This is one of my favorite shows of all time and a big part of the reason why is Brad Garrett. His facial expressions and body language fit his character perfectly.

It's weird how many levels I relate to Robert on this one. Having an attractive woman constantly flirt with you even though you've asked her to stop, then have everyone else act like you should just be grateful for the attention and not support you? Been there. Having your parents "worry" about you being a homosexual because you're not interested in the women they think you should go for? Been there. Sometimes, it's basically - "Is she single? Does she have a pulse? Then why aren't you asking her out?" To be fair, I think their main concern is they want grandchildren, and my only sibling has no plans of ever having kids. I'd like to have kids someday, and while there's plenty of fish in the sea, the vast majority of those fish are either with someone, don't know what they want, are incapable of being content, or have impossible-to-meet standards. Usually a combination of most of those.
The subtly in which they handled what could otherwise be sensitive topics (esp in this current day and age) is what I loved about this show. Marie was asking as a nosy mother of course, trying to figure out her son's problem with women.... but I love how they didn't treat it like it would be a negative thing if Robert was gay. She asked out of concern and a need to know... not because she feared that he might be. This moment gives off the vibe that if Robert had said yes... she would have just been happy to have resolved the problem, and probably would have accepted him just the same - at least, as much as she already did lol. Raymond would always be her favorite regardless.
This scene would not get made in 2020, what with the "woke leftists" and "cancel culture". Loved this show. Never thought the 90's would be the good old days
