This demo was so interesting and valuable info. I have seen so many people on uTube adding rooting to wigs and some of them get so wild, crazy & do it so quickly that I can’t even tell what they’re doing! Thank you for your slow, methodical approach. I could follow what you were doing and you made me feel I could do it. Your helpers added such a fun “anyone can do this” aspect to the demo that added a true realism to the whole process and made it less “scary”. Thank you for creating such helpful content. Keep it coming! 😘
Thank you Susan!! That is really helpful info for future tutorials! And, we're the older ladies, so I like it when other coaches go slow too. xoxo Rochelle
Yes, agreed! Actually, we made other videos while I was in Utah and they're on our channel. Now that I'm in CA full time, we'll see what the future holds! Thanks, Ro xo
Thanks Ladies for a great video! Adding roots and/or low lights is something I've been wanting to try with the Coptic markers on my lovely girl, Madison in creamy toffee! Rochelle, you once again "covered" a fun topic that I needed to learn about! 💖☮️💐 Thank you! 😊
awesome video ladies!! so much FUN!! I 🥰 the root spray best.. it also gave the wig more body! lovely colors!! the gray one was fantastic also.. need to 😷😷up! thanx for the great ideas! 💯🤳💯🤳💯🥳XO
Blue hair was from a popular hair rinse called Fanci-ful that was bluish in color in order to tame down the yellowing of aged grey hair. My mom used it
Great Vlog - Science Lab Experiments 101! I had wondered if possible to permanently Lighten a wig with an extreme drastic dark root. You have given ideas to experiment on older cheaper wigs first, before having try on to a newer rooted wig. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for the root demo! I was always curious as to how this was done and really enjoyed watching the various techniques to accomplish such natural looking roots. I look forward to watching all of your Monday videos.
That was fun and I liked the way you three work together sharing and talking about what you are doing. It was very informative and I appreciate the time and effort you all put into it. I would probably use the markers if I did something like that. I don’t think I’ll ever have that luxury because whatever wigs I buy I will use as is. Thanks ladies you were all great.
I actually rooted my RW Fascination in Biscuit today, it was way too yellow for me, I used l'oreal temporary root color on the roots and also added low lights, now I will wear her.
Thanks! I've learned that I have to think about something first before I can find the possibilities...I agree - who knew? Of course, this was new territory - but so is everything for the first time! xo Ro
Thanks for the video! You and these ladies were great. I have used the pink can coverup, but never thought of the eye shadow. They may have the markers at Hobby Lobby. 💓
What an interesting video! I never thought about putting darker roots into wigs yourself. That was great to watch and and Debbie was very professional. Ellie was a great wig head to practice on. 😂 Love all three of you ladies. I'm loving my new Sheila in Harvest Gold. 😊
This was fun, I never thought of coloring the roots with a little eye shadow or spray color. Thank you all for trying this out and sharing. Have a great week! As for blue hair - I don't know about other regions but here in SC, I was told "Blue Haired Ladies" were the wives of morticians of course, this is the south and they can tell some doozies here. As I understand it though blue rinse was supposed to be used to tone-down grey hair when it yellows like makeup primers we use for skin tone. Not sure what causes the yellowing though.
Thanks ladies! That was some good ole girl time. :) I use the ever pro on my own roots. It's the only kind that doesn't itch my scalp. I hold my breath, spray, walk away from the area, then blend with my finger tips. It does leave a residue but also plumps up my hair so it's all good! Oh and it does make my fingers icky but I use soap and a finger nail brush to get it off. (Gloves are a good idea though!)
This was so helpful. There’s so many times I’ve wanted one of GSW’s in a rooted gray color…except there aren’t any rooted gray colors offered in ANY wig. So I’m forced to purchase elsewhere. Thank you for this super idea!
Greetings Rochelle! Fortunately I don't really care for the dark roots, so I have never tried to put in a root. However, I think this is a great resource in case I ever need to! Love and blessings ♥️🙏
What fun! I just saw that you are now doing rooted Freedom in greys. Looking forward to more so that we don't have to experiment ourselves. Being able to have different toned roots is awesome though. What a great trio you are:) I wonder if wearing a Covid face mask while doing the sprays would make it less smelly?
I loved this! Thank you for sharing! Couple of questions; Was using the 70 % alcohol too harse ? You also mentioned the 3rd choice feeling glumpy. His that improve????
😅 oh my word I have been using eye shadow since last year to add roots to my reg hair. I use a big blush brush.i just apply on the crown where I grey and brush from the center and down, but not all the way through. It keeps until you wash your hair. It won't wash out if you get caught in the rain. I use dark brown or dark grey
This is a helpful video for most people who love rooted wigs. I have to giggle, though, because as a platinum blonde, I seem to spend my LIFE covering my dark roots. LOL
I used copic markers on one of my wigs to add some low lights and extra dimensions of colors. It ran when my wig got wet and it bled on my clothes even when the weather was dry.
I did not notice anything different to the fibers. I did wash them to see if the roots would stay or not, so I can't guarantee over time that anything would change or not. I suggest to try an old wig - I would play with the eye shadow and hair spray over it myself! xo Ro
Oh how I wish I could come to you guys. Because I'm very interested in buying a wig or two but uncertain how it will look on me I BOUGHT a top piece from you guys but I think the wig might be better I DO need help
Hi Chandra, here's a link to see if we have a GS Wig Consultant near you: info.godivassecretwigs.com/find-a-consultant. Just scroll down to your state. Hope this helps! Ro
Hi Francis - glad you asked! We have 3 men's wigs that would work with women too. They are amazing, light, airy and natural looking. Here's the link to see them: godivassecretwigs.com/collections/mens. Thanks, Ro
Yes, that will work too. I have to pull and clip the hair very tight so the mascara wand doesn't get tangled in loose hair. Try it on the back bottom of a wig and see how it goes - or your own hair! xo Ro
Would a mask help those sensitive to strong scents? Coptic markers have a permanent marker scent. Add that with the alcohol scent and it may be bothersome for some people.
I just rooted and retoned a color disaster wig (absolutely NOT a Godiva!!!) that was well made but was completely unnatural looking... think mustard and apricot jam. :D I used a combination of wood touch-up markers ($10 for 6 shades, 4 of which were useful), Sharpies and Marks-a-Lot in various shades of browns and red-brown tones. It did lose a tiny bit of color with the first wash, but I think it'll last through several washes bf I need to retouch it again. The Blue Hairs... ladies in my family used Mrs. Stewart's Laundry bluing diluted as a rinse to counter the yellowing in their mousey gray hair... use too much and you have a blue cast to your hair.
Loved reading every word of your comment Marcella!! You are who I call "Creagous" - Creative and Couragous!! (My word - I use it all the time!) And, the Blue Hairs, what a great story - can you imagine Sunday Socials and Blue Hair??? xoxo Ro
My grandmother used to use Nestle’s capsules of blue hair dye from the dime store to tone her white hair. They needed to be dissolved in hot water before pouring through the hair. Occasionally she wouldn’t get the dye completely dissolved and would end up with blue/purple spots in the back of her hair where she didn’t see them. Hence the “blue haired lady”.😂😂😂
those always come off on your hands, i prefer the brush on powder but it get on hands if you touch so i would just tap if had an itch lol plus they wash out
When I was a youngster, my grandma used to take me to her hair salon where they applied a blueing to her white hair so it wasn't yellow. In the beginning, it was quite blue and eventually faded until one did it again. God only knows what it was in it.
I much older than you Rochelle. I remember when I was a small child there was a fad among older ladies who tinted their white hair either blue or purple. Those colors were actually very pretty on some ladies. Thus the phrase “blue haired” old ladies.
Thanks for your story on Blue haired ladies! I think we're getting different stories; maybe from different parts of the country! Anyway, go blue haired ladies!! Just "seasoned" women having fun with color and hair!!! Just like us! xo Ro
Hi. Actually it wasn't a fad. They had a Roux Rinse applies to their hair to hide any yellowing in their white or grey hair, often caused by smoking. Having grown up in a beauty salon, these rinses were very commonly used with the pin curl and finger wave ladies of days gone by. 🙂
This video has me laughing out loud. I'm trying a different thing with my dark wigs These days the contrast just too harsh for me. SO??? Well, you know how much I love the silvers, so I'm putting silver strands in my dark wigs! I KNOW you want to know what my most successful technique is, AAAANNNDD (drum roll) DecoColor Premium Oil Based Opaque Metallic Paint Markers! This works if you want a few silver strands or very small streaks here and there. CAVEATS: Important!! This is PERMANENT. It will not wash out. Also, it's not for roots or anything where you want great swaths of color. For that I use regular acrylic paints, and I prefer a stiffer paint brush. CAVEAT THE SECOND: This is a very time-consuming process. Do it when you don't have anything pressing for the day. I'm pleased with what I got and am now planning to try it with the gold and copper colors for a sun-kissed look. I tried the first two techniques myself and wasn't satisfied with my outcome, however I really like the results you got with the spray. Very soft and subtle, and very quick application. I will try that one on one of my too-light blondes. SUGGESTION: If you're sensitive to aerosols (and as an asthmatic I AM) get yourself an inexpensive packet of filter masks. They keep the worst of the gases out of your lungs. Now I have a question about your technique. You're most scrupulous about avoiding alcohol in your hairspray, but are using a tremendously strong alcohol for the paint job. How much damage with that amount of chemical do? Also, what can you do to mitigate that damage? Will Keep It Sleek or Vivace help? As always, it's a pleasure to see Ellie and Debbie. Someday I hope to meet them. This was so much fun! Sending love. ❤
I don't know Diane!!! That is, about the alcohol. I figured it would be a one time use... In my own spare time (none right now) I will look into that...xoxoxo Love what you shared that worked for you, excellent!!! Ro xo

I love Debbie. She is very creative and focused. You should have her on the shows more often.
Yes, agreed! Actually, we made other videos while I was in Utah and they're on our channel. Now that I'm in CA full time, we'll see what the future holds! Thanks, Ro xo
Wow! Ladies thank you 3 so very much!!! All this information was very helpful and I learned so much. 🎉
Thank you! xo Ro
This was very informative. I’ve never seen this done before and you three ladies looked like you were having fun! Thanks to all of you ladies ❤
Dear Clearly, it was fun trying something very new to all of us! Thanks, Ro oxo
Ellie looks so pretty in the silver or grays. It brings out her gorgeous eyes.
Thanks Sligo! Ro xo
I’m doing this to add some lavender to my gray pixie!
Oh! I love that idea!
Dear Piano, that makes me happy - we're in sync!! xoxo Ro
What a wonderful unique (and inexpensive) way to give your wigs 'roots' - I loved watching all of you! Lots of fun!!
Thank you Beverly! Ro xoxo
How fun! Great job, ladies. 🙂

awesome video ladies!! so much FUN!! I 🥰 the root spray best.. it also gave the wig more body! lovely colors!! the gray one was fantastic also.. need to 😷😷up!
thanx for the great ideas! 💯🤳💯🤳💯🥳XO
Thanks JoJo. Personally, I'd go outside to spray before I'd wear a mask - but whatever you each want, just try something new and have fun! xo Ro
I love what you are doing , it looks wonderful 👍❤️
Thank you! www.youtube.com/@GodivasSecretWigs/videos.
You and your girlfriends are fun to watch. This is exactly what I've wanted to attempt but was too chicken to try. Thank you so much!
So, are you going to try it now???? We want to know what worked for you Laura! xo Ro
Blue hair was from a popular hair rinse called Fanci-ful that was bluish in color in order to tame down the yellowing of aged grey hair. My mom used it
Love all this info on Blue hair Marie! Thanks, Rochelle
Great Vlog - Science Lab Experiments 101! I had wondered if possible to permanently Lighten a wig with an extreme drastic dark root. You have given ideas to experiment on older cheaper wigs first, before having try on to a newer rooted wig. Thank you!!
Thanks Laura! Yes, this experiment has opened my eyes to other new possibilites with color and wigs - lets get creative and have more wig fun! xo Ro
Thank you so much for the root demo! I was always curious as to how this was done and really enjoyed watching the various techniques to accomplish such natural looking roots. I look forward to watching all of your Monday videos.
So glad you enjoyed today's video Nancy!! It was fun and exciting to create - I had no idea how things would turn out, but that's fun!!! xoRo
Excellent tutorial, ladies!
Thank you Susan! Ellie and Debbie were wonderful in this artistic WIG adventure! xo Rochelle
Thanks Sylvia, you know me...I'll try about anything with wigs! It's just fun and different! xoxo Ro
This is by far the best video I have ever seen on rooting a wig. Thank you thank you thank you 💕
Wow CJ! Thank you! Just like women new to wigs who research and learn, we spent lots of time and did the best we could. It was fun! xo Ro
I actually rooted my RW Fascination in Biscuit today, it was way too yellow for me, I used l'oreal temporary root color on the roots and also added low lights, now I will wear her.
hey girls. this was fun and interesting to watch. great ideas. stay safe !
Thank Golden! Glad you enjoyed! xoxo Ro
Great video! Had no idea we could do rooted wigs ourselves. Thanks to the three of you. Can’t wait to get some root concealer and try it.
Have fun and try on the bottom back first! xoxo Ro
You three are such fun! As to adding roots to wigs...who knew!
❤
Thanks! I've learned that I have to think about something first before I can find the possibilities...I agree - who knew? Of course, this was new territory - but so is everything for the first time! xo Ro
Everybody looks great!
Most important!!! Thanks Janet! xoxo Rochelle
Thanks for the video! You and these ladies were great. I have used the pink can coverup, but never thought of the eye shadow. They may have the markers at Hobby Lobby. 💓
And Michaels too! Thanks for watching Kathy! Ro xo
What a great video! I'm naturally dark haired, so having rooted wigs helps make it look more natural. Thank you!
Thanks Patty! Ro
Sooo much fun!!!❤❤❤
Thanks Lynn!!! Ro xoxo
What an interesting video! I never thought about putting darker roots into wigs yourself. That was great to watch and and Debbie was very professional. Ellie was a great wig head to practice on. 😂 Love all three of you ladies. I'm loving my new Sheila in Harvest Gold. 😊
Thanks B! Glad you enjoyed and I'm thrilled to hear about your Sheila in HG!!! Wonderful! xoxo Ro
Thanks for doing this ladies! Very helpful. I have a couple of platinum wigs I will try this on. 💜💜💜
Great Razz, have fun and remember to start in the bottom back for testing - just in case! Thanks for watching, Ro xo
Nice job girls!
This was a tough one! Thank you!!! Ro
I’ve been adding roots to my grey and silver wigs. I still have very dark eyebrows and I think adding roots it looks more natural. Loved the video.
Hi Cindy, please share with us what you use to add roots to your wigs! We'd all love to learn more from you! xo Ro
This was fun, I never thought of coloring the roots with a little eye shadow or spray color. Thank you all for trying this out and sharing. Have a great week!

Hi Lisa, interesting Blue facts! Glad you enjoyed and have a great week everyone! xo Ro
You can use fanci full rinse in a mouse it works great also can use it on the whole wig if you want.
What type of colors and results have you had Janie? Thanks for sharing, Rochelle
Thank you, ladies. Was like a Mary Kay hair home party!
If you like a home party, check out more of our older videos where I have about 30 women all together! xo Ro
I've seen others use furniture markers and it seems to work great.
Yes Valerie! I did try those on a different, older wig and it was good too! xo Ro
Thanks ladies! That was some good ole girl time. :) I use the ever pro on my own roots. It's the only kind that doesn't itch my scalp. Hi Holly, Thanks for sharing your experience with colors and sprays... Yes to gloves!! xoox Ro
Very interesting and creative. Little hard to see in spots, shadows etc. Overall loved it
Thanks Mary! Ro
This was so helpful. There’s so many times I’ve wanted one of GSW’s in a rooted gray color…except there aren’t any rooted gray colors offered in ANY wig. So I’m forced to purchase elsewhere. Thank you for this super idea!
Thanks Tbasco, we're working on some new grey shades that may have roots - stay tuned! In the meantime, thanks for watching! Ro
Greetings Rochelle! Fortunately I don't really care for the dark roots, so I have never tried to put in a root. However, I think this is a great resource in case I ever need to! Love and blessings ♥️🙏
Love to you Jean, this was fun to do! xoxo Ro

I loved this! Thank you for sharing! Couple of questions; Was using the 70 % alcohol too harse ? You also mentioned the 3rd choice feeling glumpy. His that improve????
The alcohol didn't appear to hurt the wig at all. I'm not sure about the other question! xoxo Ro
This is great! Ro go to around 33:02 and see what the magnifying glass does to your mouth and teeth! 😁 Great video!
I know Stacey!!!! I laughed so hard out loud and alone!!!! xoxo FUNNY!! xoxo Ro
Thank you so much!!
Glad you enjoyed Mona!! Ro
😅 oh my word
I have been using eye shadow since last year to add roots to my reg hair. Great to read!!! Thanks, Rochelle
blue hairs is from the rinse they used to use to enhance the gray, had a bluish cast to it
Thanks Bobbi, it's fun to read all the stories about blue hair! Ro
This is a helpful video for most people who love rooted wigs. I have to giggle, though, because as a platinum blonde, I seem to spend my LIFE covering my dark roots. LOL
That's funny! I'd rather have dark roots than my grey ones! Ro
@@GodivasSecretWigs I don’t like either dark or gray roots. I have a little of both.
I used copic markers on one of my wigs to add some low lights and extra dimensions of colors. It ran when my wig got wet and it bled on my clothes even when the weather was dry.
Yikes! Thanks for that -
I found that there are 2 types of copic markers. One is Copic Sketch - and those bled - the Copic markers did not bleed.
I would never know that Meg was a wig...looks so natural and cute
Yes! Meg is a winner wig and Debbie wears it so well! Thanks, Rochelle xo
Photobombed by hubby! 😄 He's cute too!
Thanks! Gotta say that now we're very best friends and I'm a single girl now... Missed my family in CA xo Ro
Quick question! I thought alcohol could be damaging to synthetic wigs. Are the Copic markers safe for this? Did you notice any issues?
I did not notice anything different to the fibers. I did wash them to see if the roots would stay or not, so I can't guarantee over time that anything would change or not. I suggest to try an old wig - I would play with the eye shadow and hair spray over it myself! xo Ro
Is it the brow kit that you used?
Nope, but that would work...I didn't want to mess my brow kit up!! oxox Eye shadows worked pretty good I thought! Ro
Oh how I wish I could come to you guys. Because I'm very interested in buying a wig or two but uncertain how it will look on me
I BOUGHT a top piece from you guys but I think the wig might be better
I DO need help
Hi Chandra, here's a link to see if we have a GS Wig Consultant near you:
info.godivassecretwigs.com/find-a-consultant.
Just scroll down to your state. Hope this helps! Ro
Hi do you have any wigs for men like very short cut almost looks like real some curls some curly some waves some straight hair type
Hi Francis - glad you asked! We have 3 men's wigs that would work with women too. They are amazing, light, airy and natural looking. Here's the link to see them:
godivassecretwigs.com/collections/mens.
Thanks, Ro
What if you use a brush from mascara
Yes, that will work too. I have to pull and clip the hair very tight so the mascara wand doesn't get tangled in loose hair. Try it on the back bottom of a wig and see how it goes - or your own hair! xo Ro
If you use eyeshadows you need to put hairspray after so it will stay a while.
I just use dark touch up spray. It's quick and easy and it stays.
Yes, exactly Victorious!! Thanks for mentioning this! xo Ro
Would a mask help those sensitive to strong scents? Coptic markers have a permanent marker scent. Add that with the alcohol scent and it may be bothersome for some people.
Yes, it made a great difference to take the wig outside when the dye scents are strong - thanks! Ro
Thanks for sharing your grandmother's experience with Blue Hair!!! Love it, Ro xo
those always come off on your hands, i prefer the brush on powder but it get on hands if you touch so i would just tap if had an itch lol plus they wash out

When I was a youngster, my grandma used to take me to her hair salon where they applied a blueing to her white hair so it wasn't yellow. In the beginning, it was quite blue and eventually faded until one did it again. God only knows what it was in it.
Right Susan! What the heck was in that blue stuff? xo Ro
You ladies need pink lab coats when performing scientific experiments.😀 Great video!
Exactly, you know me Ava! I couldn't find pink lab coats in time!!! I look for absolutely every prop I can in pink! Thanks, Ro xo
Way back older women with gray hair would get a colored wash or coloring of some kind on their hair and it looked blue.
Thanks Barbara, we're reading lots of stories from other viewers too about Blue hair! Fun! Ro xo
This video has me laughing out loud. I'm trying a different thing with my dark wigs These days the contrast just too harsh for me. SO??? Well, you know how much I love the silvers, so I'm putting silver strands in my dark wigs! I KNOW you want to know what my most successful technique is, AAAANNNDD (drum roll)
DecoColor Premium Oil Based Opaque Metallic Paint Markers!
In my own spare time (none right now) I will look into that...xoxoxo
Love what you shared that worked for you, excellent!!! Ro xo
The tile should have been Women With Gloves!
Thanks but not sure if that would attract wig wearers! Love it though...xoxo Ro
I don't like roots and can't wait till this fad passes
And, Michelle, remember that we have so many beautiful wigs with no roots!!! Just saying! xo Rochelle
