    Such a great video. Local friend is using this method with success and I'm going to give it a try. I've sourced out the undergravel filter off aliexpress. I tried looking at polycarbonate cutting and fusing that looked expensive and messy. So I found these ikea square food container glass ones that fits perfectly. Will give this a try on my shrimp rack. Thanks for the great video and can't wait till the next ones

I found some glass cube food containers 15x15x15 cm. i took my undergravel filter there and it didn't fit. so i was disappointed. about .5 cm off Thne when i was driving back from ikea i realized, hey i can trim the undergravel filter. and watched your video and BAM that's what you did to make the perfect fit! darn it! back to ikea this afternoon! can't wait to add the undergravel filter box to all my shrimp tanks!

    I scored today I saw the ista pH 5.5 in my local fish store for a killer deal. I looked all over couldn't find a price but bought it. Now I am very happy I did. I have just started my first two tanks a week and a half ago and started them with brightwell but my pH has been 7+ but added this to them both and will just consider it starting over from here but I also didn't know much about either - these are my first 2 I have started for caridina.

    Great video. I started doing what one TH-camr was doing. I put the soil in a bucket that i want to use about a month prior to using the soil. I add water from my water changes to help bleed off the ammonia over the month. Each time I do water changes I change the water in the bucket. I add a few snails and some moss to the bucket throughout the month. I found it helps cycling the soil. Do you find different color soils effects the color of the shrimp? Like a lighter/brown soil the shrimp will be lighter in color?

    Hi there, how's it going? Another wonderful video that I sadly only encountered now and will recommend to all my shrimp keeping friends! I have been addicted to your videos for the past couple of weeks. I have a couple of questions, I have encountered a video where you claim that the 5.5PH substrate is no good, and here you recommend it. Which one is correct? Perhaps make a new soil video? I have decided to change the active soil in my caridina setup to improve the breeding, and will now be left with a lot of used soil! (about 24L). Have you any suggestion on what to do with it? I thought about planting some house plants in it, but am afraid the muck that the soil breaks into will block the flow of water to the bottom of the pots.

    • @ShrimpMania
      @ShrimpMania  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, I probably was talking about particularly one brand of soil called 'Ista shrimp pH 5.5' I didn't mean pH 5.5 is not good that was the part of the soil name. 5.5 is good ph for breeding caridina, anything between 5.5 and 6 would work just fine. You can use your old soil for planting plants or your fishtanks if you have any it's up to you. I also using it for growing aquarium plants in the lunch boxes under the light. It works very well

    • @yehon100
      @yehon100 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ShrimpMania Hi, sorry, I was probably unclear. I meant ISTA's 5.5PH which you did not recommend in a future video. Essentially I'm trying to "reset" my 120L tank without resetting it, since I don't have another running tank. I plan on cycling the soil in a bucket with a sponge filter from my tank for how long it would take, and then to replace the Stratum slowly. I will also reduce the amount of soil I have from about 24L to about 3-4L, only to cover the bottom of the tank in a thin layer, and not have the 10cm of soil I have now. I'm looking for advice on which soil to use to get a PH lower than 6.4. I can buy ADA Amazonia V.1 (gold) locally or ISTA 5.5PH online, both are quite expensive compared to Stratum so I want to make sure I get the best and don't regret it. I can also find Akadama for bonsai. What do you think of my overall plan?

      I think 22C is ideal from my experience. prls are more easier shrimp so they breed much faster than Taiwan bees it's quite normal. I have only one ugf box in my 40cm square tank.
