I got my phone down 1 just the home screen and completely removed all of the "slot machine" apps on my phone (such as Facebook and the like). I barely touch my phone anymore unless I actually need it for something. Thanks! I'm loving this podcast so far.
I'l be honest, as a 16 year old planing my life and job that I want right now. Grey. You have terrified me, omg. But also thank you so much, decade old me later will thank you!
Cubicles are overrated (as long as you like the people you work with). I worked in a cubicle for 4 years, got a job at another company where I had no cubicle, sat with two people either side of me, 3 behind and 3 in front. The collaboration of my work went through the roof, no longer needing meetings, just pivot my screen over to my dev and ask him a couple questions, 5 minutes tops. They did encourage the use of "quiet cubicles" and "hot desking" at cafes if you needed to cut yourself off from people. I'm back at my old job (run out work visa) in my cubicle, I noticed how much clutter I'm allowing and I feel cut off from my team, manager and people in general. Also I browse way more (as I am currently doing now).
London's weather sounds nice if you can just walk around and find a place to sit for a couple hours and walk more. Try doing that in Houston, TX without your clothes being drenched through with sweat and shoes melted to the pavement.
Actually, when you started talking about "occupying the distractable part of your brain, the other 'something'" you reminded me of "You are two". Could this sense of having a distractable part of the brain tie into the fact that humans may (most likely) have two different consciousnesses in their mind?
If I remember correctly he does make a distinction between caffeine pills and "the drug in its pure form". Its a lot easier to OD on pure caffeine powder because unless you have a scale to measure the grams, you are eyeballing the dosage.
Later on in the podcast you mentioned that there was one point in your life when you put everything you had in to TH-cam as a job did that change and if so why and it did you get another job full-time?
I am inspired by you to make a youtube channel. This is very helpful and useful for me while animating. by the way what software do u use to animate and record.
surely it would be better to have one bag plus a sports sack for the gym clothes and you pickup both to go to the gym and half everything else that needs to be maintained...
Saying that your brain is 80% monkey and 20% human is such an incredibly optimistic way of viewing it. My estimation of the average human brain is more along the lines of 30% monkey, 20% lizard, 4% miscellaneous dumbness,
The four things Grey needs in order to do work is... an iPad+stand+keyboard (that would just be a fucking laptop) and headphones? If you're about efficiency, why not just have the 2 things instead of 4?
Dear CGP Grey, I love when you teach me smart ass stuff on your channel so that I can be a smart ass at lunch time at work. I drew some parallells between the British royal house (that you told) and the Swedish (about which i know quite a lot), and I both impressed and educated my fellow coworkers. This kind of video does not contribute to my knowledge about anything. Teach me something, please! I don't care about this kind of videos.
I started finally listening to this. I usually use it as background noise while I'm gaming, drawing, or at my retail job
As I watch this, Im making a stuffed animal fort
same, i listend to it while i was sleeping last nightlol

Your work is worth it, Mike. Even if no one listens here. 😉

"Who is Train Jenny?" - I thought to myself not yet realizing that you're talking about a train journey
Grey, I believe you said people who consume caffeine in its pure form were 'nutjobs'.....
If I remember correctly he does make a distinction between caffeine pills and "the drug in its pure form". Its a lot easier to OD on pure caffeine powder because unless you have a scale to measure the grams, you are eyeballing the dosage.
No, specifically stated taking the drug in its pure form. Not in coffee.
I REMEMBER THAT
Good archival work, Mr. Walsh!

For The Door!
Office Space being a little too real... is just like one of his other movies: Idiocracy, which is becoming a little too real as well
This episode sorta makes me think grey has some undiagnosed ADHD

I've always had battery issues with my Macbook Pro. Never with my Ipad.

If you are a fan of C.G.P. Grey then you would know that there is a 0% chance of him reading this comment
So because it's not your cup of tea he shouldn't make it? Meh.
no one cares
Bugger off.
Grey seems quite uncomfortable in these podcasts.
+TheAlphaFactor No he doesn't.
I'm sad Grey has such a bad taste in music
No, it's just that All Day really is great for concentration. Try it.
So move, bitch, get out the way :P
Anyone else pause this to go and check out Girl Talk - All Day??? (it's awesome and you definitely should)
