"I'm going to stop there while I still have a fly."---I tell myself that often when trimming deer hair. Lovely pattern, Mr McPhail. I have tied for 44 years and have mastered many patterns, but you seem to have an endless gift for tying anything you put on a vise. Have a great day. 😎
Hi Davy, I don't know how many videos you have produced, it must be hundreds. The importance of this mine of information cannot be underestimated. If God forbid TH-cam dissappeared then so does all your hard work I am sure many 100s if not 1000s take a daily look at your work . I appreciate a book would be a mammoth undertaking but a plan B needs to in place. You have done so much in my opinion to further this wonderful and addictive hobby it would be so sad lose this legacy to fly fishing
Hi Davie..great tying as usual...I have lots of Loch flies to which I have added a muddler head in white , black and natural....Soldier Palmer , Bibio , Zulu , Kate McClaren etc...they all work on their day in different waves 👍
what an awesome fly !! the muddler technique was priceless.. there is always a great piece of information in your video's that takes it all to the next level everytime .. thank you .. < j
quick question about head cement. How do you keep it thin? it seems to thicken up over time and become quite difficult to put on without gumming up the whole fly. I've been using Sally Hansens Hard as Nails, as it is a couple bucks for a bottle, and regular head cement is around 9 dollars a bottle. Thank you Sir!
Hi Half Insane Outdoor Guy, I use Veniards varnish and they sell the thinners with it which keeps it the way I like and it will keep for a very long time saving you money in the long run..If you are using the nail varnish then you could use a nail varnish remover to thin it down though some can cause the varnish to go cloudy.. All the very best Davie..
Perfect for me to tie as it’s black and white mainly ,I wonder how many tyres have colour impairment ? Thank goodness for sharpies though everything I use gets marked up in boxes and bags But your videos help immensely the way you take time to explain in detail as you build each of your creations We can’t thank you enough and at long last my granddaughter showed me how to get into your homepage so that I can do a PayPal donation Thanks again Davie
I am partially colorblind. (Dichromatic) I do not see reds and greens properly. I can wear special glasses that help me see colors but they tend to give me a headache so I don't wear them often. That said I just keep everything labeled well, but do occasionally end up with a green fly when I wanted to make a grey one, or red or pink fly when I wanted a yellow one.

Excellent tie. You sir, are the Bob Ross of fly tying.
Another great fly! I really appreciate that you add a written explanation about how to use the fly. Thanks.
Another beautiful tie Davey. You really make tying look easy! True mastery and a benchmark of talent at the vise as always. Many thanks and blessings.
I really enjoyed the story behind the origins of the fly. Thank you.
