I just noticed, in the 'Old man yells at cloud' newspaper, Grandpa Abe is drawn in Lego minifig style rather than being just an screencap from the show.
So are some of the other unique prints, for example the Donut Fancy has a lego hand holding a donut, and the Bi-Clops comic has BiClops drawn in lego style too.
These models remind me a lot of the Simpsons Hit and Run game, where all characters permanently had a vacant look staring into the distance. It is very true with that certain characters just don't look right in 3D
I hope this is a sign Lego will do more licensed minifigure blind bags. I sat that because I'd love to get Marvel or Star Wars minifigures but don't want to pay the hefty price tag for the sets they come in
Marvel or Star Wars minifigures would be classified as action figures and not building toys. So they cannot do them because Hasbro owns the rights to Marvel and Star Wars action figures.
When I was little I spent £500 on a Lego Star Wars set for one character ahahah. I didn't tell my mum the reason why I wanted the set (she would of killed me). As a 90's kid £500 was like 10000000 chrismas' saved up.
I presume the rubber heads are for characters with thin and long features (Itchy and Scratchy's ears, Burns' nose) which would break off easily if they were the usual, slightly brittle, plastic.
I kinda wish they did more of these. We're still missing notable characters like Moe, Barney, Smithers, Principal Skinner, Comic Book Guy, Carl, Lenny, Reverend Lovejoy, Otto, Patty and Selma.
This is the first series and it pretty much just came out. I'm sure the second series will come out before the end of the year and we will get all those characters you mentioned :)
it would be cool if they made the intro bit where marge is in the store and they scan maggy and then marge puts maggy in a bag the the unibrow baby is pissed at maggy or maggie at least thats how I remember it
Maggie and Mr. Burns are my favorites. I don't mind that Maggie is a bit out of scale and I love her cute little bear and pacifier. Also, I really lke Mr.Burns' mutant fish and the neat, translucent, green glowing, uranium rod from the show, that's a nice touch. Grandpa, Ned and Apu are also done very well.
One of the recent episodes (and I am not ashamed to admit that I still watch Simpsons) was actually 80% a Lego advert. Lego characters looked more 'Lego-friendly' in that episode, so it's weird they just didn't go for those designs instead.
when Stuart talks about the first simpsons figures ever made, I'm sure that they were the ones from burger king in 1990 with plastic heads and soft bodies, and they do have massive grins funny enough.
RockingChairShotgunner we call them catapults and slingshots but have the appropriate mental responses that allow us to differentiate between two separate objects that for ease of identification might have come to share the same designation, y'know... like fuckin' every person has.
im from the UK and im still yet to hear many people refer to it as a catapult. i see more Americans doing it to be perfectly honest. as on the matter between trebuchets and Catapults, Trebuchets are the larger forms that require set up and once set up cannot be moved in their state. catapults are more mobile and require less setup, while flinging smaller rocks. (i might be wrong in some areas but i think that is about right)
Fun Fact: In The Simpson's Game (the surprisingly good 2007 one) had a special engine that made it so Lisa's hair looked the same from every angle. I think they had a similar thing in Epic Mickey for his ears too...
The standard Lego bodies just don't seem to work. They're too large for the kids and the majority of Springfield are meant to be overweight which is not shown at all in these figures.
Every time Ashens mentioned the characters' heads not looking right in 3D, I kept thinking back to that episode where Homer and Bart got trapped in some sort of 3D Tron universe, and how weird they looked. I remember thinking the graphics were really amazing at the time, though, so that must have been mid-90s.
10:58 "Let's do his catchphase" Am I the only one who went "Ha ha!"? 12:16 I reckon Itchy doesn't have a tail because Scratchy cut it off with that axe.
I know why all the main characters have wide eyes instead of expressions. It's because the $200 LEGO Simpsons House, comes with the family that has expressions/squinting eyes, and a Maggie that has wide eyes looking straight forward. It also comes with Ned, who has the same face, but a cooking apron. Homer has a Tie, Marge has an Apron as well, and Lisa has a backpack. So it seems as if they didn't just want to release the exact same figures in two different places.
Congratulations! Congratulations, a thousand times! A collection of rare, limited edition lego figurines! That's quite an accomplishment! And they're all organized neatly in their own shelves to be protected from dust! That is awesome! Well done~
These are really nice. I'm even tempted to go out and get some in the hopes of getting Itchy and Scratchy. Those two are definitely my favourite figures here, but they seemed like a strange choice. It would have made much more sense to put in Barney and Moe instead, or at least Smithers. I'd love to see them continue with this series and eventually add more obscure characters, like maybe Duffman or Dr. Colossus etc.
Can't understand why they screwed up the paint on Lisa and Marge, if you look at them they both wear shoulderless dresses and from the front and back the dress paint does indeed end just before the shoulders, but then they've painted the top face of the body piece the same colour as the dress as if it has some random floating piece of material on their shoulders. Other than that though these seem pretty cool
For most "Grab bag" type collectibles, the Bar Code numbers will be different per figure. Figure out which Bar Code corresponds to the figure you still need and match them up in the store. This has worked for pretty much every grab bag type collectible I've purchased over the years. Never get duplicates again!
I think the most depressing episode is the one where Snowball II is run over by a car, then Lisa gets a succession of replacement cats that also die. Finally, the Crazy Cat Lady throws a cat at Lisa for some reason, which happens to look just like Snowball II, so she just gives it the same name because the writers were lazy. Catapult derives from the Greek 'kata' meaning 'against' and 'pallein' meaning 'toss' and through various different languages such as French katapallein eventually became catapult and is the correct term for 'slingshot'.
As i always understood it: A catapult has a solid handle, like the Y shaped one Bart uses whereas a slingshot just uses rope with a pouch to hold the shot, the type you'd spin to build momentum before releasing.

Season 10 right?
Old Man Yells At Cloud is actually from Season 13 - proof that the Simpsons is still funny in later episodes, if only fleetingly.
Did you know that Milhouse first appeared in a Butterfinger commercial?
Did you know that no-one cares?
Scott Brownlee You sure are an uppity smartass about Simpsons trivia for someone watching a man talk about Simpsons toys.

It's so strange hearing Ashens appreciating something.
Wow they look so amazing! Kudos to Legos for making these awesome!
I was just re looking at the picture of all of your lego minifigures and you don't have the lego movie series, just noticed, great vid.
when Stuart talks about the first simpsons figures ever made, I'm sure that they were the ones from burger king in 1990 with plastic heads and soft bodies, and they do have massive grins funny enough.

Chief Wiggum was actually perfect when it came to the face. The body though... the Chief sure lost ALOT of weight.

"Ned Flandors"
You put o's in random words and make them sound sexy af
The standard Lego bodies just don't seem to work. They're too large for the kids and the majority of Springfield are meant to be overweight which is not shown at all in these figures.
they should have made unique bodyparts for these.
"All together now, lets do his catchphrase. They're all dead." Ah, good ol' Ashens humor.
I wasted so many years of my life not being subscribed to this channel.
The fact that you're a Lego collector boost my respect for you to unimaginable levels. Good man.
Rewatching this years later, and realized Ned is holding his mug in the wrong hand! If he is a southpaw wouldn't it be in his left hand?
"Preachy humor vacuum." That is such a perfect description of Lisa.

the handle on Flanders' mug is gigantic. weird they made it extend so far away from the mug.
And why would Ned be holding it in his right hand, when he's left handed?
Who is that at at 8:51?
It freaked me out haha

Weegee :3 Nah I've seen Ashen's in his vids and his film.
It looks a lot like him ewe
+Jason Mason I heard from somewhere else that it was one of Ashen's friends and it was a inside joke

Oh Ashens, you always make me chuckle
what was that on Milhouse?? Kerry King?

Probably because the torso's base coat was red and their machines can only paint the front and back. It's been like that for years.
Berniebud
You'd think they'd fix that little feature considering the kind of prices they demand.
EvilDoresh It would be pointless since the printing would wear away over time as you moved the arms.
velops
Don't you mean the head? I thought we were talking about the "neck" section XD
EvilDoresh I got confused by the description of the problem since it is so wordy.
I like the new voice style, it's much better and more Ashens-y than the recent over-confident Ashens... feels like an old Ashens video
The J stands for Jay.
It's a joke
Ye but Ashens said he wondered what it stood for^^ I was just trying to help if he actually didnt know :)
TewdPlays Actually the J in Bartholomew J Simpson stands for Jo-Jo. It's the J in Homer J Simpson that stands for Jay.
Ye but I could only hear him ask about Homer :
I must have missed it. TImelink?

The face flashing at 8:51 forced a chuckle out of me.
They also didn't paint Homer's shoes.
Ashens said ''either coloured feet or coloured legs''.
firedragonosis Okay? I was not saying Ashens said anything wrong, I simply mentioned that his shoes were not painted.
Glassjaw003 That's fine. I was just pointing out other people were wrong.
firedragonosis I'd hope so.

What "old Simpsons figures" were you talking about with the weird teeth?
Judging by your name, I'm guessing your too young to remember them.
Joss Most-likely, but could you answer the question or not?
We could if you could learn proper English.
Wolfsheim What mistake did I make?
Your entire OP is worded incorrectly, you misspelled "were," and most likely is not any sort of compound word.

Slingshots are called catapults in the U.K?
catapult's is the proper word for it, but they are colloqually called "slingshots"
Catapult derives from the Greek 'kata' meaning 'against' and 'pallein' meaning 'toss' and through various different languages such as French katapallein eventually became catapult and is the correct term for 'slingshot'.
I have called them "guttys" from when i was young. Is this a scottish thing or do other parts of the country call them "guttys"?
As i always understood it: A catapult has a solid handle, like the Y shaped one Bart uses whereas a slingshot just uses rope with a pouch to hold the shot, the type you'd spin to build momentum before releasing.

I wonder why lego seems more popular in Europe than the U.S and I'm genuinely curious.
It's cause we (u.k) have different TV shows and things which Lego grabs a hold of, and Swindon (my home town) is twinned with floridas Disney which gives Lego an opportunity to make a movie and cause we have loads of legolands, people have made a shit tonne of buildings :) from jazz (all the way from england sent to you by little lines of INTERNET)
Because it's made in Europe.
It was funded in Denmark.
Lego is pretty popular here too, we have lego stores that are usually crowded and they just opened a Legoland Discovery Center near my home city.
All my friends born in the 90s played with Legos. If not all the other building stuff. Plus they make a lot of Lego video games which I know Americans play way to much of.
I only just noticed that on the Milhouse figure, Biclops has been done as a lego figure too. Awesome.
You don't call it a "sling shot"???
I've heard both terms used interchangeably. Whats so surprising that people use different words for stuff?
I read once that eye-wear in shapes opposite a person's face compliment it the most. So sharp-angled frames for round faces, round frames for square faces, wide frames for narrow faces, etc. I think the same idea may explain why you fancy the oval-eyed figs over the round-eyed one.
