Advice - don't take small children out in that, dopey...
Yeah, don't take a lake boat into the ocean. All these long boats with downward-sloping bows - Nortech, Midnight Express, etc - are for lakes or glassy smooth ocean conditions. Not rough choppy ocean state like today, where they appear deliberately designed to stuff the bow and submarine under waves. Get a Grady or HCB or similar for real ocean conditions.

Would I go out in those conditions? With BTL absolutely! Most of the others; not on your life!
I’m 77 years old and spent my boating career on the west coast. Racing and cruising sailboats. I do have enough experience with motorboats to know superior boat handling skills from hacks when I see them. Sophia has superior boat handling capabilities in spades. If she said “let’s go out in twenty foot breakers in an eight foot dinghy,” I would go because I have seen how she handles herself and her vessel. Impeccable seamanship. She will have a career as a captain if she chooses to take that particular path. Private. Commercial. Merchant marine. You name it, she can conquer it.
Then I suppose every jet ski operator pounding waves is a qualified sea captain too. I don't see it that way. Just because you have a decent boat and skills to drive it doesn't qualify you to operate all vessels. That is an insult to all who have achieved Captain's status, licensed and USCG approved. By the way you don't want to go out there with her in those rough seas. Bouncing around like that might break something on you.
Blue top legend should wear a PFD doing that by herself. Promoting her foolishness is dangerous. I’ve got no issue with her going out on a rough day, but if she falls out she could easily drown before someone could help her.

Just wrote similar. Vest. A second person (that could handle those conditions). And a second engine. When you're young, you don't think about such things. Let's hope she never gets truly tested.
I'm pretty sure Sophia is part Mermaid, but still....why not wear a pfd, especially being alone.

Knowing Whaler models, how they handle in rough sea, these girls, BTL, are skilled - they know their boat - it shows in their handling Not that it isn’t a risk, and they know about that. That’s why they are so good at it. I’m far from from the US, and are honestly surprised to see the lack of safety wests.. worst with all the children.

Here a lack of safety vest means a better florida suntan.
Personal Flotation Device (PFD) is required by law for anyone under 16 on a motor vessel under 26ft. in Louisiana. Don't know if its Federal or not.
It's a macho type thing in the Miami area, they can drown & be fish food like the rest of us !

Would I go out in those conditions? In the Blue Top Legend with Sophia as skipper, YES! Of course, I'd need a back support, neck support, and safety lines clipped into jack lines. As skipper of my boat, probably not. It's about the confidence in the boat and skipper.

I don't see a killswitch lanyard attached to her and strongly think she should have a PFD on. I don't understand why solo captains don't wear PFD and why others sit in/on the bow as that takes the biggest bounce.
But that wouldn't look cool, would it? It will all end in tears one day and Wavy shouldn't be encouraging it. @@FFSkippy

Sir. Its a kill switch! Should react when the helms(person v/m) drops down and is out of reach of the controls. So!!! Also already in the boat. Check out the regulation of a m o b ( man overboard boat) situation. Solas can tell you all about it.

@@henkoosterhof5947 I have it on my 26 foot wellcraft, clipped to my shorts in case I fall or get ejected from the boat, she may have a short leash on her bikini bottoms, as she is in Rough water….and my boat has a automatic EPIRB also..

Alaska/BC high end fishing camp I visited for years only runs Boston Whalers.
Couple guides went out one night after our day on the water. The whaler capsized and remained afloat but the guides drowned.
The guides had more years on the ocean than blue legends age. Always wear floatation in rough seas.
Blue Top is a pro.
Lots of Criss Craft boats on Lake Erie , really popular.

Howdy, I live in Canada and have never been to Haulover but am going to be down there this coming weekend to board a cruise ship on Tuesday and am wondering if this is a good time of year to come see some rough water at Haulover

Would I go out in those conditions? Only in a Boston Whaler! I have not seen anyone push a boat harder than she does and it just shrugs it off.
Of course I would go out in those conditions. When I was her age I was building my own Bungee cords and jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge and the Foresthill Bridge. Great times.

My advice to the Nor-Tech operator, I wouldn't call him a captain, is have the Blue Top Legend teach you how to operate a boat in those waters.
Captain Sophia may have it under control but in 4K and Slo Mo I'm not sure I do
Gotta admit she knows the in & out of that inlet like I know the trips to my bathroom, confident on her skills, seamanship, body not bad either ( hers ) maybe she's a mermaid in disguise, born around that inlet ? Boston Whaler should let her do some promos for thier boats !
When you're young your invincible, and if it holds true, your good to go. If not, your old friends will talk about you from time to time. Those girls on the BTL, heck we talk about them all the time.
There should be some sort of competition using impact sensors. Whoever is the smoothest wins. It'd have to be the same boat though, or same size & hull. Whalers do handle incredibly well in waves like that. That's their happy place.

They do. Only btl is off a lower price range. And how do you know they are not ordered? Waiting for delivery in 6 months. So let the boat rust away in the meantime?

I worked for a company that made ribs on custom order for clients. So we ordered (uhlman) air rides on the clients specs or backrests for others. Never used the benches i see in these posts.

Those are really difficult conditions, heavy seas, incoming tide, cross chop. Hard to keep the right speed, unless you are a jet ski.
