Thanks for previewing this one. It's been on my wishlist for a while. I think Bauman is one of the best portrait artists of this generation. He manages to capture emotion and a sense of mystery and storytelling in a single portrait. Not an easy feat. I'll definitely be picking this one up. At some point, I hope he releases a straight up artist's book showcasing his best work. Thanks for doing these videos. Really enjoying your channel.
You're welcome! Yeah Stephen is definitely a top artist! I am surprised I haven't seen more about the book to be honest, it went a little under the radar for me, especially considering it's from a big company like 3dtotal, as I have seen a lot of the other artists books they sell advertised a lot. You're right a gallery book would be great! I keep meaning to support him on Patreon too as he is such a good teacher! Thanks for watching!
@@SketchedbySte3DTotal is releasing some solid art books. "The Art of Kelogsloops" looks interesting. So many great art books out there, so little money. The struggle continues.
@@michaelpoore1291 Trust me I know that feeling haha I am having to consistently sell on some of my art books to fund and make space for more art books - I can't stop!
@@michaelpoore1291 Haha I know that feeling! I sell a lot of mine on ebay, and quite often when it sells, and I come to pack it, I flick through a few pages and think to myself 'hmm maybe I should have kept this one' 😆
My opinion is: whilst the book is great for everyone, I personally think it works better if you already have a basic understanding of the human head / drawing the form of the head for example if you are familiar with the andrew loomis method of drawing the head. That being said I haven't studied it front to back so could be doing the book an injustice here - on the back on the book it claims to be good for everyone including beginners though. For me I think it would work well along side something like loomis or any other beginner head drawing book. If that makes sense? You would still learn some stuff as a beginner regardless, but some of the info in here is a little more advance in my opinion
Hey James, thanks for watching! I still haven't been through the book much more since this video unfortunately so I couldn't update you just yet ( I am at a point where I have hundreds of books and courses to study with very limited time to actually study from them as much as I would like to! ) I will get back to you once I can update you further. It certainly looks highly reviewed though with 4.7 so far :) - amzn.to/3P9kOnD
What do you guys think to this one, will you be picking up the new Stephan Bauman book to brush up on your portrait skills? 🤔

@@SketchedbySte I feel your pain. I do the exact same thing. Then I have to deal with seller's remorse for many of them.

Thanks for the preview, it looks really thorough, I think I might get it
You're welcome. Yeah it's definitely got a lot of detailed information in there for a good price this one :)
Really appreciate your book reviews/flick-throughs. Have bought a couple of anatomy books on the back of them. Thanks!!!
Really glad I could help, thanks so much for watching!
Is iti suitable for complete beginners? Thanks

Would love to hear about an update with this book. Has your opinion changed after reading the book a little bit more?
