I love how at first he seems angry about Raoul but then she apologizes with her sweet voice and he responds with a softer tone. It's why its one of my favorite scenes in the movie and my favorite phantom.
I love how at first he sings all angry like but after she sings so sweetly asking for forgiveness he responds with a softer tone. It's the reason why I love this scene so much.
I like to believe that, if she was hypnotized, it was by her own mind. She perceives her teacher as this angel come to take her father's palace in her life, and thus sees this handsome genius-hence why The phantom's whole appearance, hair and all, changes in final scenes when she rips off the mask.
Gerards voice isnt supposed to be like the opera version, its not what andrew webber and the director wanted for the film! even so, gerard bulter is amazing as the phantom, his voice and acting are brilliant
The idea in the movie was to show his more manipulative side. He makes Christine think he is her protective and all-knowing mentor while he sees her in... well, another way. This is why he uses a softer tone. They changed Christine's character too, making her a young and vulnerable girl instead of an unintelligent and dramatic woman. If you didn't notice, Emmy uses two different vocal tones representing two personalities, one under the mind control of the Phantom.
The critics who rated this movie must have been smoking crack or something or perhaps they are just crazy... But this movie is beautiful, frightening, romantic, musical, and amazingly performed. This is one of my favorite movies and I love the music, too. You can tell that alot of work was put into this movie and it almost makes me angry to think that critics can rate such an amazing film so lowly... Thanks for the video, this is one of my favorite parts of the movie.
Im the same. I have watched almost every version i can find of poto, be it broadway or plays. And in the comments of them all, Gerard seems to get little to no respect. Really, what was so bad about his performance? Also, Gerard's version of the mirror is my hands down favorite, more then Crawford,Panaro, any other of the amazing phantoms over the years.
Some one should make this song with an over lap of music of the night!! just think how powerfully beautiful that would be!!! Angel of music mixed with Music of the night!!!! phantom over load!!!! ^___^
i wish i was chrititine :( when im 18 in 5 years im going to audition for her part on a west end show or soming i always hope if i sing the phantom just might hear me . i hope i can visit pairis opera house soon but they dont let people look down near the under ground lake thats what i read on the websight but i undrrstand how gaston luex got insperation , i just need to see it in real life
This movie is proof that Joel Schumacher can do some things right. Unlike his spectacularly awful Batman movies, the Phantom of the opera is an incredibly good movie.
Looks like "the angel of music (the phantom)" has completely fell in love with Christine and her voice, I mean just listen to it the phantom is ready to Christine's love...well this is going to be interesting, let me know when it gets better
A; The best thing you can do is just read the book. B; While the movie is, as a whole, sub par, the music is beyond excellent. C; Everything I have just said? Completely subjective. Everything you just said? Completely subjective. D; C and D are the only two absolutes in this so far.
I thought he did okay. I mean he's not performing a Broadway show this is a movie so I personally love it but everyone is entitled to a opinion but he didn't have singing lessons and he didn't do horribly.
*Gaston Leroux* sorry for appearing as a grammar Nazi, but I'm half-french and it's a pet peeve of mine. On the other hand, if you do audition for the part of Christine then you just might get lucky, The Paris Opera House is incredible I do hope you can visit it someday.
That's because the phantom is not her master, he is trying to act like something he is not, and so he wants to be sure that Christine likes his company.
I'm pretty sure thats the underwear for one of her dresses. Remember, they wore corsets and such back then a lot. She was probably just in the process of getting ready since it looks like she stepped out from behind a dressing thing.
I understand the slight hate Gerard gets (sorta...I think his acting is good...just...his voice...but not everyone can be Ramin or JOJ)...but I don't see why people hate on Emmy so much. She might not be the best actress but she can definitely sing..especially opera. Her voice is good! Maybe not as powerful as Sierra but not a lot are :P
She looked so adorable when she sang "Angel my soul was weak, forgive me." She really looked sorry there like she was about to cry
I love how at first he seems angry about Raoul but then she apologizes with her sweet voice and he responds with a softer tone. It's why its one of my favorite scenes in the movie and my favorite phantom.

They saw that Christine was practically hyponotized by his singing. Would you be?
It's been four years and I'm still waiting for someone to come out of my mirror and sing to me. :( Sighhhh. I love the Phantom!
Oh god, he can be my master anytime with a voice like thah
I like to believe that, if she was hypnotized, it was by her own mind. She perceives her teacher as this angel come to take her father's palace in her life, and thus sees this handsome genius-hence why The phantom's whole appearance, hair and all, changes in final scenes when she rips off the mask.
When I first saw this I was waiting for the moment when he took off his clothes and had the spartan armor on and scream ''THIS IS OPERA!!!!!!!"
i love how raoul doesn't initially believe the phantom is real (even after this scene) even though he could hear him singing
i love the part where he offers his gloved hand & she reaches, hesitates & then takes it. it's so haunting & beautiful
Gerards voice isnt supposed to be like the opera version, its not what andrew webber and the director wanted for the film!
even so, gerard bulter is amazing as the phantom, his voice and acting are brilliant
This movie is so beautiful. When he sings, I cry... But when he cries, I die a little inside
The idea in the movie was to show his more manipulative side. He makes Christine think he is her protective and all-knowing mentor while he sees her in... well, another way. Why is she soo unbelievably pretty
La voz de Gerard Butler me encanta!!!!

his voice.....when he saying i am there inside i just want to die he did soo well cuz he never had a singing lesson before they shoot this !
The Phantom's voice sounds more powerful from speakers than headphones 0.0 BUT HIS VOICE IS STILL SO BEAUTIFUL.
they did so good in the movie it know one of my favorites :D
Funny how they say "Gerald" in the comments....
ITS GERARD
I love the phantom of the opera. The best ever!!!! I love the Phantom

This is gorgeous. I love this story. Simply wonderful. I'm still waiting for the day I meet a Phantom !
I look in my mirror every time, but indeed...
it stays empty. Darn!
Man, the phantom seems to be taking the term smoke and mirrors to new heights.
this is one of the best part of the movie. His voice is not tradition what brings more plesure to hear
Totally what an angel sounds like.
Some one should make this song with an over lap of music of the night!!
just think how powerfully beautiful that would be!!!
Angel of music mixed with Music of the night!!!!
phantom over load!!!! ^___^
when he sings I am in paradise!! i want to come with him too...
This music is so perfect :D
I'm watching it I chorus this week, we haven't seen all of it, we've only gotten to this part and I can say BY FAR that this is my favorite song
his voice is better than any others
i think the phantoms hot:)
i wish i was chrititine :( when im 18 in 5 years im going to audition for her part on a west end show or soming i always hope if i sing the phantom just might hear me . i hope i can visit pairis opera house soon but they dont let people look down near the under ground lake thats what i read on the websight but i undrrstand how gaston luex got insperation , i just need to see it in real life
You do know that "Master" here is not "My Master" so much as it is the most respectful word for teacher that Christine could have used, right?
And i keep hitting replay....so a lot of those views are mine xD
Did u know the the story "The Phantom of the Opera" is real I'm not kidding eather
I love his voice at the end it's so Hypnotizing
Best song ever !
i watched the film of this like 2 days ago, and now im going to watch it agian:) because I LOVE IT SO MUCH!
This movie is proof that Joel Schumacher can do some things right. Unlike his spectacularly awful Batman movies, the Phantom of the opera is an incredibly good movie.
I watch this movie religiously I can recite it perfectly XD
oh...my...god how I get such chills watching this haunting scene! Love it!
NOT BAD, THAT WAS AMAZING!
I wish I had an angel of music pop out of my mirror and put me in a trance Christine's fricken lucky...!!!!
I am there inside!!!
"Enter at last, master."
Christeen. I think that caused phantom to go coocoo for you :L
Phantom is still hot :3
"I am there inside". It's OK Gerard, I wasn't very fond of my ovaries anyway. *KABOOOOM!*
Looks like "the angel of music (the phantom)" has completely fell in love with Christine and her voice, I mean just listen to it the phantom is ready to Christine's love...well this is going to be interesting, let me know when it gets better
Gorgeous scene! Very well made! ^^
Emmy Rossum. I Love You
I love this movie
A; The best thing you can do is just read the book.
B; While the movie is, as a whole, sub par, the music is beyond excellent.
C; Everything I have just said? Completely subjective. Everything you just said? Completely subjective.

yep me too, I loved it in fact...I fell in love with or under a spell with it at each turn I listened to it.
GERALD PHANTOM!
2 minutes of sexy hypnosis. . .
The pitch in this particular video is higher than in the actual scene from the film, just needed to point it out.
Team Gerard !!!
Wonderful! I'am in love with a Ghost and this vid speaks to me so much!!!
as a matter of fact, i have. And it was amazing. However, when it comes to this song, i still prefer Gerard.
and now she's in shameless?!
no just no Gerard made this movie perfect
yeah eh, agreed or got on with ya onto it, well put, toned sir, well said! Loved the roses round them too! Fell in love alon with it...
Christine & Erik
*Gaston Leroux* sorry for appearing as a grammar Nazi, but I'm half-french and it's a pet peeve of mine. On the other hand, if you do audition for the part of Christine then you just might get lucky, The Paris Opera House is incredible I do hope you can visit it someday.
i don't know about you but if a random guy was in my mirror i'd cover myself... unless it's Gerard Butler... then I'd walk through the mirror xD
Oh the phantom...i also want him in my mirror!!
Good luck Nicola. Keep singing everyday. Bella, I'm with you about that mirror. Especially if any phantom looked that 'horrifying'.
made her look gorgeous, in this video... I loved it in fact, or fell in love alon with it too or as well.
Every time i try looking in my mirror and singing i expect to see the phantom ;)
if it's Gerard Butler or a guy who had that good of a voice... yes. xD
He's a magician.
Its Gerard butler, Emmy Rossum.
That's because the phantom is not her master, he is trying to act like something he is not, and so he wants to be sure that Christine likes his company.
no matter how hard i look or how long... he's still not there :*(
Finally, someone who agrees with me! I don't get why people think he's so great
When I see Phantom in mirror I say SPARTA!!!!!!!!!
I'm pretty sure thats the underwear for one of her dresses. Remember, they wore corsets and such back then a lot. She was probably just in the process of getting ready since it looks like she stepped out from behind a dressing thing.
we watched this in chorus and me a my friend screamed never go with thr guy in your mirror
Yeah, me too. Where can I buy my own phantom?
mmmmm, I´m in love for Christine´s voice!! To me, she´s better than Sarah Brightman... I must tell that I never like Sarah´s too much...
Oops, wrong timing Raoul.... Going with Erik at the beginning might be the best choice she has done in the whole story.
Wait... so if the mirror is also see through, does the phantom...
O_O
@unjichan That's why most of the time you have to decide for yourself and not listen to critics :)
"Enter at last, master."
Pffhahahahaha. Good on you girl.
slave of fashion? DANG RIGHT!!!
so do i!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Four, actually.
yeah, yeah, also raoul doth not stand a chance or doth not got a leg to stand on or against him in this piece! My favourite indeed, my dear! XDD
Not bad Gerard, not bad.
so* because* lessons* shot*
Yes, it'd be verry oquward indeed....
wow
It's creepy how Emmy sings without moving her lips
her slight lisp is driving me insane!
DAMN YOOOOOUUUUU!!!!! TT^TT Now that's all I can hear...
Of course he had singing lessons, four to be exact.
i would be very hypnotised by him if he was luring me to go with him ^_^
Like if you would walk through that mirror too!
