I was in Cranhill during the 70's as a small child. I was taken to Easterhouse often to the pool and to the shopping centre. It was a very rough area but there was some good people in it. I was back there in 2019 and was at the new library and saw that the pool had been converted a little. The shopping centre was exactly how I remembered it in the 70's although with less shops open. Nice to see that some of the area has been redeveloped.
Thanks for sharing..! I moved out in 1976 to Kilwinning, had loads of family In easterhouse at one time . Brought back loads of memories of when I used to go back up . Thanks again big chap …! 👍
Went easterhouse once when celtic won the league in 1988 was taken to the casbah for a night out with friends who came from the area but lived in hull had a great night
Enjoyed that my friend. I was brought up in Easterhouse in the 60s/ 70s. I agree that there were hard times then but as you say lots of good people. Puts me in the mood for a wee run there myself. Unfotunately my old street no longer exists the old closes seem to have bitten the dust! Thank you. A wee subscribe and a like well earned. Cheers
Thakyou for posting , lived in the tenement that was in front of the bus terminal ( 136 Lockdochart ) as a kid before moving to England . Seeing this has brought a lot of good memories back , nice one
I lived on Lochdochart Rd in the 1980s (that's my block on the right at 14:49 or straight in front of you at 17:01). Big changes since then. It was all tenement closes then. No shops, so we had to go out to Billy's van on Dalilea Drive.
I seen this by chance, lots of memories Lochend Road, where I grew up, walking up to St Clare’s primary with the worst hailstorm weather, Wearing a skirt and socks I should add 😅 ohh my legs got a beating 😊 St Leonard’s Sec School, lol cheers for the memories ❤
I used to live in Easterhouse in 60/70s and i moved to Manchester in 1974 it shows how different it looks now , still nothing there it has not changed in terms of things to do, empty fields , my late mother said she had really good neighbours when we lived there
U never mentioned a P Ferris, the Welsh clan when driving out of Blackhill, then driving down Provanmill Rd, no mention of Thompson etc,….Well done for not ‘clout chasing’ ✌️
thats how i remember it growing up unfortunately think half the mattes i grew up with were trying smack by age 12 ... rest of us on the eckys speed hash n booze wild days man.
The church on the Edinburgh Road is where I was christened. I also went to Sunday School there for a while. In the late 70s I used to have to sign on at the brew up in Easterhouse. I saw the shopping centre being built. I sometimes went to the swimming baths and occasionally went into the community centre. I painted the Festy mural for the Easterhouse festival one year. There’s a bit of an amusing but embarrassing tale about that. 😄😳
I'm from London and it doesn't look anywhere near as bad or scary as the tower blocks and massive concrete estates you see in London. Thanks for the video. London is a 3rd world shi#hole now anyway. Cheers.
@@ROUTEPLANNERPAUL I don't know Glasgow but all the glaswegians I've met have been down to earth. Not like so many snotty nosed middle class soft southerners. Cheers.
