- As with most things in life that are out of man's control, Joe Dawson (J.Byrnes) fails to reach in time and protect his beloved one in her house. Later that day he plays the sad love-story song for it is the music, the single thing, that can put his thoughts and heart in piece, at least for awhile.

The two greatest things about highlander were the incredible flashbacks & Joe's blues playing. Love that ivory strat.
I've been looking for this clip. Thanks.
Just rediscovered this gem. Originally seeing it on TV got me to buy a couple of Jim's albums, but to this day, this is my favorite performance of his. When it comes to the Blues, I don't know, I just don't like it performed with a band. Just him and his guitar feels so much more personal, intimate and powerful...
Great episode, great music! I also remember a rare moment when Amanda proved helpful.
After I saw the full show of Highlander I remember two great things very well, first the four horsemen , and second this heart stopping song by Joe Dawson one of the best supporting actors. Thank you so much for the upload.
a veces me tranquiliza lo que no entiendo
I've heard other versions of this song from decades back...THIS acoustic version is THE BEST in my mind. Perfect
The song that got me into blues music, keep rocking Jim!
I've been a fan of Jim Byrnes ever since he first appeared in Immortal. His talent is amazing!
Jim Byrne's is in the Blues Hall of Fame.
@@staycalmandrelaxed5724 Thank you for the info. He certainly deserves to be in the Blues Hall of Fame! What a great talent.
I Remember Jim byrnes From The Highlander-good To Hear Him sing The Blues...
I can't believe only 507 people LIKE good music.
I was drawn into this episode with Joe Dawson lost his lover Lauren Gale who was murdered by immortal John Durgan. Dawson's song drawn me in mostly feeling his pain for his loss. I never thought that he can sing until this. God bless you, Jim Byrnes.
What a great singer ? Wow
God bless you, sir, thanks for the upload.
I haven't heard this since it first aired in the 90s, and I've searched sporadically.
His name's Jim Byrnes, but he'll always be Joe Dawson to me, and this clip sees right into a man's soul.
Thank you, this is awesome!!!! have seen Jim in person - does not seem like he is acting in this video clip - he really sings like this all the time. Puts every thing he has into his music.
I just heard him play and sing with his band at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival. Awesome concert.
Awesome 😎💯👍❤️🥰🤣👏
He is very good
🔥🔥🔥I can't find his video about a house on the lake, I don't remember exactly, this is the best name🔥🔥🔥

SUPERB
thanx for your answer. Now i will remember ;)
As I recall, a lot of Jim Byrnes's actual life history was put into Joe Dawson's back story. Both are- or were in Dawson's case- Vietnam veterans who saw a lot of shit.
For those wondering, this song is from Season 3 Episode 4: The Cross of St. Antoine. I just finished a post looking at that episode on my site, CoronaJumper. Track it down if you're interested. Embedded this video to show what a great moment Joe's singing was. Thanks for the upload!
Blake, it's "love is just a gamble"

Cross of St Antoine
Nice to hear this song after years ...:) Anyway in which episode of HIGLANDER it was performed?
Can anyone help me find the tabs for this specific cover I cannot find this specific covers tabs
Fro which episode was that ?
A cross of St.Antoine
what the name of this song ?
Love is just a gamble. Hope you'll enjoy the answer 7 years after 😁
does anyone know what guitar he is using
Fender Stratocaster
This is such a great song, but the conversation between the characters is just dumb, combined they've lived over 1,500 years but they're saying he's had a 'hell of a life!'
