I tried this as an emulated game on my android. It just couldn't be played bc of the timing response of the controls. But I played the HELL out of Patapon 1 and 2 on my PSP. One of my fav games of all time. Might buy a PS4 just for this.

I remember on my 13th birthday, me and my mom had just escaped an abusive household, and we were homeless and for my birthday all the money we had left went to a motel room for a month and a psp vita and just the vita with no games. And this is the game it had preinstalled, and it was the only game I had for the longest time. And I didn’t think much of it at first, but it turned out to be a really good game. My 13th birthday is still one of the best birthday I ever had even though we had no where to stay anymore. But for the first time I was free, and hearing patapon reminds me of those times.

My mom was smart and going to nursing school while this was happening so that we eventually could leave. And I would help her as I was in the gifted program and English wasn’t her first language. She was always a good student though so I can’t take a lot of the credit. But yeah I remember at the time my mom would be so worried that I would be traumatized from all of it (which I was of course) but she thought staying in the motels, sometimes by myself while she was at school, would be really hard on me. The first Patapon is much, much less forgiving when it comes to getting perfects. I could get them consistently in 2 and 3, but barely scraped by in the first.
I used to love lying in bed with dad watching my dad play this game it was just so interesting and entertaining for me and watching this video brings back lots of memories 🎮👾
I started with Patapon 2 and definitely I find it more fitting because everytime I hit the drums in time there's a cymbal crash that gives more feel in it. It's the perfect Patapon than the rest.

There was a PC game that had a similar style to this, but you were a lone character that had to deal with monsters like this in a kind of futuristic, steam or cyberpunk world. I wish I could find it again. It was so strange.
I can kinda feel it that you have difficulties finding the perfect time to press a button. I also bought this remastered and had the feeling that there is some kind of delay which makes it impossible to play

In the end of patapon 3,like the end of the credits,you'll hear waves crashing and woods bending (I guess),maybe they've gone to another Quest with the Masked Heroes a.k.a Uberheroes (Though the Hero dies in the final boss)
they can expand the world of patapon by allowing the player to traverse the seas and battle sea monsters and set on expeditions on different islands. They can create like 50 new patapons and introduce new weapons and mechanics. They can create a more lengthy game as well. The possibilities are endless if they decide to make patapon 4, I just really want them to make it already.
Playing the first Patapon game using emulator and bluetooth controller that I bought for my birthday. Works just fine. Missed it and I'm looking forward to Ratatan on the Switch.
