🎯 Key points for quick navigation:
00:27 *🌱 Precision irrigation requires precise adjustments in environment and root zone management.*
01:23 *📊 Essential tools for precision irrigation include EC and pH meters, substrate sensors, and programmable timers.*
02:19 *📚 Understanding irrigation terms like VWC, EC stacking, and dryback is crucial for effective water management.*
04:09 *🌱 Substrate size significantly affects irrigation strategy; smaller sizes offer more control over water content and EC.*
05:17 *🔄 Crop steering involves adjusting environmental factors and irrigation to influence vegetative or generative growth.*
07:21 *🌿 Differentiate vegetative and generative growth phases through controlled substrate EC and dryback adjustments.*
09:12 *📈 Irrigation phase graph illustrates phases (P0, P1, P2, P3) crucial for managing water content and substrate EC.*
11:06 *🌱 Proper watering techniques during transplanting and maintaining optimal dryback percentages are critical for root health and growth.*
14:19 *💧 Utilizing P2 (maintenance) and P3 (dryback) phases effectively balances substrate moisture crucial for plant development.*
17:19 *📉 Collecting and analyzing runoff data aids in adjusting irrigation strategy to maintain optimal substrate EC and pH levels.*

In P1, what exactly do they mean by 2-6%? 2-6% of the substrate volume?

These vegetative dry backs are crazy (30-40%)
    We typically dryback

Very informative resource! From your experience, in 4" and 6" Rockwood veg can you skip p2 irrigation events? Or depending on veg duration they need to be introduced at some point? My veg time is 21 days.

When is the new Athena direct plant feeding system out? Just graft right onto the feed lines.
I'd give it a go if they could get the whole system to zero waste & carbon positive. At least to the same level as permaculture.

Is there any evidence for this besides people repeating it? Like the published results of a well documented study? The irrigation window and EC stacking part changing plant growth characteristics.

While crop steering is “new” to the cannabis industry, these techniques have been used for many years in large scale agriculture.

if i have 1200 plants and i need 300ml run off per day thats going to cost me 360 Liters per day of fertilizer which i throw away.. thats a lot

      Reuse it foo

    • @lucaschraner
      @lucaschraner 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@verdeklaro9051 if you reuse it, you will get a different concentration each irrigation. Because plants already took out what they need each irrigation so the nutrients are off balance. Thats the best way to get problems.

360l of mixed water is approx 2l of pure fertiliser during veg per day with the Athena blended line. That’s around 21$ or 630$ a month..
If you increase your yield only by 0,5%-1% with this strategy it’s already profitable.
From a sustainability point of view it would be better to recycle the waste water.
