This bag turns out so pretty. It is for a more intermediate sewists only because of a few curves. I cut the legs off the jeans by cutting down the sides seams of a pair of old jeans. I used both legs of the jeans for this bag. At first I was going to make the flap with the denim side out but I changed my mind and did the floral side out. That's the fun part about being creative with your bag making. I love the outcome. It is the perfect size. The final measurements are 6"HX10"LX3"W. I quilted the flap and front and back layers by drawing even lines horizontally and vertically with a ruler and disappearing marker to add some style and texture to this bag. My maker ran out so I had to use a pencil but you really don't want to add any marks on your fabric so make sure you use chalk or a marker that disappears.
    You will need:
    a pair of old jeans
    1/2 yard of cotton fabric
    1/2 yard fusible fleece
    cotton stabilizer
    2 D-rings
4 rivets to attach the handle
    one snap closure
    at least a 12" zipper
    a strip of leather 11.5"
a strap of your liking (I used a gold chain strap)
    The measurements include:
front and back 2 main outer panels 6"X10" and 2 for the lining panels
    cut 2 pieces of fusible fleece 6" X 10"
I also added 2 pieces of sew in stabilizer for a little extra support to add between the layers of the outer and lining panels.
For the zipper casing use a 12" or longer zipper
cut 2 outer pieces 2"X10" and 2 for the lining pieces and 2 fusible interfacing pieces
cut 2 small pieces 2"X3" inches for the D-rings
    For the Gusset
cut outer piece and lining piece 4"X 21"
cut 2 strips for the bias tape 2"X31" to go all around the 2 sides of the gusset to cover the raw edges of the gusset inside the bag.
For the flap cut 2 pieces 7L"X8W" for the outer layer and the lining pieces
you want to keep the flap put of the seam as much as possible to make it easy to sew around the curves.
(if you would like a longer flap add a few more inches to the length 10"LX 8"W)
also cut the fusible fleece the same size. You can add a middle layer of cotton stabilizer for extra stability if you wan t like I did.
I also cut bias tape to cover the edge of the flap 2"X22" inches or a little longer. You can cut the excess off afterwards before attaching to the back panel. Make sure which ever side you want to show gets attached with the right side facing down towards the right side of the back panel.
Cut the handle strap 11.5 inches
Remember: when clipping the curves by attaching the gusset to the front and back layers of the bag, snip small cuts in the curve so the fabric can spread a little. This makes it a little easier to spread the fabric around the curves on the corners.
