Weird Al has stated on multiple occasions that he obtains permission from each artist he parodies beforehand. Also, fair use does not apply in this context, as it is being made for profit.
I think that the fake songs are just part of Conan's basic cable joke. TBS is not that broke.

I remember the old days of when Andy was sent out all of the time. One of my favorite Conan skits was when Andy went to Space Camp. Still cracks me up.

We don't get to watch Conan on TV over here on Europe (non-UK) so I don't get many chances to see Andy at his best, because I only watch the highlights on TH-cam, but this video proves that he deserves his spot on the show.

I didn't know there were curlers that far south. I know there are some clubs in North Dakota and northern New York. In Canada, We have them in pretty much every town and city above 100 population.
We have our Orange County Curling Club, the Hollywood Club and the San Diego Club here in So Cal. There is a dedicated ice club opening in Tempe Arizona and there is arena curling in Las Vegas. it's a thing.
