    In this video you'll discover the nootropics benefits of Mucuna Pruriens or L-DOPA.
    The video is an update to a video I did on L-DOPA several years ago. This video on Mucuna Pruriens Includes why we use it as a nootropic, who should avoid using L-DOPA, recommended dosage, side effects and clinical research.
    L-DOPA is an amino acid synthesized in your brain from the amino acid L-Tyrosine. L-DOPA is a precursor of dopamine, epinephrine and norepinephrine.
    For a dopamine boost, neurohackers sometimes use Mucuna Pruriens, which contains high levels of L-DOPA. Also known as Velvet Bean, this legume has been used in Ayurvedic medicine since 1500 BC.
    L-DOPA improves memory by raising levels of dopamine in your brain. Taken as an extract of Mucuna Pruriens, it also promotes brain health. The compounds found in Mucuna scavenge free radicals, is a heavy metal chelator and is anti-bacterial.
    Neurohackers report that using Mucuna Pruriens helps in multi-tasking, improving motivation, more focus, less stress, and a sense of calm. You should find an increase in energy levels, less brain fog, a boost in overall mood and libido.
    This in-depth L-DOPA (Mucuna Pruriens) review covers:

    I've experimented with this in the past. Puts me in a great mood that day, but then the next day I get a very bad mood. This often happens when I experiment with brain changes.

      Dopamine and serotonin must be in balance. If all you do is increase dopamine by using L-DOPA it will suppress serotonin.

    Thanks for making this very useful and informative video on L DOPA and who should and shouldn't take it. My boyfriend actually recommended L DOPA to me for my mood because I can't take St John's Wort due to the meds I'm prescribed and I can't take Ashwagandha because when I did it stopped me from being able to sleep. After watching this video I now know that it wouldn't be a good idea for me to take L DOPA. Thanks for the very useful information.

      Better to use L-Tyrosine to increase dopamine for most "normal, healthy" adults.

      Hans, I don't fully understand what you are asking. If it's that coffee puts you to sleep I don't have a answer for you. My wife is the same way so she avoids coffee.

    I was told about L-Dopa by my Parkinson's specialist, which led me to investigate more, and discover your website. I am doing well with 100 mg of 99.6% L-Dopa from m. pruriens 3 times a day. My question is without carbidopa is the L-Dopa being converted to dopamine in my brain or body? Is there a natural AADC peripheral inhibitor to add to my stack? Thank you for the wealth of information on your website.

    • @NootropicsExpert

      Tommy , if you are using natural L-DOPA you do not need an AADC inhibitor. That is the beauty of using natural L-DOPA for Parkinson's Disease. You can safely increase your dose as needed too and not worry about it. See my video on Parkinson's for more ideas that may help you.th-cam.com/video/EBO2syZc15U/w-d-xo.html

    I just purchased Now Foods Dopa Mucuna and the label says 15% L Dopa.
    2 capsules = 800 mg Mucuna extract and 120mcg L Dopa
    I also ordered 750 mg L-Tyrosine.
    I’m trying to combat undiagnosed ADHD.
    I also have Hashimotos & under active thyroid.
    My dad and my maternal grandfather had Parkinson’s, my dad also had dementia.
    I’m terrified, i’m in my early 40s and already forgetful.
    I can’t tell if it’s my extreme anxiety or something else.
    Do I need stronger supplements or prescription?

    I’ve heard that dopamine and serotonin have to be balanced, so if I take Mucuna should I also take a serotonin precursor? Also, would taking Tyrosine not be just as effective as Mucuna, maybe better, because it would only make the dopamine that’s required, wouldn’t it?

    • @NootropicsExpert

      Yes, you should support serotonin as well by using L-Tryptophan. Best to take it before bed because serotonin goes on to make melatonin.

    How is this any different/addictive to alcohol, cigarettes or sugar which spike dopamine?

    • @NootropicsExpert

      This is a natural form of L-DOPA to produce dopamine. Dopamine in itself is not addictive. But if your brain is wired for addiction then anything that boosts dopamine could be a problem.
      The thing is if you didn't have any dopamine in your system you would be dead. And dopamine declines by 10% per decade starting in your early 20's .

    🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
