Reinhard Heydrich But that still doesn't affect the movie because it's still cool. Also, what you're telling is a lie. I have an electric gun(also made in China) and it doesn't sound like the gunshots in this movie.
You gotta love guns that never need reloading....plus "Hard Boiled" is one of the rare movies that you adapt into a videogame and not the other way around...
The movie that convinced me that Action Movies, when done with expert precision, can be art. I remember that one-shot hallway sequence left me in a stunned silence for a good 5 minutes the first time I saw it.
I dread to think how much pressure cast and crew must have been under prior to, and during, shooting of that one-take sequence. If even just one of them had severely flubbed their lines and/or actions then my understanding is that they would have had no time to go back and try and do it as a one-take sequence again.
Most Hong Kong films in that era had no sound mics. All of the sound and dialogue was dubbed in after filming. This was both to save money and i believe to also allow mandarin dubbing to be easier.

Doctor: "Don't worry sir, you're in the safest of hands here at Hong Kong General hospital. We'll take excellent... " (In walks Tequila, brandishing most powerful shotgun known to man) Doctor: "Fuck you buddy, I'm outta here! Good luck!!'
A cop Tequila who loses his partner Benny in a shoot-out with gun smugglers goes on a mission to catch them. In order to get closer to the leaders of the ring, he joins forces with an undercover cop Alan who's working as a gangster hitman. They use all means of excessive force to find them.
One of the greatest action movies ever made and is John Woo's masterpiece that he still hasn't topped to this day. Plus it's my headcanon that Hard Boiled is set in the same universe as Breaking Bad, Sons Of Anarchy, Demon Knight, Heat and Runaway Train.
Also, to answer your question at the end, yes, the PS3/XBOX game is very good, I got mine on Xbox and Pc once my 360 went red. Very short at 7-8 levels but it's super cool if you are in the mood to mow down thousands of armed mooks and blow the shit out of everything in your path. Hell, the game has a destruction tally at the end to tell you just how much of a financial dent you left behind. Even John Woo appears as himself so that was awesome for a fan like me :D A shame the sequel never went anywhere, it was going to have Chow Yun Fat AND Vin Diesel! It was canned and due to be reconfigured into just another co-op shooter but that too was canned :( Track down a copy and give it a go! It's still super fun to play!
First thought: 145 dead, and we haven't even gotten to the hospital? I first saw this movie on a dubbed VHS. I enjoyed it a lot more when I saw it in Cantonese with subtitles.
Does anyone know that the movie hard boiled action themes was in f.e.a.r,because monolith put it in so people who plays it feels like there in a action movie
Still one of the best Action-Movies ever made. Back when Action-Movies were REAL Action Movies and not the crap we get now 99% of the time. Dredd was a fine example of a good Action-Movie but those Diamonds are very rare these days. Sad times.
Love you forever John Woo!!❤️❤️ your action movies are the best and never get old. So good are they that they are a separate action movie sub genre officially! Not lying!
So is there a plot? Or is this just a rail-gun esque adventure where it's just set piece after set piece of dudes getting shot? Also, before you do The Hitman's Bodyguard when it comes out could you do 48 Hours and Another 48 Hours?
There's a plot! It's actually a great movie. Is there a 48 Hours connection to Hitman's Bodyguard? Haven't seen it yet, so don't spoil it if there is, but we'll move 48 Hours up on our to-do list and make sure they are both out before Hitman's Bodyguard comes out. Thanks for you support!
I mean there's not really but the plots are kinda similar. (White Guy who's never been to jail teams up with an African American jailbird who likes to sing badly to '80s songs and who's the only guy to put away the bad guy and they have round about 48 hours to put away the bad guy. (I don't think it's exactly 48 hours it's more like 36 hours in Hitman's case. But yeah I got a 48 Hours type of vibe off it but maybe that's just me.))
The original 'City on Fire' is what heavily influenced Tarantino's, Reservoir Dogs, just five years after the 1987 release of 'City On Fire. Some of the shots in Reservoir Dogs are blatantly lifted straight out of the film that influenced it (check out where Harvey Kietel blasts the approaching coppers to death through the front window of their police cruiser, it's near enough EXACTLY the same as the original!) In all fairness though, Tarantino HAS gone on record 100% as to admitting his early directorial influences and paying his respect to a film that 97% of the western world never knew existed. For that I doff my hat to him. Great films. Those that haven't seen 'City On Fire', well, you should.
the chow and woo action connection very much ba ba ba ba bad to the bone marrow great action masterpieces like this never ever gets old😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉.

Sometimes a movie doesn't need words to convey how bad ass it is.
@@CarnageCounts,
What about the baby is the baby okay or killed in the 1992 movie hard boiled?
The whole movei Is carnage.
Would you upload New Dragon Gate Inn (1992) Carnage Count, please?
Finally, one of the best action movies EVER. I'd say half of the population of Hong Kong is dead by the time the credits roll.

Filmmakers today only wish they could make an action movie as bad ass as this.
L Pendergast you've got to be joking. Those gun shots sound like those 3 dollar made in china electric guns you buy at walmart for a 5 year old.
Reinhard Heydrich Does the Dunning-Kruger effect ring a bell?
Reinhard Heydrich
But that still doesn't affect the movie because it's still cool.
Also, what you're telling is a lie. I have an electric gun(also made in China) and it doesn't sound like the gunshots in this movie.
You could not make this movie in America. It would be X-rated violence. Probably not anywhere else either.
Scott Humphreys have you even seen ninja assassin any of the saw movies or even the hateful eight ?
You gotta love guns that never need reloading....plus "Hard Boiled" is one of the rare movies that you adapt into a videogame and not the other way around...
Its in those Western gunfights nobody reloads
John Woo did make a video game and it had Chow in it, contained all his usual tropes
Their was a game: Stronglehold. Set as a sequal to this movie.

Hey.... wasnt kill number 108 the same guy who played the head of the Corp. Hans Gruber killed in Die Hard?
No. The 108th victim in this was played by Kwan Hoi-San (a.k.a. Herman Kwan) while the _Die Hard_ actor playing Mr Takagi was James Shigeta.
24 does not count because the guy was only partially shot. He dies at 0:57
No he’s talking about the other guy at the back
