I understand your concern. I'm just like you. I'm bl fans since 2016 but not many series that i actually enjoyed. Jojo tho, i always enjoy his works so i'm excited for this. Especially the casts are my two favorite couples in gmmtv But Jojo already said several times that this is a comedy show, there is gonna be humour, dancing, alot of nc i believe. Sometimes it can be cringe but as long as it has good plot i have no problem enduring a little bit cringe here and there 😅 Well people has different taste so i can't really tell if you gonna enjoy it or not but after following this series journey since the beginning, i think i'll love this series
yaaay! i was hoping you would react to this! edit: this is a comedy they have said and i also dislike Thailand's version of comedy but i will always watch a FirstKhao series. no matter the concept. those two have the best chemistry and acting abilities! they alone can save a series for me. :) also, i love the concept of this show! i hadn't read the synopsis until today and now that i get a fuller picture of the series, i think anything that will be tacky/cringey will be outweighed by the storyline and FirstKhaotung. haha

Also from what joong said it's not just comedy, he was talking about heavy scenes at the same time it's cutesy too according to them. Jojo's humor is different than usual gmm shows so i guess it would work
i just finished the first episode and the comedy was very subtle in this first ep. i loved the episode a lot! the chemistry between the couples is fantastic already. :) i think this will be a good one! just in case you were wondering. haha

It’s basically a retelling of „Taming of the shrew“ and the director said it will be a total Comedy - so despite you all got hot and wet from the trailer.. be prepared - I think it has all the comedy Ember does not like.
This was such an exciting notification to get aaaa !! This trailer had me very literally bouncing off the walls it was SO much crazier than I even expected somehow😭 P'jojo is so crazy I shouldn't have underestimated him truly🙏🏻 also (not a spoiler) jojo has been trying to set everyone's expectations by making sure we know that it's a romcom first and foremost! So like I know what it looks like but we shouldn't have to worry tooooo much about angst and things! So yes it's absolutely mature with mature themes but also romcom, because it's jojo I'm gonna assume it'll be fairly similar to only friends sound effects and humour wise! If it IS only friends level I hope we can tell you when it comes out and you'll react to it because I miss you & watching your reactions a lot 🫶🏼 (I understand the burnout tho, no pressure ofc!) Also totally get the dislike of the classic gmm tropes and "isms" of the genre within their company but I hope if you do watch THK it can maybe break you out of the rut with it a bit because I think they are and have been releasing some really great stuff, but to each their own of course 🙏🏻
Lol i think I totally get you in terms of "they try to make it cute and light-hearted but it ends up being cringy", that's what I usually feel from Domundi shows and some GMM shows as well... but I still give them a chance even if for a few episodes, especially if there are my favorite actors involved. I can forgive lots of things for good acting and good directing/script, and with Jojo and his team, and FirstKhao I have high hopes for this one. I love Jojo's style, I think this one is supposed to be smth in line with Only friends, but probably a bit darker and spicier (uncut version on iQiyi reminds me of KinnPorsche xD) I also remember actors declining events and other works to focus more on preparing for this show, so I expect smth really good. But I can't say for sure of course since for each their own.

Re. your concerns: I totally understand how you feel about the sort of humour we most often see in these shows (especially recently it seems), and it doesn't work for me either. But if it helps, I've watched another Jojo show which I think is prob his most outright comedic (The Warp Effect), and I was pleasantly surprised by how much it cracked me up despite me being not at all the target audience (angsty asexual watches a sex comedy). Interestingly, that trailer played UP the silliness, so I bet you would've been put right off, but then the show turned out to be not only thoroughly entertaining, but also really thoughtful, well-written/plotted, very feminist, and dealt with a lot of serious topics including reproductive rights, consent, body-shaming, harassment, etc. And, from what I remember at least, the humour in the most part wasn't derived from pratfalls or silly sounds or any of the usual tropes. I get the impression THK will fall somewhere between OF and that show - it won't be as heavy as OF and it won't be as exaggerated as TWE. And I think/hope that in THK, the humour will be more situational/plot/chaos-based, e.g. I'm expecting shenanigans from FK trying to hook up whilst avoiding big bro, and from Dunk relentlessly popping up wherever Joong happens to be at any given moment. I guess I think it will be more FUN than funny, if that makes sense?? This is what Jojo said bout it after the trailer was released: "this series, just like the title suggests, is a story of people flirting, pursuing each other, falling in love with and showing a lot physical affection. it’s a bit steamy but will definitely bring smiles" (trans. credit FkloveFluff on X) - smiles, not laughs! So yes: fun, not funny! I'm staking everything on that! Anyway, I respect your decision, whatever it ultimately may be, and don't wish to put any pressure on you, but equally want you to know that yours are some of the series reactions I look forward to the most, and have rewatched, because a) you nail the balance between reaction and commentary, and b) the commentary is always so thoughtful and considerate, especially of the more complicated, nuanced characters whom are sometimes misunderstood. Well I get you totally BUT this is from JoJo. He never disappoints! Friend Zone and Only Friends is far from cringy and does not have dumb sound effects. So I’m highly hopeful? I’m definitely going to watch the first episode because can’t hurt right? Plus if I hear dumb sound effects or see another “GMMTV” cues then no skin off my nose!
A lot of NC scenes.... question is, it is to balance a lack of script or acting ( not from Fk obviously). Always have my doubts about trailer hyping people mainly with NC scenes. We know it s gonna have views, just hope for quality too.
I did also watch other genres of Thai BLs, even ones that really pushed my boundaries in terms of anxiety, like KinnPorsche. Only Friends and Ghost Host Ghost House were also different genre, and Never Let Me Go was hardly fluffy. I just don't want to watch characters cry in heavy-angst series, but it doesn't mean I'll only watch fluffy series lol. Besides, it's not really a 'fluffy series' problem - there's fluffy series I adore that don't use those cheesy cliche tropes 😄

Basically I’m really picky 😂 a lot of series start great for me too, but resort to the same conflict in the last few episodes that ruin it for me. Basically I’m burned out because I’m just not finding shows I enjoy! I only get to record on weekends too as a I work full time so it was frustrating spending most of my free time watching a series just for it to disappoint me, it kept feeling like I was wasting my weekends lol.
