- Mom, Grandmother (Oma), Great Grandmother...Mrs. Fritz shares her favorite recipes that her family and friends have been enjoying for many many years. Most are Hungarian or German, with some Canadian as well. This is the fourth recipe in the series. Her "yummy" Hungarian Goulash and Galuska.
I love your Oma. My neighbor said he missed Hungarian cooking. I decided to try and fix some for him. I watched many different cooking videos but it was yours that touched my heart, so I ordered the things I would need and watched and took notes. I made the Goulash first. I called my neighbor and told him the price he had to pay was total honesty. I have no idea what it should have taste like so he promised to give me an honest review. His wife was quick to tell me that he is a tough guy and nothing makes him cry, but he cried because it was exactly as he remembered his mother making. I am so glad I found your videos. I love your mom and I hope she is still doing well and that she knows in some way how many lives she has touched in a positive way/
Don't you just love the old Tupperware stuff she's using. Nothing but the best.
Reminds me of my mum using hers
I bought a set off Ebay after I watched her video 😂
Lol!! Love her I want to adopt her as my Grandmother!!🤣🤣🥰
I love Tupperware, it is always airtight and if you ever find an old broken piece at a Goodwill....your nearest Tupperware lady will replace it for free!
@@dannygunter I’m doing the same lol 70s colors
Anyone else have an urge to bear hug this lady?
Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :)
Rodney Asbrock me me me
Don't do it. she's German. They don't like to be hugged....
@@tarandondesigns6956 WRONG. Another lie. Guess you never went to a BEER GARDEN? This lady is Hungarian. Why be nasty?
Yes!! I want to give her a hug!
My Mother, of Czech/German roots, made a lot of Oma's dishes. But being raised with almost nothing through the Great Depression, some of Oma's habits would have driven her crazy! You scrape out every last drop from a bowl with a spatula! And then you make sure with a clean finger! Absolutely nothing went to waste. Old habits from the days of yesteryears... Thanks Oma!
Your mom is a real gem and I just love how sweet she is reminds me of my grandma God bless you
Holy crap, the stuff you find on the internet! I am both German (mother) and Hungarian (father) and … Canadian-born... This channel was made for me! Thank you, and thank you OMA!!
I make this EXACTLY the way Oma says and it comes out perfect every time!
I'd rather watch Oma than those fancy pants cooks on The Food Network!!! I already made your potato dish that you recorded with your son, and it was delicious!! Thank you for taking the time to share your cooking/recipes with us.
Which episode would that be?
Oma is so adorable! I live in the US for a very long time, but I came from Slovakia, which border with Hungary and Austria, so I too make Galusky quite often. God bless you and keep you sweet Oma!
Hi. My name is Slavka and also from Slovakia. I don't know why, but I never enjoy my own goulash. Always somebody else. My mother and friends love it.
I love Oma. I am 76, Hungarian born from Budapest. Oma sounds like my mother!
I watch everything Oma makes & try most myself..
What a wonderful son you've raised. Sharing you with all of us. He's a blessing.. I love your smile Oma - you bring joy to our kitchens..
Yes. A very fine lady -very fine children :)
I adore you so much Oma!! I would give anything to learn how to make your incredible recipes in person. Or just sit at your table and eat! You are such an incredible cook and you have helped so many people ❤️
It pisses me off when I see people give thumbs down especially to a nice lady like this one! I'm really enjoying her watching the cook! Oma, God bless you!
I think people today need to watch moreover people cook so they can learn a house to cook! Thank you grama!
Oma, this is one of your viewers. Just found on Utube about 2 months ago and have made your Hungarian Goulash with Galuska. I'm Italian, my husband Irish. We both loved it. Your instructions are given easily and of course I love all your recipes. Today is Easter Sunday and decided not to make any of my Mama's Italian specialties but am making your beef goulash. I had to wait for a very good brand of paprika and maggi. Happy Easter Oma and hope you are well and enjoying your family. It's wonderful to have a son like your's doing such a professional job of your videos. You are just wonderful. I lost my Mama in 1989 and I did have her recipes and did get help from siblings. I published a book basically for the future generations so she will hopefully know her and my Dad as we did. Bless you. Loretta Lawrence
The muscle memory that stirs, chops, and fries, food is developed through work and years of love, definitely the secret recipe.
YES YES YES.....ONE WARM BEAR HUG for this charming Lady. Such a sweetheart and did a most superb presentation of her dish. WOW....I miss miss miss my Grandma, who too was a charming wonderful cook / baker. Thanks so much "OMA" for your great presentation of a truly DELISH dish.
God Bless...

This recipe looks absolutely delicious ☺️ I'm going to try and make this recipe this weekend for Sunday dinner. Thank you for this wonderful recipe 😊
My very first time on your channel watching you cooking your best recipe makes me hungry .. I will get your recipe and cook it for my family .. sure they will enjoy this .. Thanks for sharing your cooking Mrs. Fritz. God Bless us all
Oma, I'm crazy about you! My Aunt Heidi used to wear house dresses just like yours and her cooking was out of this world. My aunt, my mother and my Oma all cooked these same dishes and watching your videos is like being back in the kitchen of my childhood. To this day, I love cooking these Hungarian favorites. Thanks for making these wonderful videos and keep them coming!
Hi Ms. Oma. I am so glad I accidently found you on TH-cam. I am African American. However, you can make anyone love this recipe! You are the BOMB!!! I wish I knew you personally so I could enjoy your cooking! Lol!!! I miss going to make this recipe! Thank you and sending you much love!! You sound so sweet!
donna just cam upon this. FYI Oma is hungrian for grandmother. no need for the ms infront. try all of her recipies hungrian food is among the best in the world
Without the paprika, it's plain beef stew the way I make it and I'm Mexican! But I have never tried it this way. Looks delicious to me too. My Czech mother-in-law taught me how to make similar dumplings made with mashed potatoes and dropped by the edge of a plate on to the hot water to cook and then she would add them to fried cabbage. I NEVER tasted anything so delicious. They are time consuming but so worth the extra work.
@@ronbarchfeld2573 Oma is German for grandma. Sajat is Hungarian for grandma.
@@elisabethschreiber5643 You're right that Oma is German.
But Google translate didn't give you the answer. In Hungarian grandma is nagymama or nagyi (dimunitive).
"Sajat" doesn't exist in the language. The word ,,saját" means a possessive, like mine, yours, his, etc. but for any pronouns.
What a lovely comment Donna!
Oma your adorable. You cook like we ate in house when I was young...going to make goulash tonight!
I recently discovered "Cooking With Oma" and I love every episode. Oma reminds me so much of my Oma. I feel like I've known Oma forever. I was a bit sad to see that Oma has retired but I completely understand. I hope that Oma makes an appearance real soon. If so I would like to make a request of recipes if she knows them, Kugelis or Konigsberger Klopse(I made this few times, it turned out just like my Oma's). My Oma made these often when I was a child it's so YUMMY!! Thank you so much to, "Sharing From" for bring this wonderful series to the world. I truly adore Oma, she brings me back to my youth and watching my Oma cook or bake. Thank you, Oma!
My husband says I better hurry up and get a plate of this because he cant stop eating it. We love your recipes . And you too!!!
Her dish warms the heart and the soul. I love goulash 😊😊
We just made this again during the Covid quarantine. Love it. Hope all is well with you and you’re family are safe. Thank you for sharing your mom with this channel.

This looks absolutely stunning Oma, thank you for sharing! I hope you are well 4 years on. Blessings from Adelaide, Australia. 💞🌸
Thank you Oma, so so much for sharing your recipes. My grandmother was Goldie Buti and grandfather Varady. My mother said she could really cook authentic Hungarian foods I never got to know them but it just makes me happy you on here to teach your recipes and Yummy is right!
Thank you Oma! You are just amazing. I’m so glad I found your videos. I love them. I will watch them again and again. And the recipes...Yummy! Thank you...❤️
Szerbusz Oma, I enjoyed watching your video on how to make Goulash. My mother was English and married a Hungarian man, my stepfather. She was a great cook and made lots of Hungarian recipes that were delicious. I can make some recipes but never made goulash. Thank you for the masterclass. Linda
Oma you are adorable! I am of Hungarian decent and watching you in the kitchen reminds me of my Grandmother Margie who was a fabulous old world cook. Your goulash recipe is devine. I look forward to more of your videos and recipes. Please accept a cyber hug from a new fan.
I will make this Hungarian Goulash and galuska tonight. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful recipes.
I love Cooking with Oma! She is too sweet and reminds me of my own Oma who is no longer with us. I thought I was going into labor with my first child the other day and put Cooking with Oma on to stay calm and collected, it did the trick, lol

Oma, you have walked me through a recipe that our dear mother made(she took a few short cuts by pouring over wide egg noodles since she was busy at work while we were at school). I see why your brother said it was the best- the love you put into it shows. Thank you for sharing your recipe. 😃💞🙋
Nice food i will do it soon

To show the recipes.
Omg so cute. These older generation cooking styles need to be protected and learned. There’s nothing like it.

You are the BEST! Years ago I had an amazing Hungarian Goulash at a restaurant in Houston, I've been wanting to know how to make it all this time. . . Thank YOU Oma! I'm sure it's AHHHmazing, I'll be making your recipe later this week, can't wait to try it! Yummy!!!
Loved this video, watched twice to get everything written down. Thanks!
Looks delicious! I love watching your channel, just wish I came across it much sooner, reminds me so much of home & my mother as well worn her dress gown 😊 Born & raised in Augsburg Germany, goulash was always made in our house and our family still make it to this day, along so many other recipes, including Spätzle, Roulade, Zwetschgendache & the list goes on. Truly authentic, love it.
Goulash looks incredible Oma! I love the color that the paprika gives the gravy.
Looks yummy! Galuska, Spaetzle -> I guess the latter name is not in use anymore, only galuska - but 'nokedli' is the most popular name for this kind of pasta in Hungary. Another pasta version, the "Csipetke" is also popular ("csipet" means "a pinch of sg"): you add more flour to the dough (to make it as hard as playdoh), then you pinch little pieces of it and throw them right into the boiling, salty water. Csipetke goes well with the little more watery version of goulash, the "gulyas leves", a thick soup. As for nokedli/galuska, my grandma told me the dough is ready to be cooked when working it produces air bubbles in the dough. I haven't managed to make a perfect batch yet :)
You are exactly right.
I was born in London to my German mother in 1965 and in the mid 70's when my dear mum finally got some money, together with my 3 sisters and brother we travelled to Germany so we could see her parent's, my grandparents for the first time. It was the greatest adventure! I remember my grandmother making Spaetzle with a meat sauce. I remember my grandma standing over a huge pot of boiling water slowly tipping in the Spaetzle mix whilst slicing it with a knife as it came over the edge of the bowl. I could hardly see her hand move! It's one of my oldest memories for some reason and it was delicious. And my aunt and uncle owned a dairy farm in another village and the food we ate back then was divine.
My Hungarian m
Momma calls it spaetzle. Our noodles are bigger as Oma describes.
I just found your channel by accident a few days ago and my girlfriend and I made your goulash and galuska tonight. It was delicious! thanks!
You are too sweet.....I can't stand it!!!!! I am going to try this recipe also!!! I want to teach my grand-kids how to make your recipes! Thanks again and a shout out to the camera man! Warmest of hugs to you both...I really appreciate your time!
Köszönöm szépen for this, Oma. I myself prefer lard to oil for my gulyas. Greetings from Austria!
Hi Oma I made the goulash this evening it was so YUMMY my family enjoyed it very much thank you for teaching us how to make it. You are a very sweet lady Oma. Good night.
Thank you for sharing this recipe. It looks and sounds amazing! 😊
This is so authentic! I loved watching Oma cook. Great job!
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.
I made this tonight and it was wonderful! I live in the USA and I hate most of our cuisine, this goulash was exquisite!! Thank you for sharing these recipes!!
Dear Oma...this so delicious! And my husband, the picky eater loves it! Thank you for a new tradition for my family!
Thank you! Such a treat to find Cooking with Oma!
This looks exactly like the gulash I'd get at my grandparent's house when I was younger. I can practically taste it after watching this video.
OMA you have a loving and caring spirit. I know your food taste DELICIOUS!
Yummy Yummy Oma !!! Wow ! I love it. Thank you so much once again.

I love all of your recipies Oma. This one is one of my favorites. Both of my Omas passed on before i was born and i never got to know them. Id like to think they were a lot like you. Keep up the great work. :)
Hey Oma! That looks so good. I'll make that tomorrow night.!!
I have so many bottles of Hungarian paprika and celery salt because of oma... she reminds me of mine so I make one of her dishes once a week
Thank you Oma. Two thumbs up for you 👍👍
I just love her!!! It looks delicious, regards from Colombia 🤗❤️🇨🇴
I bet the smell inside the kitchen is simply awesome.
I enjoy watching cooking with Oma :) I love goulash.i have tasted it from my European friends.Big Hug Oma :)
Had to revisit! (Because....I'm SO hungry for this!) Thank you!
Thank you Oma....I just discovered you today for the 1st time and I'm so happy I did. I love what I have seen so far. I'll be watching your other videos for sure...
I have been searching for a genuine goulash recipe for a long time and have finally found it with you. My mother used to make a fantastic goulash but I, unfortunately, never learned her recipe. I make a beef stew (which I love) but it's not like this red goulash, it's a brown gravy. And now I learned how to make Galuska too!!! Am I lucky or what??? Amazing, thank you once again. I am now a BIG fan Oma!!!
Oh wow. This looks amazing! I am going to try this recipe.
Thanks Oma. Gonna try making the dish this weekend. Love the video's
I love your Oma! This recipe looks yummy and I plan on trying it soon with my own Oma!
Oh MY! This looks appetizing. Especially the galuska. I'm a sucker when it comes to "anything dumplings", don't care for the meat part, but those galuska's ....Yummy
Thank you Ma'am 🙂🌼
OMA FROM ARGENTINA!! YOU ROCK!!! You remeber me of my grandma!! Her dishes remain in my soul!!!!!
thanks for posting this, I enjoyed it. that woman was really fun.
Just great! Never actually tried to make spaetzl before but did today_success! Danke OMA xx
Dear Oma. Thank you. I have been to Hungary last year and I was very disappointed when I ordered goulash, it was so watery. This however looks lovely!
It was watery because you got a soup that is rich in meat and vegetables as goulash is originally a soup for Hungarians. If you want the goulash Oma made you will need to ask for pörkölt next time. Hopefully, then you won't be disappointed. 🙂
She reminds me of my mam... she was Yugoslavian and this lady talks liked her
You make hungry ! My husband is Hungarian so he was raised on all this food. His grandparents were from there. So I like to make the odd dish to. I’m used to cooking Polish food lol. But I love Hungarian food. Mmmmyummy
So excited to try your goulash Oma! I love your recipes. Thank you!!
Love her and her recipes. Tired of yummy. All the different countries with no English except the YUMMY thumbs up at the end. Def miss that you wont be making any more videos, Oma. Hope you're doing well.
Hello Oma 😁
At first i must say you are great.
That is the same way my Grandmother and Mother make the Spätzle 😁, but the use Spätzle Brett (Spätzle Board) or a Spräzle Press (for larger Amount).
The Goulash looks amazing.
Greetings from the Lake of Constance (South Germany)
Patrick Pfleghar American goulash is totally different. So interesting how that happens.
Loved this and you, Oma. Thank you.
I made this today. FANTASTIC! Bought Maggi (imported from Germany, with the red cap - not yellow) through Amazon. Used crushed garlic added half way through the onion saute, instead of garlic powder. I also seared the meat separately with salt, pepper and olive oil in a hot cast iron skillet before adding it to pot and slow cooking. For the Galuska, I used Pillsbury Cake Flour. It was super easy. Don't let the galuska maker sit over the hot steam too long or your mixture will stick to it. 5 STARS!
My Goulash is now simmering Oma. Smells heavenly so I know it will be delicious. I must say I find the background music annoying. I'm ADHD is why. LOL! I have trouble sifting your words out although most people will not notice the music. Love al your recipes and teaching.
My mom makes galuska in soup also ..your a very good cook god bless you
FINALLY a REAL Hungarian Goulash recipe! Thank you so much!
This isn't gulyás. Hungarian Gulyás is a soup. Trust a Hungarian whose been eating real gulyás all his life.
@@kiwikid4688 Are you sure a Hungarian? There are 2 types of Goulash strew and soup.
@@KC-hx3jc bullshit.... it's a soup.
@@kiwikid4688 my people are from the rural area around Szeged and this goulash is very close to my grandmother's. The biggest difference is that grandma served the sour cream on the side and she used a few additional spices.
This is actually what Hungarians call pörkölt. Gulyás is a delicious soup made with csipetke (pinched noodles made with egg and flour, no water).
Oma, I will be going to the supermarket to get all the ingredients. Thank you. It looks YUMMY!
make sure you get real hungarian (sweet) paprika. The other stuff just wonk work right.
This is the recipe for me and may I say what a lovely gracious lady you are
I just found you, Oma!! How wonderful to find you and your wonderful family recipes! I can almost smell the goulash! Thank you!! xoxo
Thank you! My grandmother made goulash just like that for every holiday and/or birthday meal when I was growing up. We all loved it but none of us learned to make it, and of course with something this simple there was no written recipe. Once she showed me how to make the spatzle. Now i can make the stew that goes with it (if i can find Hungarian paprika anywhere)
How wonderful Oma,an old tradition in our family too,God bless and have subed and scribed,God bless !!!!!
Super glad I found this recipe! As a kid we had some Hungarian family friends and later on some extended family too when a cousin married a Hungarian boy. Always got so excited whenever we were invited to dinner for a family event or a special occasion, the food was always fantastic. My family is Italian and even the older generations adored the food, which is saying something considering how snobby they can be about food.
I think this recipe is more what Hungarians would call a pörkölt, at least whenever we ate with our Hungarian friends and family Goulash (Gulyás) was always more of a soup served as a first course and was quite different to this. One of the Hungarian uncles once explained to me that the use of the word "goulash" in English to refer to a pörkölt came from the times of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In Austria even still today, what they cook and serve there and call "goulash" is the same as this slow-cooked beef stew. So it looks like it was in Austria that they mixed the names up and that's the name that ended up being exported with the dish to the rest of the world.
Also I always was told those noodles were called "nokedli" in Hungarian. They used to make them exactly the same way with a "spätzlehobel" above the pot just like in this video. Is there a difference between nokedli and galuska or are they just different words for the same thing?
Thanks so much for these awesome videos, Oma is the best! Brings back so many memories, I'm making this for sure next winter.
Another amazing recipe !
