This is the truth, but even when you don't speak, it's a problem. I had issues for being quiet. Even a 1 on 1 conversation, someone is listening and will run to management and tell what they THINK they heard.
Minding you business gets you targeted. Talking too much gets you in drama. Being the class clown gets you not taken serious. Being too nice gets you ran over. Being a good Samaritan "cpt save a h()" gets you in the middle of stuff. Doing your job right gets you in competitions. You can't win for lose with these jobs.😂😂 Thats why i just remain neutral, firm, fair, and consistent. You going to get the same ME everyday. Neutral, indifferent.
I just started my new job in December. By nature and because of life experiences, I am 90 percent introverted. I have had people at my job tell my superiors that I am rude because I do not engage in small talk or cliquish. In my defense, they told my co-workers that I am the nicest guy in the world who keeps to himself.

I often tend to do the exact opposite of what society does. Majority of people often tell everyone about their Wins and a lot of the time they exaggerate their wins and hide their losses. I do the exact opposite. I'll tell you about my Losses and even exaggerate them, heck ill even make up a loss lol and keep my Wins to myself. Because i learnt a long time ago that people like to see or hear about other people's struggles so i figured ill give them something to entertain thesmelves with. Also telling people about your wins oftens comes with envy, jealousy. We live in a society where people don't mind that you are doing well, so long as you are not doing better than them. So you let them think that way and keep you off the radar. And more often than not these same people that may be envious or jealous of you if they feel you are doing better than them will be a lot more caring and even helpful if they do not think you are doing better than them, but you actually are. Hide your wins and exaggerate or outright make up your losses ;)

All of these things you discuss here reminds me of a woman at my job that puts gossip and knowing things about people at the forefront of here very existence. She's hit her 40s, never took care of herself, and basically has lived the identity of "I'm a strong successful independent woman" for over a decade and just isn't ready to give it up. Gossips all day long. This woman wouldn't pass you a glass of water if you were on fire. She is constantly walking around talking about how busy she is, but she's never doing anything. So she just walks around all day. I say "if you're not doing anything, can you give me a hand with this?" And she gets angry and defensive and says things like "Uh uh! I got way too much work". And so I'll say something like "Oh. My bad. Since I saw you just hanging around and talking about (ANY GIVEN CO WORKERS NAME), you might've had some free time".
I also gotta mention. I will never forget the day I took up an offer from a female coworker (50) who was what you call “too good to be true” character. She tried to get all friendly, talked about her history at work and her wrestling career and that she had a business. I sat there asking myself what she doing here working at a janitorial job when she had all this in the past? Even promising that she’ll teach me how to do my job more efficiently etc and talk shit about my supervisor. I took her up on her offer to give me a ride home and she did. This was before she turned on me for no apparent reason. The same lady who tried to falsify shit to the police to get me locked up on false charges. Thank God I had a lawyer so the judge drop the charges thankfully but she was a bastard snake lady. I don’t take rides from no one anymore. Especially after the snake bit be in my soul with that level of manipulation she did. She even was like “now I know where you live” type of creepy shit. Never again did I fall for that trap. Now I just take the bus to work. Saves me money and my mental health. If anyone offer me a ride. I just turn them down and order a Uber on a rainy day and take the bus the rest of the week.

The worst part was she preyed on me because 1) I was very young and 2) I was naive and stupid to believe her shit and 3) narcissists are predators and seek to find the weakest link to pull a stunt on them like that. This has only further motivated me to get my butt back to college and not work these low level jobs. I've seen too much injustice done at this point especially with regards to employers not listening to their employees grievances. I now know to just listen and if I spot any red flags with what a coworker is saying. Is to not believe them and deny their offers even if it's too good to be true. I just started a job with no ride home. No bus. Uber$$$$ not worth it. I asked a coworker for a ride home and paid him well. Get's $100.00 a week. Costs him $20.00 in gas + time. We are both broke and this helps keep costs in check. A real blessing. That person may need you so think twice before dismissing them. We are human. But I agree if they expect it for free.
My 2nd to last job I got snaked out by my assistant manager and GM to replace me and my last job I had 3 ppl go to HR to get me fired. Dude was leaving notes in the break room signing my name threatening somebody and all kinds of crazy stuff. Only reason I kept that job is because my supervisor had to go to HR and her supervisor personally all 3 times 😂. The guy got fired. Ended up leaving a few months after we came back from covid. That 2 month break before we came back opened my eyes up. Ppl wicked out here man. I quit in January and been working for myself since 2021 and haven't missed that life at all.

Sometimes some of us actually want to grow and prosper at work. Some professions making it through the whole employment process is exhausting so we get stuck thinking well grow, move up the ladder. Some people are actually pleasant if treated right.

The car ride reminded me of a story from a friend. This girl asked for a ride. He did. Then she accused him of sexual misconduct. The thing is he is gay. So obviously it didnt play out as she thought. After a week of investigation, she went up to him for ride. She fr? After all that she still asking for ride. 😂😂😂. He said no n she reported hr for discrimination. (Didnt work out obviously). No one wanted to work with her n slowly she quit. Then few months, a job called my mgr to ask about her as she applied to that job. Apparently she told them that she quit cause people were harassing her constantly. Going through this now I’m introverted and it’s a problem a older lady mad at me for whatever reason all she do is gossip about everyone and once I heard what she said bout me I completely ignored her existence! I just started a job with no ride home. No bus. Uber$$$$ not worth it. I asked a coworker for a ride home and paid him well. Get's $100.00 a week. Costs him $20.00 in gas + time. We are both broke and this helps keep costs in check. A real blessing. That person may need you so think twice before dismissing them. We are human. But I agree if they expect it for free.
My 2nd to last job I got snaked out by my assistant manager and GM to replace me and my last job I had 3 ppl go to HR to get me fired. Dude was leaving notes in the break room signing my name threatening somebody and all kinds of crazy stuff. Only reason I kept that job is because my supervisor had to go to HR and her supervisor personally all 3 times 😂. The guy got fired. Ended up leaving a few months after we came back from covid. That 2 month break before we came back opened my eyes up. Ppl wicked out here man. I quit in January and been working for myself since 2021 and haven't missed that life at all.
When I tell you , these was 💎 don’t forget when you transfer to another state with the same company and you try to be friendly and you the only one and nothing you do is good enough they team up against you like your a parasite and you flip the script and keep it strictly professional and they can’t stand it😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

You definitely have to know your boundaries when dealing with people. I learned the hard way when I first entered the workforce as a teenager.
Sometimes some of us actually want to grow and prosper at work. Some professions making it through the whole employment process is exhausting so we get stuck thinking well grow, move up the ladder. Some people are actually pleasant if treated right.

The car ride reminded me of a story from a friend. This girl asked for a ride. He did. Then she accused him of sexual misconduct. The thing is he is gay. So obviously it didnt play out as she thought. After a week of investigation, she went up to him for ride. She fr? After all that she still asking for ride. 😂😂😂. He said no n she reported hr for discrimination. (Didnt work out obviously). No one wanted to work with her n slowly she quit. Then few months, a job called my mgr to ask about her as she applied to that job. Apparently she told them that she quit cause people were harassing her constantly. Truth were told to that job n thats that.😂😂😂
