  • Unfortunately the corruption is still part of these companies and once again.
Actually the 'misleading ads' about reliabiliy is just 'misleading ads'. There were even bribes (and they are) to hide defects of Toyota (can't understand how people can play with human life).

Couple: Our Toyota Is A 'Death Trap'
Kneipps' Toyota Tundra Not On Recall List
PHOENIX -- A Prescott, Ariz., couple is planning to testify before Congress about their "terrifying" experience with their Toyota truck -- and it's one that's not on the recall list.
More than two years ago, when the Kneipps first bought their Toyota Tundra, they noticed a problem with their cruise control -- their car would over-accelerate while cruise control was on.
But back in October, their problems escalated.
Jerry Kneipp said, "It was just something you wouldn't expect."
In October, the Kneipps were out four-wheeling in a remote area near their Prescott home when their truck suddenly accelerated and pushed them to the edge.
"I was in drive with my foot applied to the brake pedal and all of a sudden out of nowhere the thing just lunged," Jerry Kneipp said.
In front of their truck was a four-wheeler with their niece and nephew, Logan Franks, inside.
"The engine went to max RPMs," Franks said.
He said he didn't see the truck coming at him until it was nearly too late.
"They made contact; they went more or less under us and more or less picked up the back of this Polaris and pushed us," Franks said.
Franks and his wife were shoved within feet of a nearby ditch.
"My wife and I would probably be dead. I don't know about them," Franks said.
Jerry Kneipp said he did everything he could to stop the truck from pushing them that far.
"I threw the shifting levers as far up as I could to put it into park, and I immediately shut the engine down," Kneipp said.
    The Kneipps aren't alone.
Sean Kane with Safety Research and Strategies said his company is seeing more consumers coming forward with issues about their cars.
"It's reached obviously a crisis and affects millions of their cars, and we've got to do something," Kane said.
Kane said the majority of the complaints that come into his office are from people who own Toyotas, and it's not just the cars listed on the recall list.
"There's no singular answer to this problem," Kane said. "It's not just a singular vehicle problem -- it's across many years, makes and models."
It's not a problem with gas pedals and floor mats, either; it's much more complex, he said.
"You cannot believe this company doesn't know more about this problem," Kane said. "How is it that thousands of consumers are reporting the same kinds of issue, and yet they've been discounted."
And being discounted is exactly what the Kneipps believe is happening to them.
When their local Toyota dealership couldn't find anything wrong with their car, a factory representative from Toyota inspected it. A few weeks later, the Kneipps got a letter from Toyota saying what happened to them was "unfortunate" and that they found "no evidence" of any problems with their car or that particular model.
The Kneipps disagree with those findings.
"We want our truck fixed and we don't want to drive it anymore; it's a death trap," Shirley Kneipp said.
Kane and his research group echoed the sentiment.
"Clearly there's an electronic issue with this vehicle," Kane said. "Toyota has really pushed this poor family to the limits, and they're doing nothing for them."
Right now, the Kneipps' truck sits parked in the driveway of their home.
"It was terrifying, terrifying, and I don't, I won't drive the truck," said Shirley Kneipp.
Nevertheless, she said Toyota should admit responsibility for their Tundra's issues.
"They need to take over our truck and take it back," she said.
