- Initially, Dubey Ji was assistant to music director G. S. Kohli. Later, he was called for S. D. Burman and R. D, Burman’s recordings, and continued with them for a long time. If you can recall the songs Kajra Muhabbat Wala, Piya Tose Naina Laage Re, ‘Hothon Pe Aisi Baat’, Yamma Yamma, Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, Bangle Ke Peechhe, Ai Mere Humsafar, ‘Tumko Piya Dil Diya all are unforgettable hits. Also, their rhythm pattern has been remarkable and in these songs, Dholak's part was contributed by Dubey Ji.
With the reference of GS Kohli, OP Nayyar liked his playing and he became a permanent musician for all his recordings till his last film. After Nayyar Sahab, he joined Chitragupt and later Anand Milind, he become a rhythm arranger with them too. Dubeyji has always admired Uttam Singh Ji and is almost a member of his recordings, to date.
Today many of his students are working in the film industry. Team Swar Aalap Digital is happy that we are still in touch with each one of them and keep remembering the golden memories of the time.
