There were several actors who played the part of Philo Vance. More of the William Powell stories seem to have been uploaded than the others. Unfortunately a William Powell photo was used in this upload and therein lies the deception.
In fact men don’t wear suits any more either. Only if they are going to weddings or their own wedding or maybe a prom or an event. Too bad. Makes men look more hansome.
I wish there was a different version of this film, where Barbara Stanwych played virginia, and not only did she not get murdered, but also went on to help Philo Vance solve the crime. And I'd change the killer, as well.
People are Commenting that 'this isn't a William Powell film'...............but where is that even offered? He's not in the opening credits. And William Wright does just fine AS William Wright.
Who were the writers on this project? Did they even know how to write an interestng mystery story? The lucky ones were murdered within the first ten minutes. Granny was sweet keeping photos of sonny boy's exwifes displayed on the wall. And she was not distrought over any of the murders - not even her grandson's. She just sat there showing no emotion.
You mean the actresses? Yes, that often happened to the naive ones. Or do you mean the characters they portrayed? Yes, and that was quite common within the plot. 'He done her wrong' was a standard theme.
That's misleading to show William Powell when he isn't playing Vance.
I WAS COUNTING ON WILLIAM POWELL!!!
William Powell hated playing Philo Vance. Said that the role didn't require any acting.
I agree
Pure clickbait!
Watching on my tv the quality is terrible m: poor focus and its is static.
Imagine a world where cops patrolled on foot and even directed traffic. This is your film.
And a world where a family of four could $12 worth of food per week....
I remember those days. That all ended as we edged toward 1960 and the country went into decline..
Rats! I really wanted to see a William Powell film. Warren William is okay.
Wow!!! When men wore suits and women wore hats! To a concert.
They even wore coats and ties and dresses to a baseball game.
@@DavidSmith-sb2ix Not to mention plane trips.
Yes, class is a thing of the past.
@@Oldeagle66 When standards drop, mediocrity rise to the top.
And no-one wore bedroom slippers!
I expected a William Powell film! Quite the trick. Bad look.
I thought this was a William Powell flick. That’s a bit disappointing.
I thought so too. Disappointing
You are right, not Powell.

Thanks!

So much fun! Thanks. ❤
Superb Share! Thank you! 🎥
A little mistake I see huh? Not William Powell, as on your thumbnail!
WARNING!! No Wiliam Powell here...
Why is this listed as a William Powell film?
Not Powell
Thanks to prior reviews I didn’t waste my time.
I wish there was a different version of this film, where Barbara Stanwych played virginia, and not only did she not get murdered, but also went on to help Philo Vance solve the crime. And I'd change the killer, as well.
And perhaps the Producers would spell Barbara's surname correctly and would use a capital letter to write the character's (Virginia) name.
@@ALLAN-qq7ms well, well, aren't we censorious and snarky.
Back when people respected themselves.
😮😂
Thirteen minutes in: both leads dead. Color me intrigued.
why didn't Vance ask which days Lorena Sims "disappeared" from the sanitarium?
Misleading if you ask me!
We didn't ask you.😅
And we bring up hershell walkers question: if we are descended from apes, why are there still apes around?
Maybe it's the other way around.
Se ci siamo evoluti, perché ci sono ancora i Cretini?
William Warren is just as enjoyable to me!
Warren William
@suzannefarrington4143thank you foryour information !
I like them both
People are Commenting that 'this isn't a William Powell film'...............but where is that even offered? He's not in the opening credits.
And William Wright does just fine AS William Wright.
William Powell is shown prominently in the thumbnail, which is what shows in listings.
Powell was on the thumb nail, but Warren William is great as well
Wow. Straight off of the TV screen.
Comments,
That's misleading, & that's disappointing. It's VERY disappointing !
Fraud for clicks !
NOT THE RIGHT WILLIAM
WILLIAM WRIGHT, RIGHT !

Terrible audio.
She had to take a bullet, to dodge one Then the bodies started stacking up like cordwood.

Where's William Powell, then; after all, they showed Bil Powell, at the start of the programme ?
Theu NEVER turn the tub water off..
Never your right,HA !!!
Drop the fake photo!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Why didn't they turn the water off after they discovered the corpse in the bathtub??
Wright reminds me of John Carroll.
That does not look like Willaim Powell to me either.
where is william powell.
This feller, whom I’ve never ‘met’, aint no Philo Vance. Where’s William Powell?
Warren William was in tons of films,I think he played the Saint in some
Were women in show business abused in any way in those times?
Yes.
@@SuziQ. did those women ever get revenge?
