Good friend of the show Stephen Amell (Arrow, Heels) joins us this week to drop some bombs once again.
We not only discuss his brand new show Heels and how he feels about his legacy of being the Arrow, but Stephen also takes time to set the record straight about some recent tabloid stories that have come out about him.
We get into Stephen’s current experience with panic attacks and stress, how he handles nerves heading into new projects, and how different this show is with relation to Stephen’s partnership with its direction.

I love how open Stephen is and doesn’t hold back. Gives you the good, bad, and ugly
Stephen looks very well rested and less stressed now. Looks like he caught up on that year of lost sleep filming Arrow.
he also had a strict diet i think. so for 8 years, having a physique like this and extreme dieting is tiring

I'm only 5 mins in, and Stephen's discussing his getting kicked off an airplane. The day after reading about that I was like "I wonder if he's going to go straight to Inside of You to talk to Michael about it"
Also, gotta say, Stephen's run on American Ninja was one of the coolest things I've seen him do, and it blew my mind. Proving he's the real deal!
Michael Rosenbaum is such a great interviewer! Always knocks it out of the park! The reason why people open up so easily to him is because he seems so easy to talk to. This is real talk if I've ever seen it! Regarding Stephen: A) Glad he opened up about what happened on the plane. Did not expect anything less from him. He's only human. Everybody has a bad day, celebrities too. B) Regarding Heels: If ever there was perfect casting...this was it! Must be the role of a lifetime for him and he is good at it. I am from South Africa and the Duffy Dome reminds me so much of a small wrestling arena just like it my parents took us to as kids. Nailed it! C) Regarding Arrow: Really refreshing to hear that he does not mind being asked about it even after moving on from the show. He is appreciative of what and where it brought him. He loves the role so much that he would be willing to revisit it and knows that his Arrow fans are going to continue to follow his career. Not just because he is Stephen but because they became fans of Arrow first.
Stephen was great in Arrow. But like most of the actors/actresses in CW/DC shows....victim of major bad writing (post season 3).
@@barone8889 Agreed. Think the writers made a mistake bringing "magic" into Arrow and probably wrote more what the fans wanted as apposed to what would have kept it original. I liked all of the seasons, just liked the 1st 3 best and then season 7 I think was ok too. It's kind of like watching Rocky and Creed but you skip Rocky 5. I would still watch it because it's part of the series. Though, if he does return, I kind of want to see him as The Spectre instead. That would be a nice twist or at least change. The moment Arrow ended, it kind of felt like the other shows suffered without it. I feel that with this show, he gets to show more of his acting chops. Also, if they are ever going to reboot Die Hard...he should totally do it!
Every single interview he's done it has been utterly awesome. Love listening to him talking.
Heels is such a good show and it's just entertaining and raw. Every character matters and you see challenges they go through in each episode and everyone is striving for the same thing wanting to be a champion, get the recognition. This show is in Stephen's wheel house and you can tell this is his passion project. In Heels you get to see the behind the scenes very similar to Wrestling with Shadows with Bret Hart that was released 20 something years ago which is integral to the overall storyline. There is one scene I so loved in the first episode was when Jack Spade in his car waiting for the traffic signal to change colors and turns his head with a serious look and the 2 kids that see him run away, then smiles and drives away was so good. He is protecting the business, staying in character.

Love the double entendre nature of the title. Hope it manages to catch a following or they somehow take a chance om a second season. So good. But its not doing well ratings wise. Pretty badly actually. I dont think many understand the show from ads. I know its much deeper and more involved than I was expecting... and I was looking forward to it. And many I think would dig it... even if they have zero interest in pro wrestling.
I passively watch a lot of series as I work. Like way more than I should lol. Heels is a top 10 easily.
I really like the show also unfortunately it’s probably not gonna get a second season because no one is watching it at all which sucks cause it’s awesome

About Heels, Stephen rocks on the show! A heavy show sometimes, just real life people dealing with issues. Brave of them addressing on suicide theme. The wrestling behind the scenes is a new colorful interesting world for me. Playing Oliver Queen on a 8-10 episodes would be fantastic! Also wish Heels to have at least 5 more seasons, please, the show is awesome! Thank you, guys!

I love all of your episodes but my favorites are always the ones with Stephen Amell. Two of my favorite actors and people getting together and always talking about the realest shit. Another amazing episode! Always looking forward to the next episode and can't wait to see him return to the podcast.
Stephen is the man. I was super sad when he decided to end Arrow but I'm happy for him that he's doing what he wants cause I know how much of a fan of wrestling he is so he's probably so excited to be on Heels.

Great opening. Needed to be said and recognized. Intro song always gets me ready for the podcast. It is “sang” or “sung” throughout my day. It is your thang.
I have enjoyed this episode so much. Stephen definitely had so many great stories. It was definitely interesting to hear how he got started in acting.
Heels has been amazing so far. I've never been into wrestling but this show has a way of giving you a bit of exposure/appreciation for it while enjoying the story, writing, and acting independent of the wrestling side. Still waiting for arrow to come back though.

Takes a big person to admit your faults, especially on the world stage. Really enjoy his stories and behind the scenes insight. Much respect and totally relate to the mental health challenges - been there, not fun, lessons learned.

I only found this channel recently, I loved Rosenbaum's Lex when I was younger so I know him mostly from that, but these interviews are really good and down to earth. Makes you really realize that celebrities can be real people too, they're not all super rich and out of touch. Honestly I don't tend to pay attention to anything celebrity related but these really are interesting. Also, as someone with severe anxiety, I can super relate to Michael's experiences.
Stephen looks so much more relaxed and rested. Hope he continues to take care of himself! Also so glad that he opened up about the plane incident. Everyone has a bad day and it's just unfortunate that the media needs to report on every single mistake celebrities make because they are human too! I would love to see an interview with Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood!

He's got that fresh look back in his face that he had in the first season of Arrow. His skin started to look puffy in the later seasons of Arrow. Probably de-stressed now, looks great

Recently started watching your podcast and I love it! Love hearing personal stories from your guests and learning the ins and outs of getting into acting. I started doing background a few years ago I love being on set and acting in general, shout out to Stephen for acknowledging the extras on Heels. Your impressions are amazing and it's not said enough!
He looks so much happier and less stressed and he looks rested.when amell is on the show it's honestly some of the best episodes. He's so open and genuine and doesn't hold anything back. It's so refreshing. He seems like such a down to earth guy who knows full well he has many flaws and doesn't seem driven by ego. He and Michael seem to just really get eachother. It's nice to see.
We're not even five minutes in and he's already poured a ton of sugar on that plane situation lol... I'd be really interested to hear that story from Aisha Tyler and what really lead to her unfriend him... I'm sure it's not THAT simple.

I unfollowed him when he said in his own podcast that him getting the Oliver Queen role had nothing to do w his skin color and he got it because he worked hard for it. But if he would be black it would not have mattered how hard he worked for it, he would not have been cast. Very dismissing of what privilege means.

Stephen is wild. I don't know why but I thought he was like his character from Arrow
PORTUGUESE: Stephen diz que se envergonha do que aconteceu quando teve de sair do avião em Dallas e assume toda a responsabilidade por isso. Ele tinha bebido demais e estava zangado com algo do que não se lembra. Ele diz que a única coisa que Cass disse foi "se você não falar mais baixo vão tirar você do avião." Ele não resistiu quando pediram a ele pra sair do avião e ficou sóbrio pro próximo vôo pra casa. Ele e Cass ainda estão fazendo as pazes sobre o ocorrido e a mãe dele ficou preocupada na época.
Stephen estudou numa escola de meninos, mas dava pra conhecer um monte de meninas. Lá ele pegou o gosto pela atuação. Stephen fica nervoso antes de alguma coisa nova começar (inclusive a oitava temporada de Arrow), mas ele se prepara bem e depois se tranquiliza. Ele acha que o ataque de pânico que aconteceu no podcast do final de 2019 foi devido a não estar ainda preparado para a mudança após Arrow.
Quanto a Heels, Stephen está super envolvido nas cenas de luta. Como ele esteve nos bastidores de vários wrestlings, ele sabe como as coisas funcionam num nível mais amplo e, por isso quando tinham alguma dúvida sobre o processo em Heels, muitas vezes ele era comsiultado. Ele se sente mais parceiro em Heels do que em Arrow, porque o papel lhe foi oferecido (por isso a série recebeu sinal verde).
Perguntado, ele gostaria de ser um produtor e admira muito os produtores de Heels, que, discretamente, mantêm tudo fluindo harmoniosamente na série.
Ele ama as cenas de luta em Heels e a sua música quando Jack entra na arena. Ele se machucou quando fez o "coast to coast" logo na primeira cena e teve de ir pro hospital. Tomou um monte de milk shakes de bauniha, junto com um monte de drogas pra dor.
Stephen admira muito James Harrison, não só como atleta, mas como um ótimo ator. Diz que eles treinavam logo cedo a pedido de James porque era a melhor hora "pro homem".
Coisas que ele mais ama em Heels: as palavras, as músicas, os créditos de abertura (à moda tradicional) e a música-tema da série.
Stephen queria criar uma lembrança mútua entre ele e Alison Luff. Por isso, quando ela ganhou o papel, ele pediu a Mike O´Milley que o deixasse dar a notícia. Ela ficou tão feliz que gritou de alegria no telefone. Stephen também gosta do sotaque que lhe deram.
Ele gostaria de voltar a lutar num ringue... trabalhar com Phil Brooks (CMPunk) no episódio 3 de Heels foi ótimo, Phil é também um excelente ator. Atualmente Stephen está descansado, tranquilo, não sente mais ansiedade.
Sim, ele gostaria de interpretar Oliver Queen novamente, talvez numa série de 8 a 10 episódios, porque ele ama Oliver Queen. Ainda não lhe ofereceram nada nesse sentido.
Stephen fala sobre o treinamento pesado em Heels, comenta que as "cordas" são, na verdade, cabos de aço recobertos.
Sobre Mavi, ele conta que ela está linda, inteligente e muito independente, provavelmente por causa da pandemia: ela não tem tido contato com outras crianças e tem de estudar online. Ela está linda como Cass e, como a mãe, também não gosta de abraços.

@@dfunkt2291 how do you know it’s regularly? Stephen even said that he wasn’t even upset with his wife and that she wasn’t arguing back, he was just angry for no reason when he got drunk. All relationships has ups and downs. Celebrities are also humans who screws up from time to time. It’s their life and their mess to fix. I’m just supporting my idols
@@Bloodyheroesandlegends Personally, I think his wife might have been somewhat surprised by his behaviour if this was anomalous. He described her behaviour in a way that indicates she's used to it. I've both professional and personal experience with psych, counselling, and DV. It honestly raises red flags and alarm bells for me. I'm not assuming how far or how serious it is, but it's certainly not great.
If he make changes to stop this happening again in public or private, good for him.
I just don't think he deserves all this over the top praise for admitting something he couldn't deny and yeah that's about it.
@@dfunkt2291 I’m not blatantly defending him, because he’s still just an actor I only know what he says and does, but I think his wife would’ve spoken up if he was a horrible or abusive husband. In today’s climate less women are afraid to speak up. He might be an idiot when he’s been drinking but until I know the facts I can’t say anything other than it’s their life, not mine. I love him as an actor and from what I can tell he’s not a bad person.
