Steve hurt his ankle while hiking and it delayed the tour for Trial By Fire until the studio was done waiting. They worked with the soundtrack for the movie Armageddon and brought Augeri on board. I think Remember Me is one of their best songs. Augeri was my favorite after Perry. A great guy all around with an incredible voice. Ross is doing well enjoying life and making music he has been wanting to put out for years. He is active on social media and music streaming platforms and he has a channel right here on youtube! As a Journey song it perfectly showcases the bands individual and combined talents. Perry's great vocals, Schon's soaring guitar and Valorys bass . I think Ross Valory was a super bassist who didn't get the accolades he deserved...

One of the great things about channels like this is that you spend 30/40 years really enjoying a bass line, usually not a well known one, and thinking that you must be the only one. Then you discover TH-cam and players like Troy who not only dig the playing but have the talent and take the time and effort to show how it's done. Awesome as always. This is the actual song / bassline that inspired me to pick up the bass almost 33 years ago. Borrowed a Peavey bass and a 50 watt Gorilla amp from a neighbor and spent 2 weeks learning this song. Many years and basses later it is still a favorite. Thanks for this one !

I remember a blue jean girl on the lawn at Saratoga Performing Arts Center when Journey played during this tour. LOVE this bass line! He did SOOOOO many cool things in this song... And on the entire album. I have played this a lot and you are so right about that 2 string jump off that driving low G.. Took me forever to get comfortable with it... The treat was playing that really high part after it :)

Thanks to you I've come to appreciate just how fantastic a bassist Ross Valory is and how insanely fun his bass parts are. on that note, I submit that I'd love to see you tackle Edge of the Blade off of Frontiers. it's maybe my favorite song of theirs and the bass part is a blast from front to back. literally the perfect blend of exhilarating and energetic parts with juuuuust the right amount of technique and finesse necessary to get it just right.

You play the C, I play a B for the third of the major triad, but now that I hear this, I think you are correct as that's played over a Csus 4 I believe. Makes Ross' dexterity on this even more challenging to cover. Nice job!

Btw, I'm pretty sure Neal Schon wrote this bass line, which would explain the guitar-like part at the end. I have seen an interview of Ross talking about how Neal wrote it, but he (RV) made it his own.

I remember the first time I heard this song and thought to myself I just gotta learn that bass-line! Toughest part for me was "The Fret Dance" in that chorus! I improvised that part so much that I wasn't sure what the correct version was anymore at the time🤣! Journey had some killer tunes to be sure and was able to see them Live when Steve Perry was still in the Band! And like many Bands, this group had their fair share of in-house drama. I always felt Ross Valory got shafted Big Time by Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain long after Perry had already split the scene! Great fun watching you dissect the bass parts of a tune! You are right..The Hardest Part is keeping ALL the strings covered so reverbs do not echo everywhere! Cheers From Ohio Troy!
