You have a great collection of Phrags Andrew and they all look in perfect health and very well cared for. Your airation of the roots is an interesting one so please keep us informed about the roots of the schlimii. Loved your video and I look forward to seeing more. Thankyou. Ed
Thanks Ed always look forward to your videos and to actually inspired me to expand my paph and phrag collection love your slipper orchids. And I will keep an update on the roots
Great video!! Can you please give me some instructions on how you made your secret weapon. I can see is a bucket with water but I would like to know what kind of aeretor you use. Is it in aquarium supplies? TIA..
Amazing video, I’m definitely going to try your “secret weapon,” that makes so much sense! I may even incorporate a layer of sphagnum moss. I subscribed, keep making videos and sharing your awesome experience!
I just went out an bought an air stone set up,I got a phragmipedium pink panther it had three growths two were on there way out when it arrived and only two good roots,so I'm really hoping this works. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Andrew, I just watched you video and I'm interested in this "secret weapon". I have a phragmipedium cape sunset and had one new growth and it died on me. I'm so disappointed and I don't know what else to do. What kind of medium do you use for them? I live in NC and I have them inside my house. Thanks for your video, very interesting and I'm definitely thinking with your permission copying your idea. Lourdes
Judith Sarcochilus the plant stay in there 24 7 until I feel the roots are big enough to come out and or they can stay in there with a full root system they are not bothered by it thanks for watching
My first Phrag is comming these days and I am really happy. So if I understand good they can be watered really hard, and that medium never dry. I am thinking about let medium sit in tray and flush very often with water. I hope this will be ok. Thank you for great video. Your plants look so amazing ;-)
Yes most phrags like to stay moist and depending on your environment and where they are grown will determine your care routine also some phrags like to approach dryiness like caudatum so know the proper culture for your specific cross is beneficial
Hi Andrew! I’ve been rewatching your bubbler videos and want to try it on my pearcei. The one that probably came from Ecuegenera... hardly any roots. Anyhow I just wanted to ask if 1. Is there a hole in the bottom of the clay pots? I’m assuming one. 2. Does it work as well if in plastic pots with lots of air holes? I live in Maine and have a wood stove in the next room so my humidity is awful! At best 30%. So I’m doing all I can to add some moisture without rotting. Any advice is most welcome!!! Thank you 🙂
Jenny S well I have used the bubble in basically any type of pot and reservoir the main goal is to allow you to have a large quantity of water to keep the moisture near the base of the plant and keep it from going stale in between water changes
I have read many articles by phrag breeders and experts that say the root tips going brown means it is not getting enough water or it needs repotting and doesn’t have anything to do with not flushing the orchid or over fertilisation, what do you think of this opinion?
Rachel Killcare honestly Ive heard many things like too much fertilizer and wrong media and not enough water. Not enough water could be very true which would lead me to think that if not enough water is being given it’s probably a salt build up but that’s just my thoughts as I dont know how these people grow their plants as for my plants I keep them wet and water them frequently and fertilize frequently but also give them rest periods too. So for me I rarely suffer from browning leaf tips the only plant that I have with browning tips is a plant that I recently received and it did seem to be kept quite dry also I have know idea of how it was fertilized so I could have salt build up it is still on the road to recovery so only time will tell. We as growers need to take all advise from others with caution because every grower grows in different conditions temp media environment and so forth.
Sorry for the late response for me the fresher the water the better for phrags but the bubbler allows the water to be used for a longer period of time without it going stagnant. I water my phrags about everyother day through out the year although sometimes times I may get lazy and go a week without looking at them.
Andrew’s orchid balcony : thank you for your information! I will try to set up the secret weapon! hope will make it work! if you can let me know the weapon system set up that will help a lot! thank you!
Use stand the pot in clear clean water and let salt build ups dissolve run under water to flush any remaining out the pot also leaf damage can occur when these plants are left too dry they like to be moist at all times with fresh water
I'm not sure about the construction of the aerator. You have an air pump from an aquarium; what's the hose on the bottom? I don't have any phrag's so I don't really need one but am always interested in people's ideas.

How long do you set your plants in your bubble tank? Do you leave them in there continuously or put them in for an hour or whatever at a time?
Judith Sarcochilus the plant stay in there 24 7 until I feel the roots are big enough to come out and or they can stay in there with a full root system they are not bothered by it thanks for watching
Thanks - interesting and innovative approach (I never would have thought of doing that!), but it makes sense when you think of how they grow,.

Rachel Killcare root tips or leaf tips ?
Leaf tips sorry wrote the wrong thing

Will this method works for Paphiopedilums as well? I have a Paphio whose leaves looks very dry and wrinkly, and hoping to boost up its root system.
Hi Andrew How often do you flush the phrags when they are on the bubbler. I’m just setting one up for myself.
Sorry for the late response for me the fresher the water the better for phrags but the bubbler allows the water to be used for a longer period of time without it going stagnant. @@Druexotics thanks Andrew. Looking forward to your next video!
Can you let me know what type the mixed you used? Small wood chips gravel?
SuperFlo8888 I use mainly inorganic media lava leca large perlite because I keep them so wet the key is to keep the water fresh

My phrag is showing black tips on the leaves, you are saying salt? How do you flush ? Help please, is it because of the food ?
Use stand the pot in clear clean water and let salt build ups dissolve run under water to flush any remaining out the pot also leaf damage can occur when these plants are left too dry they like to be moist at all times with fresh water

Does the clay pot has a hole at the bottom or its solid?
alaindelonhj yes

Paul it’s an air line connected to a air stone for an aquarium just like for fish tanks
