Lukas N. If you wanted more we could look at Naxxramas level 60 for a good example. 0.1% of US guilds downed Kel'Thuzad that's like 23 guilds. Hundreds of guilds broke up because of it. You needed 8 geared tanks. The 40 man raids dropped like 3 items split among 40 people so nobody was geared enough for Naxx. You had to farm frost resistance gear which is the rarest resistance in the game. You had to farm consumables which especially for a healer was slow as hell all week to inevitably wipe on bosses because tier 2.5 wasn't strong enough either. Damage was really high for example Anub'Arak did the same damage at 60 he did at 80. His DOT tick would do 1250-1500 every 2 seconds and silence. Wrath was like 1300-1600 except in wrath you had like 10x the hp so in Vanilla you got like 3 shotted. Healers would run out of mana all day. There's no doubt that the raid boss mechanics in MoP and WoD have certainly gotten harder or more complicated but having almost nobody down 1 single boss in Naxx is saying something let alone 0.1% clearing it.
Gi2moCinema But that hard part was not about game mechanics, but mostly about the gear "snowball" effect. You needed stable guild rooster through the vanilla/TBC raid tiers. Since gearing was so hard/slow, if guild lost like main tank they have been gearing last 6 months, it was significant progress issue. Naxx40 would not be that hard with 40 ppl having full BWL/AQ gear. Also need for 8 tanks was obviously design flaw they will never repeat.
There is one thing I can't understand, why are blizzard slacking with making different looks on the gear ? The gear you could retrieve in tbc was MUCH cooler imo, it feels like all the items in wotlk looks the same ;S They are just changing colours on it. Anyone feels the same ?

Naxx was made because no one had the chance to do naxx in pre-BC. Plus no one did naxx in BC. It had nothing to do with gear.
