Aww this takes me back! When I was a little girl, my Grandad made my Mum and Grandma promise him that they would take me to DisneyLand Paris and stay in the pink hotel with some money that he left for them in his will. They waited a couple of years since I was so young when he passed, plus they knew I wouldn’t have been able to remember it well or take it all in as a 5 year old. I was 7/8 years old when we went and honestly it sounds so cliché but it was such a magical experience. The staff were amazing, treat us like royalty even though we didn’t stay in one of the insanely boujee suites, I think a few of them knew the circumstances why we were there so they went out of their way to make it such a lovely holiday for us. On our first night, we were sat down for dinner in the restaurant beside a window which had a view of the castle. Mid-dessert, the castle lit up and they had a fireworks display, we probably had the best view of it. My mum asked a member of staff if the lights and fireworks were a regular thing, like did it happen every night? Not sure what happens now, but apparently it was a one off during our stay as it was “just a trial run/test” for a later event. I remember I told my Mum and Grandma that “Granda did the fireworks for us” 🥹💖 Also we found out there was a VIP staying with her kids in the hotel, because one day the spa and pool was off limits for a private visit…turned out it was Madonna! Likelihood is that the “fireworks test” was actually a show for her kids. Such an amazing, unforgettable holiday 💖💖💖
