  • This Bunkbed setup is fantastic! I had to make a few modifications to allow my granddaughter to be able to have more space on her bunk. This would work in any minivan. Thanks for watching!

    I am so thankful for your ideas. Such a great idea to use the ( I had to edit cause I hit the post arrow by mistake) table as a bed and the cot for an extra person. Trust me; I’m going to watch all your videos. Using my vehicle to camp is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time now. I just might start after all. Thank you. Keep that beautiful relationship with your granddaughter. That is something she will cherish for the rest of her life. Blessings.🙏🏼🤗

    I use a low profile cot in my van.
    I bought a set of four 8x15" clear totes with lids at Walmart online and they fit perfectly under the cot. I chose this setup for my clothes because as you know, Michigan gets very humid in the summer. My clothes stay completely dry. I keep my bread and other snacks in one of them.

    • @ModernDayPilgrim
      @ModernDayPilgrim  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! And for sharing your tips! The world appreciate it❤️🙌🏼💯 yes, I do know they have shallow totes, a friend of mine, suggested some soft sided totes that you can fold up when you’re done, which was a really good idea, they were shallow as well. My trunk organizer, that’s under the bunk part of the set up will fit perfectly over there, and I will continue to utilize that for clothing. I will probably invest in a shallow under bed tote just to keep miscellaneous things that I have normally in a taller tote. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate your support! Have a fabulous weekend.😃🙌🏼💯

    Gotta be flexible for our grandbabies. 😍😍 That looks just as good as the first one. It looks like you have enough room behind that table to put another table up beside it ( maybe a few inches short). If that's so, you both can lay across the back and without your cot behind the driver's seat, you would have a lot of floor space. It's just a thought. It may just look bigger now with the bed lower. Now, you have my brain going to town. 😂 I have 2 grandkids to fit. I could just use both of your sleeping hack.👍 Thanks again for sharing your great ideas!!

      So in the very back is where my kitchen in in that blue box. And on the side of it goes my food and water. The area near the rear roof narrows in. That’s a great idea for a double bed though! I do prefer to be more free in my sleeping area and prefer the cot. Keep me posted if you ever get out can camping with the grands! Mine call me “Nena” 💜

      @@ModernDayPilgrim Currently in Amarillo, Texas. I call it Armadillo. March has been a great month for savings. I saved over 1,000 dollars in March alone, even with the traveling I did. That's why I'm a nomad. I found out I'll be able to put in paperwork in October to start collecting social security. I've given TONS of money away in my travels as a nomad. Now I'm saving for myself, and social security will give me an extra 1,200 dollars a month on top of what I make now. I'm gonna start taking time out for myself and go places I've never been. I'm done with writing books. It's time to start living like a king. Thanks for checking in Nancy Faye. Great video by the way, and I saw the whole thing. Oh, I almost forgot. Thanks for watching! And for your comment. Yes, I have thought about those types of sleeping arrangements. The problem with those for me is it does not leave any room for storage. IIke raised cots because I can use the underneath for storage. I’m a big proponent of designing concealed storage spaces that are easily accessible! This set up really fits my mojo! Brilliant solution to sleeping 2 people with 2 separate beds. Thanks for sharing! Question: What cot are you using? How high is it without the foam pad? You list the comfort cot, but said you swapped it out for a lower profile cot, but didn't mention the name of the low profile cot you ended up using.

    • @ModernDayPilgrim
      @ModernDayPilgrim  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching! The cat that is in this video is also a Coleman cat that is 72 inches long and 13 inches high. So it’s longer but lower to the ground.
      The Coleman comfortsmary cot is 69 inches long but 15 inches high. I ended up getting a 3 inch foam mattress for the 69 inch long cot. I could actually put that 3 inch foam mattress on the lower cot in this video. But for the purpose of simplicity, and having something that is possibly more readily available to the viewer, I used the self inflatable mat. Does that make sense? Hope this helps! Have a fantastic day!🙌🏼😃💯

      Thanks for watching! Yes, a friend of mine mentioned, getting a more shallow bin situation going, she recommended a soft sided one, and those are both great choices! I don’t know what I’m gonna do. But I do know on the one side of the bunk, part of the bed, where my bed is not going to be, that’s a great place to be able to put my storage bin. So I think it’s all going to work out. I use that open top trunk organizer. Anyhow, I appreciate you stopping by and commenting. Have a fabulous day!😃🙌🏼💯

    I patterned my minivan build after this youtuber th-cam.com/video/zyuALKh1qNw/w-d-xo.html
    In a nutshell it is a table that goes from about 3' behind the front seats all the way back to the rear. The top of this platform or table is my primary storage area. When sleeping, my legs go under the table. There is room for a full size adult to sleep next to me. I also built slide out tables just under this storage platform so that I could extend the table out the back door and forward so I could pull them out when I needed a workspace for cooking etc.

    Or what about a rooftop storage container?

    • @ModernDayPilgrim
      @ModernDayPilgrim  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching! Yes, roof rack would work for sure! I personally don’t use one or want one, as I am a minimalistic can camper. I only bring what I need, not what I think I might need just in case because that’s where the clutter begins! But for some, that live in their vehicles, and have more things in require more stuff, a roof rack is a perfect way to store your things. Thanks for taking the time to comment! Have a fantastic day!🙌🏼😃💯

      @@ModernDayPilgrim You are right about the less stuff philosophy. My thoughts exactly, and why I do not have a rooftop storage unit. However, since you refer several times to "losing storage space" wouldn't a rooftop bin be for those items whose storage space was lost? You'd only need use it if granddaughter is with you. Lucky you to be traveling with her!

    • @ModernDayPilgrim
      @ModernDayPilgrim  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @dianeericson7900 thanks for watching! Yes, rooftop storage is fantastic! For me, I don’t choose to have it simply because I don’t bring much and don’t need one. But for those who live in their vans full-time, that would be the best option, keeping the interior of the van clutter free. I don’t bring much when I go camping, and don’t really want to utilize a rooftop carrier just to bring stuff I don’t need. I also don’t choose to have one because when I stealth camp sometimes it can be a dead giveaway. I appreciate you taking the time to comment! Have a fantastic day!😃💯🙌🏼

    How much weight does the table support?

    • @ModernDayPilgrim
      @ModernDayPilgrim  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Carl! Sorry for the delay in responding! The manufacture says 200 pounds of evenly distributed weight. We are not evenly distributed humans, so each leg and in the center have to be supported. I would suggest using two by twos or PVC pipe. A steel frame, but it’s a foldable table, it should be supported in the center. These 4 foot tables do come in solid form, can be used as well. But the legs do not go down to the height. They’re fixed, because it’s a solid table, if that makes sense. So you may have to cut the legs of the table down a little bit in order to fit it right with the window the 67 inches. I hope this makes sense. Thanks and have a fantastic day!🙌🏼😃💯
