Finally a video that just show how to target shoot with one hand, without the paranoid talks about shooting while injured or shooting at someone who shoot back.
Most modern .22's have a built in "stop" that only allows the firing pin to protrude just far enough to ignite the primer. However, some older .22's won't have that feature, and the firing pin will literally slam into the chamber face, which isn't good. If you're not sure... Place a small piece of masking tape across the face of the chamber, and see if it leaves a mark, when you dry fire. I actually had to file some material off of the "stop" on my 10/22. It wasn't allowing the firing pin to protrude far enough to get reliable ignition, and I was having light strike issues.
Thank you. I have been searching for just this type of instruction. I can’t wait to get to the range tomorrow and start working on these ( and doing the dry fire you recommend, although with a bushmark it’s a little annoying as it’s one of the few that will hit the breach face if you don’t have a snapcap)
Great video and tips for competitive shooting. Everyone should see these fundamental tips before they even shot their first shot, so they now what the fundamentals is. If you start training the wrong way, you will only train yourself worse. These tips are gold.
Yet another excellent NSSF video! I hope Doug Koenig will be doing a whole series, like Ryan Cleckner's Rifle series. Possible topics - breathing - grip - strength exercises - eyesight/glasses - pistol preparation and cleaning - choice of ammunition/reloading - introduction to the disciplines he's competing in ... World class introduction and solid advice from a world class shooter ... All kudos and credit to the NSSF for this excellent initiative. Best regards, Rob
I wish all instructions were this easy to understand and relate to, great work, thanks! Most importantly aside from squeezing the trigger is breathing (or rather teqniques for holding your breath) during a shot, but maybe you cover this in another film.
i wish i could talk to a founder of one of these foundations so i could better understand the template one would use to get something like that off the ground and up and running.
0:58 I hate to say it, but that's a terribly unclear diagram for what it's trying to portray. I know it's 10 years too late at this point. Otherwise, decent info!
how would one go about developing another shooting sports foundation? i think right now one of the best to combat the anti gun people is to develop as many foundations and clubs or circuits as we possibly can. all these anti gun people keep picking out firearms designes and claim they have no sporting purpose. forgetting the fact that 2nd amendment is there so we wouldt have to live under tyranny. i think more foundations and more education will combat that greatly.
Actually some of his points are not good for one handed precision pistol shooting. Especially his stance. Standing at 45 degrees angle is generally bad for this type of shooting. Olympic pistol shooters are the best at this do they stand at 45 degree like what he say?
I take squirrels at 40+ yards with my target pistol on a regular basis. Shooting 4 inch steel targets at 8 yards is a waste of time and $. Most these guys cant hit a pie plate at 50 yards if you gave them 5 shots, the competitions are fucking hilarious to watch.

Old school.
I agree totally.
Weighted and small caliber arm... Precision shooting for competition is not comparable to self-defense or combat applications 💯
“Paranoid”
Judging by the look of most gun guys on TH-cam, cholesterol is the real danger.

Thanks man, at this point I'm better with my slingshot than my revolver... I'm working on it and this helps a lot. Cheers from Normandy.

I use a 3lb hammer held at the end of the handle to help develop my hand control/steadiness
I use a tomahawk🤣

What kind of scope are you using?
Outstanding tutorial! Thanks for making this available!
Thank you!! Minus the sales and ego of most videos!!!
Great video. Do you exercise the muscles with weights or just dry fire the gun. How many seconds per rep and how many reps?
what kind of gun is that ? I new to one handed shooting joined team try to figure it out. Thanks for the tips
Thanks... helpful.
Nice
easy style of video.
Thanks
At last I know now why it is difficult to dry-fire with some rimfire weapons.
Good vid!
Thank you.
Can you explain why you are using three rings to mount your UltraDot?
JohnnyQuid71 For added stability so it doesn't lose its zero.

helpful video - what are you shooting?
If your asking what gun, its a model 41 S@W since he is sponsored by them. Oh I shot the Masters when he won in 92.
What gun is that look like model 41 but stainless and bad ass barrel
Watched them all! Very informative! Thank you Doug!!
Shooting and precision hitting. Bullseye hitting.
Good points, thanks!!
Is that a heavily modified model 41?
Was that a highly modified S&W Model 41 ?? What does it whey with the mods?? 41oz??
Looks like a Clark customized Model 41 with chrome plating.
The options and prices are listed on Clark's Custom Guns website.
What do you think about Molly coated lead pistol bullets? This is without the wax treatment. Just tumbled.
Never realized how important foot placement is
when dry firing, call you shot.take a target an put your calls on it,exp 3'oclock mark it on paper?
Thank you for the where to shoot where to shoot.
No recoil, Which gun is this?
How could you not shoot like a pro with that shirt?
I love your 41
It kind of looks like it used to be a Model 41.
That’s the most fudest intro I’ve seen in a while🤣

👍
I thought gun recoil was much bigger then thjs
thanks I new to sport need tips so don t shakeso much
What about your breathing? In order to get a good stance you need right amount of air in your lungs.

TH-cam hasn't pulled this yet.
Why isn’t your gun loud
In california they would kick you off the range for shooting this fast lol. You forgot to write a letter to congress between every shot.

The best stance, is the stance that suits the individual the best, regardless of the angle.
