The reason Serj isn't as mainstream as other singers is because most people don't really enjoy music (despite claiming to do so). Most people put music in the background, to prevent silence. I've noticed that people who listen to Serj or other not so popular artists who make good music with good lyrics, they sit down and listen to the music while watching the video. They want to understand the song. Your average person doesn't want to understand the song, so they don't care how good it is.
Rap is only successful for that reason no one cares about the lyrics and it makes them feel unique despite the fact that most of this generation listens to it
I have nothing against Serj’s solo music, but I just can’t get into it. I feel his work with System of a Down is the most enjoyable. But I can still appreciate certain songs of his like this one.
