- Students say "bye-bye" to their salmon fry. EWEB education grants helped bring the "Fish Eggs to Fry" program to 55 classrooms in the Eugene 4J School District. Students cared for their salmon over two months as they hatched from eggs, developed into swimming little fish, and grew ready to be released into the Willamette River via Alton Baker Park. The students tested water quality in the fish tanks, fed the fish, and fell in love with their precious little friends - so it was hard to say goodbye. But with well wishes for success, final shouts of "I love you!" to their Wylie Jr., Joes, Bobs, Fin, and hundreds of other names, they bravely sent them off into the wild. They grow up so fast!
