"Once I forgave a predator because to avoid drama in my friend group, " this hurts a lot because I was sexually assaulted by my ex stepbrother and before I told my mom I thought to myself for a minute. I thought something horrible. And sometimes honestly I think this on my worst days. Wouldn't have been easier if I stayed quiet? I don't agree with this at all but it's sad that those thoughts even crossed my mind.
I am so sorry this has happened to you. No one should have to suffer in silence. You are very brave for telling your mother. I hope things are better for you now. ♡

@Puck Shack while i do believe that men have no obligation to protect and shelter all the women in their life, my comment was on a whole other issue about ppl seeing an injustice and not saying anything thus allowing it to continue bc they did nothing
I'm sorry for non-reporting guilt. My own experience with rape trauma has taught me how survival mode works. How my Vagus nerve with adrenaline rushing while being attacked fits the reaction of my body. How it's not my fault that I said no, but had to submit out of fear while being pulled by the arm.
16 is a troubling time for any teen, more so when bullied from 13, and then have to add rape at 16, the trauma is too much. It's time to shut down, not hear myself in the mind I'm now wanting nothing to do with. That's the trauma of dissociation, and with any other issues, like anxiety, depression and loneliness, survival mode is to just fit in, and remain silent.
No guilt.

Blythe always says so many things that I always feel too afraid to say even to my own mother. Blythe makes me feel like I am somehow heard.
this hurts so much because i’ve been through all of these exact experiences and i know i’m not the only one
This is really interesting, us guys have no idea what women go though privately. Our existence can be really threatening to them without us realizing it.
They don't know what we go through, but that doesn't stop them from projecting privilege and ease onto out lives

no. same poem, different event. the 2016 video is from a slam, i believe. this one was filmed during her book tour for 'If My Body Could Speak'
