    Recipe of the week!
    This weeks recipe of the week was from our
    Kool Beanz Casuarina centre.
    The recipe is “San Choy Bau” made by Chef Clare.
    Our little beanz have been very productive in their very own veggie garden here at Kool Beanz Academy!
    They are growing all kinds of fruits and vegetables, this not only enhances their hands on learning skills, but it is so much fun for the children when they get the chance to see their achievements come to life in a fun cooking experience 💕
    Recipe of the week is✨
    “San Choy Bau”
    Ingredients:
    1 tbsp sesame oil
    2 garlic cloves
    1 spring onion
    500g pork mince
    1 carrot (grated)
    2 tbsp oyster sauce
    1 iceberg lettuce
    1 tin water chestnuts (chopped)- water chestnuts are an aquatic tuber, therefore are not considered a nut.
    1 tin baby corn (chopped)
    Method:
    Step 1:
    Heat oil in a wok or large frying pan over high heat and add garlic and spring onion, cook for 2-3 minutes whilst stirring until softened.
    Add pork, stirring to break up any clumps, until brown and cooked. Drain off any liquid.
    Step 2:
    Reduce heat, add carrot, spring onion, chest nuts and baby corn and cook for 5 minutes. Cover with a lid and leave on low for a further 2 minutes. Stir in oyster sauce.
    Allow mixture to cool a little.
    Step 3: Rinse and trim the base from the lettuce. Discard older outer leaves. Separate whole leaves from the lettuce head and trim with scissors to form cups.
    Step 4: Put pork mixture in middle of table and let everyone help themselves to fill their lettuce leaf cups.
    Suggestion-( Add your favourite vegetables to extend the flavour)
    By adding the water chestnuts and baby corn it gives it that extra texture and flavour!
