I can't believe they reacted to Tesseract, for those of us who have been listening to the band for a while it means a lot to us, they created a genre! It would be nice to see more reactions to bands of this style like Haken, VOLA, Soen, etc.
WAR OF BEING! An absolutely epic track, one of the best music videos in the past few years.
Was waiting for this one. It's a class tune that keeps growing on you. These guys are masters at creating soundscapes. Daniel did a vocal breakdown of the song with Chris Liepe, if you're into that.

It’s not a reference, they’ve been around longer than the MCU. TesseracT formed in 2003, the Tesseract in the MCU was first introduced/mentioned in 2011
The comics are way older describing a tesseract so it came way before the band
And it’s been a theoretical physics reference since before comic books, so…

Their name is just based on the concept of a tesseract, it's a cool/geeky/interesting concept. and makes for a great metal band name.

No, they did not get their name from Marvel. It's a geometrical reference. A tesseract is a four dimensional representation of a cube. Essentially, a tesseract is to a cube as a cube is to a square. It represents their music perfectly. Their music is continuously going within and outside itself. It's a square inside a cube and a cube inside a square. 😊
They weren't really on my radar until the singles for this album started dropping, and they are all amazing.

The Album this is from is the ultimate drive for an hour and listen CD.
I liked this band previously, but never hit my top shelf till this album. Specifically this song... but there are quite a few special songs on this record.
This album is an experience better when listened to straight through.
Saw them live in Gävle, Sweden back in 2019 together with Jinjer, Freak Kitchen and Animals as Leaders. Fantastic show!
This song showcased the singers talent. Other songs show better how great rest of the band is. Get to see them again live this month.
Tesseract are one of my all time favourite bands. You put any of their albums on and you just get swallowed inside it from start to finish. I don't personally have any other bands do that to me.

The name comes from the actual geometrical tesseract, though with their love of space they could certainly pass a Marvel check. So stoked you guys have finally checked these guys out on the channel.

Tesseract is a four dimensional cube, or Hypercube. Way before comics or the MCU. It just applied to the structure of the cosmic cube in the MCU.

It's like some of my favourite Between the Buried and Me passages condensed into one song.
For anyone into long songs, BTBAM's "Swim to the Moon" is around 18mins of phenomenal prog metal.

One of the best live bands around, they're coming to Australia next year lads so go see them, you won't regret it.

I totally understand why it’s hard for you guys to react an 11 minute long mv. However, if you’d have to pick one mv of such lenght to react to, War of Being might be the most worthy pick because it is essentially as condense and full of ”good reaction moments” as an 11 minute long prog song can be. Nonetheless, appriciate what you lads do for us and happy to watch whatever content you choose fit to release. Cheers! ✌🏽

They’re absolutely a band that requires time to absorb. No superficial cheap thrills with these boys.

Their Altered State album is my favourite piece of music, it's a bit contentious because they had a different vocalist (Ashe O'Hara of Voices From The Fuselage) and people like to argue about who is 'better.' Ashe's vocals and lyric-writing is quite a lot different to Dan's (a bit more pop-influenced compared to their previous album One, no heavy vocals but some awesome multi-layered harmonies) and the album itself is a little less heavy to match that.
Since Dan returned for their third album they've gone from strength to strength but War of Being is an incredible album. I love that they don't go in for solos or particularly gnarly riffs, just some of the smoothest grooves you've ever heard.
Yeah, I need to check out more from these guys. I get the Tool vibe but at the beginning, I was thinking more A Perfect Circle with his vocal melodies and that almost alt-rock guitar.

Dude has RANGE. Very "theatrical" sounding voice in some parts. I struggle with prog, and his low vocals aren't grabbing me still, but the song overall is slowly growing on me. With that being said, I just can't bring myself to listen to a 9 song, one hour prog album yet 😅 I'll get there!
Have you heard their album Altered State? It has a different vocalist who doesn't use heavy vocals and has a bit more of a 'pop' style. It also happens to be an absolute masterpiece. :D

I thought you were talking about Legion being a Marvel reference at first.
Dan Tompkins is a huge gamer. They often reference them in their lyrics. It may be that marvel influenced the title of the song.... if they are fans of the MCU. However, the lyrics certainly don't have anything to do with MCU. Their new album is deeply personal, introspective, and themed around transcendent of one's own personal struggles to forge a sense of self and identity - hence the title of the album 'War of Being' ...
P.S. you guys should react to the title track of the album. It's an 11-minute proggy journey containing intensely complex musicianship, stanky and filthy heavy bendy/djenty guitars and bass, and an absolute vocal master-class from Dan.
