Black berry was one of my all time favourite phone. I rock about 4 different ones for over 8 years. And if they didn't fall out the market I would have still stick with them. May be will consider one if it comes back like before.
Another security question I have is protection from advertisement tracking. Android by default collects everything about you and sells it to advertisers. Having security against that is very important imo.

I have always had BBs except for a NEC Terrain before the first android BB came out. My PrRIV died due to battery failure. My current Key2 is not quite two years old and the battery died in it twice in that many years. Last year it was still under warranty and I had to send it Miami to have a new battery installed. It took three weeks to get it back, and last week the new battery failed again. This time UbreakIfix oredered and instelled a new battery, but now it doesn't recognize the SIM card that used to be in it. T-mobile can't help with the issue, nobody can. It would be good to have a date that says when we can actually see the finished product. A physical keyboard is the biggest reason I want a blackberry. Wish someone would make that as well.
Maybe another form of demonstration they can do is reassure existing Blackberry 10 users that their systems will be useful beyond January 2022 period and same for those in Blackberry Android? Just a thought
I don’t think they will be doing that since they have already said BB10 EOL is January 2022. Plus it doesn’t do much good anyway because T-Mobile and ATT are shutting down 2g/3G so the phones won’t work anymore.

Hoping they do well next time, but after getting burned on the Priv, Key 2 LE and so on like you said was enough for me.
I keep saying time after time, Blackberry is not a mobile device maker anymore... TCL licensed and paid BB money per phone to use their name... Onward is no different. BB is busy (very busy) in other investments... phones isn't one of them, but for$50-$100 per device payment just for using the name that's why they license the phone.... and now it's no more secure than a new Samsung, that's pretty much up to Onward and what software they are purchasing from BB.
We need Blackberry OS 10 back…. too many android OS. We need something that will differentiate blackberry from Android OS and iOS and that Blackberry 10 OS
As much as I have been holding out for the new phone, the points you bring up and the lack of any updates or teasers doesn't make me very optimistic. Onward Mobility should be thanking you as you are the only thing keeping this idea of new phone alive.
Love your channel and watch everything you put up re Blackberry as people here in Australia still look at me weirdly when I pull out my BB phone. lol. Do you know if the NEW BB will be released or marketed here in Australia?? Keep up your great work Adam. Cheers Scott
Canadian government can mandate all phones for government offices and services to be BB phones. Do we think the country that makes the most phones doesn't have these kind of mandates in place?
Being honest, I don't think they will be able to deliver. It really hasn't happened since the BlackBerry Classic. Ever since it's been either build quality or support or both that has suffered.
I wish they would give us a little teaser of what is coming I have a Motion and A70 I’d love a blackberry for my next Android device. But there are also a lot of compelling offers from Xiaomi, Oppo, Google and SamsungI’d kick myself if I didn’t wait and the blackberry was released and it’s a great but they wait seems so long now because there’s just no info no leaks and no much buzz. Lots of people don’t even know blackberry did phones running android. When someone sees the logo on my motion handset it always sparks that nostalgic conversation
You seem frustrated. FYI I do enjoy your channel and the passion for BB. I’m being patient with all this, and would rather Onward be late on delivery with a slam dunk phone. It’s going to be a champ device so take deep breaths. We’re all hungry for this.
Absolutely spot on brother! Keep these deep dives up because not only are we fans and users, it was beat into our brains if we got indoctrinated by the Blackberry security mantra in the military world....I think you should be on the board of onward mobility to keep them "on task".....but sadly I am beginning to think it is a bunch of pipe dreams coming from these "new kids on the block"
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video! I was a little worried about this one. It's outside the norm but I thought it was an important topic to discuss.
Blackberry's early failing was NOT Beta Testing BB10 on the Playbook--which could have provided a YEAR of user feedback and improvement before the phones were released. The parade of incompetence is shameful. On the security front--it's amazing that Blackberry was unable to convince governments to maintain Blackberry security. Maybe they didn't even try.
They didn't know what they had and didn't realize it needed more than 1gb of RAM to run properly and should have known better to say it was going to happen
@@TechOdyssey I remember people talking about how they didn't have money, etc. They had no debt and billions in the bank, but wouldn't make the investment to actually succeed, and they ended up wasting billions.
Blackberry has been moving out of the phone business for years now. Why would they continue spend money to support a product line they clearly are transitioning away from
Great video. Seems to me that 'we' as ordinary or common brand-device users with loyalty are the last to be considered by the company BlackBerry itself. They will focus on where the money and profit is and the opportunity for growth. To my knowledge the biggest users now of BlackBerry devices and other stuff are governments particularly that of the Canadian Gov. So we've got to be humble and accept they we will get the crumbs that fall off the plate of the BlackBerry product development team. Does that sound a bit too cynical?
This sentiment should be transcribed into a text file and shared until the phone releases. There isn't a stone unturned in your expression and I agree completely even and especially down to the non keyboard BBs I'm currently using my Dtek 60 upgraded from a PRIV a while ago based on your reviews and talks and I dig it still
Blackberry, design and hype! Have used Blackberry OS 10 for eight years effectively. But initial cost is high. Buy from secondary markets only to get low level support. Crackberry is limp. The mobile buyer and user is quite fickle!
I owned the first blackberry and every model after that which was the key2 but this time of the new device can't compare to my note 20 then I am out can't trust the name anymore.
Is someone still gonna release the Key 3? I was soooo letdown by the Key 2. I hate that they took away proprietary BlackBerry software. I like their gallery and music player app. Hate Android. They were so dumb to remove those things.
Yes the phone is still going to happen. It won't be called the key3. That is a BlackBerry mobile thing. It will be running Android which they have already said. Hopefully it will be here soon
@@TechOdyssey they need to make sure its all high end specs. Seriously, put back the BlackBerry proprietary apps. I love those. Hate Android music player and gallery apps. Just horrid. Key 2 did not have an amazing keyboard like Bold 9900. My fingers never got tired from typing on the 9900.
It's still possible to download the manuals for Blackberry phones if you are struggling to use them - They really are not that difficult to use once you get the hang of it!
I had a lot of bb but right now I think I will never buy bb anymore because u pay 700$ and after this nothing... I will never trust at least when Chen will be removed and serious ceo will have company maybe, as me they lost 1 in million loyal customer
I don't think John Chen has done a bad job keeping BlackBerry alive. But unfortunately he couldn't save the handset division. The board of directors and shareholders wanted someone who could save the company and be did, but it doesnt look like it used to. BlackBerry phones and BES were a failing model because the market changed and they pivoted into a security services company to survive and stay relevant into the future but it meant they had to quit making phones. Many people thought that BlackBerry would have been out of business years ago but they are still here. Thankfully they are licensing out the brand for someone else to make phones but still, it's very difficult to be happy with as someone who loves the brand and the phones. We will have to look and see what happens moving forward.
@@TechOdyssey it's sad that Google is becoming the default operating system besides apple for consumers. . Why aren't they getting sued for a duopoly. There is still Linux, Microstoft, Titan OS and others out there.
I sometimes wonder if it's just nostalgia that fuels my desires for a new BlackBerry. I agree, Onward Mobility needs a seriously good device to succeed. Well, in The long run they do. I'm probably going to buy it regardless. because, yanno, BLACKBERRY. ;-)
I think it depends on what device you listen to it on. I'm messing around with it trying to find the right levels. It sounds very low on my end when I'm listening to it and then when I watch it on my phone. Also maybe our preferences are different too. I'll try to turn it down some more if it's still coming off as distracting or too loud. Thanks for the feedback
@@ccssp "iphone" Yep, there's your problem right there - That's why you need a Blackberry. And don't even get us started on using the iphone on "speakerphone" Shocking audio reproduction!!
Blackberry still baffles me with the giant mistakes they made. I still believe bb10 could have become a mainstream competitor. Maybe I'm wrong, could be like the old Tucker car story where the big companies killed the competitor
It is not just that. The security patch is important. Even One Plus and Samsung give you three years of OS updates and four years of security patches. When you buy a smartphone, you buy brands-they give the commitment to your phones.
@@TechOdyssey I did not mean any specific model...But, Usually, Blackberry price are higher than its providing specification compared to android phones of same specifications...
They should learn from Samsung...galaxy note 10+ , which i having now (replacing for my bb key² because of spacebar key issue), big price but upto date...while bb key² last only for android 8.1(kitkat)....i mean, year 2021 now, but still with kitkat? BB is busy (very busy) in other investments... phones isn't one of them, but for$50-$100 per device payment just for using the name that's why they license the phone.... and now it's no more secure than a new Samsung, that's pretty much up to Onward and what software they are purchasing from BB.
We need Blackberry OS 10 back…. too many android OS. We need something that will differentiate blackberry from Android OS and iOS and that Blackberry 10 OS
Great video. I'm still using my Zed30. Works great. Can't wait for the new BB phone(s) to hit the market.
Nice. I can't wait either
As much as I have been holding out for the new phone, the points you bring up and the lack of any updates or teasers doesn't make me very optimistic. Onward Mobility should be thanking you as you are the only thing keeping this idea of new phone alive.
Congrats on the milestone
In all honesty do you think we are still going to get the blackberry or you think onward threw in the towel
Absolutely. Yes I do
Love your channel and watch everything you put up re Blackberry as people here in Australia still look at me weirdly when I pull out my BB phone. lol. Do you know if the NEW BB will be released or marketed here in Australia?? Keep up your great work Adam. Cheers Scott
My key 2 died today im now faced with moving to another brand with a virtual keyboard
Ugh. Sorry too hear that
Appreciate the reply im gutted I'm currently using a galaxy S8 as a replacement
Canadian government can mandate all phones for government offices and services to be BB phones. Do we think the country that makes the most phones doesn't have these kind of mandates in place?
In the mean time can they hurry up. My Z10 is on the losing end of things as we go forward and even I can't hold off much longer.
Being honest, I don't think they will be able to deliver. It really hasn't happened since the BlackBerry Classic. Ever since it's been either build quality or support or both that has suffered.
Hopefully they can get it right.
When someone sees the logo on my motion handset it always sparks that nostalgic conversation
awesome honesty! 😊 I appreciate it...great share & thoughts ..
You seem frustrated. FYI I do enjoy your channel and the passion for BB. I’m being patient with all this, and would rather Onward be late on delivery with a slam dunk phone. It’s going to be a champ device so take deep breaths. We’re all hungry for this.
Nope. Not frustrated. Just something I wanted to discuss. But thanks for checking.
Did anyone from BlackBerry or OnwardMobility reach out to you to respond to this video?
Completely agree, although I have few hopes that they're gonna deliver on all that..
We will see. I hope they can.
There isn't a stone unturned in your expression and I agree completely even and especially down to the non keyboard BBs I'm currently using my Dtek 60 upgraded from a PRIV a while ago based on your reviews and talks and I dig it still
Why not, i don't have a blackberry 5g mobile now, but still believe that it's the best signal capacity mobile that you can get
The next Blackberry phone will be like a Priv and also won't be out till the end of this year.
Blackberry, design and hype! Have used Blackberry OS 10 for eight years effectively. But initial cost is high. Buy from secondary markets only to
get low level support. Crackberry is limp. The mobile buyer and user is quite fickle!
I owned the first blackberry and every model after that which was the key2 but this time of the new device can't compare to my note 20 then I am out can't trust the name anymore.
I think the new device will be really impressive
Hope we are not Charlie Browns running one more time to kick the football, expecting Lucy (BB) not to pull it away again at the last second.
That's a good analogy
I am just about done waiting for the new Blackberry. I am getting an iPhone 12.
I don't blame you
I don’t see why onward mobility can’t take on the software Bb12. Scrap android
Yes ,even in 2023 I'm still using anyone as my daily driver.I'm just old soul.been using iPhone yes,I feel like there is something is missing
NO. Moreover, if there's no BB operating system it ain't a Blackberry. Yup, I hold them to that standard. Have a blessed day sir. =)
The biggest problem is Jon chenn second the Canadian government for giving up on BlackBerry jmop congrats on 50k subs
Thank you so very much ,As im in the UK I have many BB phones I wish I could use them
It's still possible to download the manuals for Blackberry phones if you are struggling to use them - They really are not that difficult to use once you get the hang of it!
As much as I loved Blackberry, it will take years before I spend a lot of money on a new phone.
Adam, thank you for keeping Security front and center. This is the sine qua non; otherwise BlackBerry is just another android phone.
is there a way to degoogle a blackberry?
Nope
@@TechOdyssey it's sad that Google is becoming the default operating system besides apple for consumers. . Why aren't they getting sued for a duopoly. There is still Linux, Microstoft, Titan OS and others out there.
I sometimes wonder if it's just nostalgia that fuels my desires for a new BlackBerry. I agree, Onward Mobility needs a seriously good device to succeed.
Well, in The long run they do. I'm probably going to buy it regardless. because, yanno, BLACKBERRY. ;-)
Think 1 bit of constructive criticism would be to not play music so loud does make it a bit harder to hear you, great video otherwise!!
@@TechOdyssey watching on my iPhone so guess levels could be different 👍🏼
@@ccssp "iphone" Yep, there's your problem right there - That's why you need a Blackberry. And don't even get us started on using the iphone on "speakerphone" Shocking audio reproduction!!
I feel that blackberry is way behind and in order to catch up with competition they have to start small before they start to compete again
I don't think so.
Blackberry still baffles me with the giant mistakes they made. I still believe bb10 could have become a mainstream competitor. Maybe I'm wrong, could be like the old Tucker car story where the big companies killed the competitor
Yup, I trust that Blackberry will release the new 5G model soon.
I hope so.
It is not just that. The security patch is important. Even One Plus and Samsung give you three years of OS updates and four years of security patches. When you buy a smartphone, you buy brands-they give the commitment to your phones.
Lucky me, I bought a Key2 for 110 Dollars
That's a good deal
I miss my blackberry classic let’s go bring out a new key 3 so I can dump the I phone 📱 please
Yes!!!!!
Yes it's all about security.... If BlackBerry moves forward with Blackberry 11 OS there'll be security. But if it's android even I can crack security
I do not believe we will be seeing a BlackBerry 11 OS, especially since the new phone will be Android.
I'm trying to wait on the new black berry phone
Blackberry was the best phone I've ever had!
Me too!
Price is Too High...
You don't know the price
@@TechOdyssey I did not mean any specific model...But, Usually, Blackberry price are higher than its providing specification compared to android phones of same specifications...
They should learn from Samsung...galaxy note 10+ , which i having now (replacing for my bb key² because of spacebar key issue), big price but upto date...while bb key² last only for android 8.1(kitkat)....i mean, year 2021 now, but still with kitkat? Price was a bomb for a small and not so interested spec when it came out first time...but, for the sake for it keyboard, i bought it without hesitated....lol...
.
If my bb key² not having with spacebar issue, i would still use it by now....unfortunately......
.
Security wise, cant denied BB was superior....but Samsunv has KNOX, which i can still trust it....I am sorry, BB key² and previous BB phone was good (i had Z10, Passport, BB Priv and lastly the BB Key² for 3 years!!), but not good enough to compete with other brands available...
No! They have to keep the keyboard! Touch screen keyboards are atrocious!
The next BlackBerry will have a physical keyboard
RIM is gone. They gave that to the drug cartels.
RIM was gone years ago when they changed the name to BlackBerry
@@TechOdyssey I know. Just what have always referred to them as. I was a engineer for them for years. I actually liked the black and white ones before the color ones came out.
No
