Could McGonagall be an heir of Ravenclaw?
(Quick refresher: Helena is Rowena Ravenclaw's only known child. She moved to Scotland after fleeing Hogwarts with the diadem only to be hunted and killed years later by the baron who was sent to retrieve her. He got mad when she didn't want to marry him, he kills her, and then guilty, so he kills himself)
It takes a couple leaps but as y'all said, Rowena's family history is kinda missing. I don't think this is because Helena didn't have kids but that she would keep her life private and because she died before anyone knew. She hid the Diadem while she was alive, in an Albanian forest and I doubt that was because she didn't know a way to defend things magically or have an heir to pass it to. I suspect this is because Helena knew she would be hunted and that magic would only make finding her/it easier. On top of that, any heirs she left would have little chance with a target that big.
(Sidebar: If Helena wasn't a ghost, the diadem would likely never be found. Also, Tom Riddle hiding it in the room of hidden things because he thought he was the only one clever enough to have found it is wildly dumb. Who hid all the other things Tom???? Terrible wedding planner)
The first big issue is that McGonagall isn't a Ravenclaw but I think this actually helps her. McGonagall is one of the two true Hatstalls we know of and both of them were because the person's value structure was different than their ambitions. (Pettigrew valued courage but was more cunning and McGonagall believed in bravery and conviction but was brilliant beyond her years) I think this wasn't only because she is so wise but because she is the Ravenclaw heir.
Ambitious Slytherins are only made stronger by the rivals they form. A Hufflepuff's loyalty only grows when their friends remain true. Ravenclaw's questions are answered when surrounded by scholars. And a Gryffindor's bravery is forged when they rally together.
If you're right about Kowolski, I think he would have been a Hatstall too. The hat has two usually parallel priorities when sorting. It puts you where you'll strive and where your values are reflected. McGonagall might have been equally as strong if she had more scholars at her side but I think the hat eventually realized McGonagall would be driven further with people to protect and a cause to rally behind.
(To our knowledge Hatstalls have a lot to do with the wishes of the person being sorted. Hermione, Neville, and Harry are the three longest sortings I can think of and we know that the decision was largely to do with their desired house.
As far as why I think they're blood-related, largely because of her intelligence but also because what little we know little about the McGonagall family tree lines up perfectly with the Ravenclaw tree. We only know that one side of the McGonagall family is likely pure-blooded, the other side is muggles and both sides are Scottish. Helena ran from Hogwarts with the Diadem and hid in Scotland for presumably years if not decades. She ran to Scotland while still in school but in most depictions, she is at the youngest in her twenties, when she became the Grey Lady. That leaves enough of a gap to start a family. (Likely with a muggle. Not because we know Rowena's position on muggles but just if she did that would be most likely) When she is murdered by the baron, all chances of that family being on any wizard records are dashed.
Now the only big gap I have is which side is the Ravenclaw side and there's a problem. I don't know. Both are plausible. A powerful witch mom dying at the start of the 11th century with one of the biggest family names in existence. I wouldn't be deeply shocked if her line were powerful and eventually became blood purists who have no one to point to at one of the most crucial times for blood purists. They likely didn't know who that line came from. On the other hand, Helena likely married a muggle man and in a time in her life where she would likely avoid magic. It wouldn't be terribly shocking if their line either didn't realize they were magic for most of it or had some generations of squibs. Almost certainly some would be magical but we don't really know when Hogwarts letters were sent to children by sensing magic potential. Along with that, this potential assumes the Ravenclaw line is in many ways accepting. An Obscurus wouldn't really be an issue.
(One last problem: Why didn't Helena ever say she had a kid as a ghost? I don't know but she also didn't tell people about the Horcrux but she knew about it and who Tom Riddle was. Also, the lore surrounding ghosts is weird. [I wouldn't be upset if you think Luna is the heir. I just think this lines up better personally.
[Sorry for how long this is. I don't really care too deeply if this gets likes but they make it more likely the SuperCarlinBrothers will see this. If you want to hear their thoughts make it more likely.

He goes to stay with his family’s friends the hufflepuffs who give him a bed and a place to stay until the anti-wizards track him there and burn down the house where Slytherien leaves with their only kid, a young girl named Helga who is obsessed with a cup for some odd reason. Right at the final confrontation there’s no escape as he and Helga are backed into a corner. The man raises how sword and prepares to cut them down, until there’s a clash as a young Godric comes to the aid of people who he doesn’t even know as wizards but he just sees as people in need. He had magical heritage - not pure but apparently that doesn't matter despite what Malfoy says- he was ruthless and cruel and cunning even before he started school on top of being part of Salazar's bloodline through the Gaunts, which Harry is not, and possessing the Parseltongue which Harry only got from the Horcrux.

Hufflepuff took tithe lot and taught them everything she knew. It’s in the Sorring Hat’s song. It says, ‘I’ll take the lot and treat them just the same’ I guess that’s where loyalty originated from.

This is a pretty good theory, but Dumbledore wouldn't have necessarily needed the sword to destroy the ring. We all know Dumbledore had an insane arsenal of magic at his command. Me guess is he probably used that fire spell that got him and Harry out of that terrible lake, maybe even that fire spell that destroyed the diadem. We certainly wouldn't have to be worried that he wouldn't be able to control it the fire like Crabbe (or Goyle ) can never remember who is who.
I'm not trying to disprove the theory or anything, I just wanted to point out that Dumbledore would probably have no need of it. Him being an heir is still really cool though!

Perhaps because Dumbledore wasn't the sword's master at the time he used it to destroy the Horcrux it still did it's job of being a sword but didn't extend protection to him from the effects of destroying a Horcrux. In which case if Harry had used the sword instead of Ron to destroy the locket he would have run the risk of being injured like Dumbledore (unless that little piece of Voldie hiding in Harry would have shielded him from the effect of the destruction.)

  • @ArtemisFowl761
    @ArtemisFowl761 3 ปีที่แล้ว

There was in fact 2 relics of Griffindor left behind. The Sorting hat was also Griffindors (cannon by the Sorting Hat's own song in The Goblet of Fire ""yet how to pick the worthy ones when they were dead and gone? Twas Griffindor who found the way he whipped me off his head. the founders put some brains in me so I could choose instead"
The Sword is linked to the hat. hence it teleports back to the hat when it is called for. and Dumbledore says in book 2 when he is arrested "Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it"
Harry asks for help with the hat. sword appears.
Neville asked for help - Sword appeared.
The hat lives in Dumbledore's office. it is entirely possible he asked it for help to destroy a horcrux.
all of which happen on Hogwarts grounds.
the only act of valor seems to be to pass the sword to someone who is not at Hogwarts.

If godric had a sword a hat and a Phoenix Salazar had a ring a locket and a basilisk, what would the other two have as their other items? I'm guessing ravenclaw actually having a raven and a broach that wards minor spells when worn. Helena would have a magical tap, plug it into anything and it will pour a large quantity of an appropriate fluid ie. Put it in a tree and get syrup, into an orange for orange juice, into an olive for olive oil, and while she would have a badger as her boon companion to help her find honey, she would also have other animal companions like a boar to sniff for truffles, and squirrels or other rodents to gather nuts. I think Dumbledore could use the sword because the ring almost took his life right away. I imagine it that way that Dumbledore after finding the ring he put it on his hand (just like the trio kept the locket close.) And the Ring imediatly cursed him so his body would slowly deciece. Before it would reach vital organs he pulled the sword from it's holding and then distroyed the ring. The curse did it's damage still and snape reduced it at his best knowledge, but I imagine it was a matter of seconds before the ring got distroyed. So Dumbledore was in fact in a lifethreatening situation and yould use the sword.

Honestly, I think that Dumbledore, should have been in Slytherin. When he was young, he and Grindlewald dreamed of uniting the Deathly Hallows and taking over the world so wizards would be in charge. If that does not scream ambitious I don't know what does. He also won every prize the school had to offer, and went on to become possibly the greatest wizard of all time. It wasn't until later in his life when he had a change in heart and basically became a whole new person, if he had been resorted after his change of heart for some reason then he would likely be in Gryffindor though. This is a massive over simplification but I think it pretty much sums it up.

around the 8:20 mark you state Dumbledore is the most outspoken for muggleborns. in the Modern era yes. but originally was very Wizards are best too, same as Voldemort. And I feel this fits your theory better, as this is probably what caused the Schism with Griffindor and Slytherin in the first place. -Both were powerful pure blood families, and It is cannon that if all wizards from that era had remained pure blood they would have died out ages ago (said by Sirius Black in book 5) perhaps Griffindor would of preferred it originally, but saw the logic of keeping magic flowing and the necessity to mix with muggles.
Dumbledore certainly agreed with this line of thinking, he co-conspired with Grindlewald to that end, and intended to keep muggles in line, especially after what had happened to his sister at the hands of muggles. Dumbledore only broke this line of thinking when it was Magic purebloods that killed Arianna (even if they don't know whose hand) it was only going to be him, Aberforth or Grindlewald.
Dumbledore constantly turned down the minister for magic role, because he thought it would be bad influence on him, as he had previously been corrupted by power, and therefore preferred to teach. And the Elder wand again is a symbol of that, he says it was the only hallow he was allowed to have, as he tried to abused the stone and ended up cursed, and the cloak didn't work for him, and the wand was the only one he had earned, as he took it so that worst evil could not be done from it, as he had learnt what Grindlewald was capable of, and knew what he intended to do with that power.

Okay okay my theory why fawkes came down to the chamber of secret is because of harry's wand!
There is this thing called twin wands wich are two wands that share the same core from the same magical animal. It's said that those twin wands share a connection to each other because they have the same core
Does that mean that the magical animal that has given a wand core have a connection with that particular wand???
If sooo... harry's wand has phoenix feather core that came from fawkes wich mean fawkes has a connection to that wand and would have a strong connection to harry
But there is another wand that has a Phoenix feather core from fawkes and that is the tom riddle's wand!! Wich means fawkes also has a connection to that particular wand and also would have build a connection to Tom riddle over the years!
So don't you think fawkes would know when one of "his" wands would change owners??? Especially when it changes to someone he knows. For example when Tom riddle picked up harry's wand????
I think Tom riddle gave away his presence when he picked up harry's wand. And fawkes recognize Tom riddle like an old friend and came to aid harry straight away. And this is the best part!! Fawkes brought the sword of gryffindor with him because he knew harry didn't have his wand and would be completely defenseless without the means to fight!!
I came up with this theory myself so please tell me if there already is a theory out there like this one :)

Just a little loophole I noticed: By the logic that Harry Potter would have to re-prove that he is worthy to wield the sword, wouldn’t that mean that Dumbledore could have done the same when he wants to use it to destroy the ring? Since Harry was the last person to become its master, Dumbledore proves himself again as worthy and becomes the master and uses the sword to destroy the ring. Which is why Harry needs to do it all over again.

That would also be why he knew it would work when he used it to destroy the ring without having earned it through an act of bravery.
