I purchased the Backpacker when they first came out; mine has S30V steel and came with the cord already installed on the handle. The paracord wrap provides a very secure grip to the knife. I have carried mine every day since I got it in a cross draw
position and I use 2 zip ties instead of the kydex loop to secure the knife to my belt.
    Good review.

For almost two years my primary EDC knife has been the Spyderco Dragonfly 2. I absolutely adore the thing, but I sometimes wonder if Spyderco will ever release a fixed blade version of it, to make it a bit more rugged. I’ve never seen a Backpacker in person, but from the photos and videos I’ve seen they appear to have near-identical blade profiles. How would you say they compare in terms of slicing ability?
