I had this game when I was a kid. Such a fun update to the old arcade game. Also looking at the main character today, he makes me think of a futuristic Elmer Fudd. "Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting wobots. Hehehehehe".
Holy heck you guys just unlocked a core memory for me. In high school my friend's dad used to collect old pinball machines and arcade cabinets. Among them was Robotron 2084. I distinctly remember making fun of the name, and also the way that the screen would flash rainbow squares when you either died or passed a level (not sure) - prime seizure inducing material. My friend's dad actually passed away a few years ago, I'm not sure what happened to the Robotron cabinet. Thanks for the memory
I have been searching for this game my entire life. I swore i played this as a child, but after many failed attempts to find the game for years, I thought it was just a wacky childhood dream that I was remembering. Those flashing color boxes and his giant head in the start screen were embedded in my mind. Thank you so much
It's incredibly cool and comforting to come back to this channel after years to see this guys playing some games and hanging out as always. Keep up the great work, gentlemen, stay blessed.
concerning that convo about 80s action movies references during the patreon shoutouts, there's also a film called "red scorpion" starring dolph lundgren, so maybe paul was also thinking of that.
Robotron 2084 is one of the best Atari 7800 games, and the N64 version is one of N64’s greatest hidden gems. I’m happy to see this game is getting a little attention. IMO Geometry Wars 2 is the best twin stick shooter of all time - anybody know one better than GW2?
Apparently, KNEX eventually recognized Josh's issue with them, as they had a REALLY cool line of Super Mario stuff a while back that included little LEGO-esque mini-figs. If you've ever wanted more traditional mini-figs from LEGO Mario, try hunting that stuff down. They're a perfect substitute, and they made a great variety of different characters, Karts, and setpieces.
i unironically love Aqua and Toybox. recently listened to all that stuff again (and still have all my cds) and i maintain that Aqua still holds up, and was better/smarter music than anyone, including me, gave it credit for back in the day. Toybox is fun, but stupid as hell, and sometimes pretty creepy. Listen to the song "Wizard of Oz" by Toybox and *really* pay attention to the lyrics and tell me thats not skeevy as hell. on the other hand, "E.T." and "Russian Lullaby" straight rip and nobody can tell me otherwise.
Contra Force was a game. It sucked, but it was a game. It started out as a game unrelated to Contra, but they slapped the Contra label on it and called it good.
What happened to the cut to Paul looking all slick and pointing to the camera like James Bond and saying in a cool, confident manner "That's Sci-Fi Month" when the graphic and music were done? I want it back! My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined :(

@@NucularRobit I am ABSOLUTELY interested. I have probably listened to all of FF at least 4 times, and TFTT 2 times. I had no idea something like this was still going on so I will definitely be listening to it.
So riddle me this Batman, how's-a-come this comment says posted 18 hours ago, but the video upload time says 57 minutes ago? Did all those times we did the Timewarp again during the Rocky Horror Picture show finally catch up to us?
I used to love Robotron, on C64. Same basic play mechanics. (For reference: th-cam.com/video/U61pL-oT_FI/w-d-xo.html) That unlocked something in my brain. Cheers.
"I'm ready to Falling Down anyday!". Aren't we all just about ready to Falling Down? Truer words have never been spoken Paul.

i lowkey miss when the medias idea of the future was this kind of technicolour geometric space like this game.
From Eggs to Xs (intermixed with K'nex)
I wish the Electric basketball hoop operates like the DOD, the Donut of Doom, and it clears the board.
Paul, playing Robotron X: “I’ve become so numb, I can’t feel you there-“
You guys could actually get so much content from VR! I hope you guys get into that.

I don't know one better, but I enjoyed Gunroar.
Nex Machina (co-designed by Robotron creator Eugene Jarvis) is a strong contender.
Josh I have Contra Force. It's worth a pretty penny now

Just here for my third extra life before I go to the bar. Don't mind me, folks.
We need to keep dropping more YTMND references boys!

this is definitely one of those games that ramps up the difficulty infinitely to eat quarters or time, love it
I wish you guys did sci-fi month when Cool Josh told you too.
Paul's riddle and Josh's dissection of it got me good.
For some reason, Nick saying "That's a cool riddle, dude" made me laugh

This reminds me of playing Alien Swarm Reactive Drop with gamepad. If y'all did a 3p longplay of that game it would be so freakin wild!
State of Emergency was insane. You should play it on the channel
