- If you're a student of The Complete WordPress Website Business Course 2.0, you've likely built a practice site at the 60-day free trial Flywheel Hosting account provided for students.
Even if you've used Flywheel Hosting for the default 14-day trial Demo Site, here's how you can restore the site you've built, even after it expires and you lose access to it.
You don't need to have made a migration copy, or exported the site to your local environment or a separate hosting program, or paid Flywheel anything, they will restore your already-built site to the way that it was, and start your trial period over, whether it was for 60 days or 14.
Here's how!

You might be working in flywheel with one of their demo sites, which by default, are 14 day demo sites that you can get for free without putting a payment method in with flywheel. But if you're a student of mine, you have likely use the 60 day free trial, what's our special deal with flywheel hosting.
And if you come to the end of either one of those trials, you might still have a site that you're working on. And we'd like to extend that trial and save that website, instead of having to migrate it or get a backup and then reapply it to a newly installed WordPress site. Well, there's a way you can do that. If you let your site expire in flywheel, you may receive an email that allows you to click a button to restore that site from the backups that they have on file.
And so let's take a look at my website here at flywheel. This is just the login page for app dot get flywheel.com/login. And if I click the Sign In button, when I sign into this one, it just says create a new site. And I don't actually have under sites right here, which is the page where I am now, I don't actually have any sites here I can create a new demo site.
However, I originally built another site here. And so I've received this email here from flywheel that is my cadence theme site. It's a notification that my cadence theme site has been deleted after my 60 day period expired. And so it says if this was a mistake, you can recreate it well, this would just enable you to enable another 60 day period by renewing that demo site again without putting in a payment method or anything like that.
And so let's demo what this would look like if I click recreate your site. While I am logged in in the background for that same account, then they'll just open up flywheel and already be logged in. So that's the easiest way to go. So I've logged into flywheel First, open up this email, and I'm going to click recreate your site. Now since I'm already logged in, it brings me to this page. If you weren't logged in, you would have to log in at that point. And it'll ask you to recreate your site.
So do you want to recreate the cadence theme site and when you want to do if you want to just create it as a demo site again, for another period of time, either 14 or 60 days, then click Create demo site and pay later. And you can leave the same thing as it were was before and then click Create demo site. And it'll give you a progress message. And then you'll receive an email that looks a little bit like this. When you're finished. Your WordPress site is now ready to go it gives you the temporary URL and the WP admin URL.
And in that way, you are able to recreate another 60 day period, or 14 day period if it's the default method of flywheel, but that'll let you recreate your site's instead of losing your work. And so I hope that was helpful when you're using flywheel as your host and you're developing sites within the 60 day trial period. You don't have to lose them after 60 days.
You can just recreate them using this system right here. Or if you want to just create another blank site, you'll be able to renew for the same period of time after that. Hope that was helpful. Have a great one.
Thank you I was able to restart my website 👍
You're welcome!
This really helped me Gregg. I did exactly as you said. I waited for the email and "recreated" the site and got another 30 days, automatically. The client I'm working with is taking a long time to make up his mind and I even used up the second 30 days. When I said something to the Flywheel tech support he actually gave me an addition 60 days!! I have to say, the tech support at Flywheel have been the best I've ever experienced. I'll never go back to Bluehost.
Awesome, thanks for writing. Me too, Flywheel is great.
