No, Mick, we appreciate you man. For everything you did for us in your career, and now agreeing to have your own show every week to tell your stories, owe you man. There’s a reason Conrad was after you for so long, and you’ve shown us all why you’re worth watching and listening too. Again. This has become my favorite wrestling podcast. Keep getting those sponsors tho, we all know how much Rock is suffering these days so maybe you can kick him a few bucks here and there. Or you could just kick the Young Bucks and do us all a favor?

Mick when he’s talking about the match with Terry Gordy, saying he had “reason to believe he may make the final” and not being comfortable saying exactly why and asking fans to read between the lines is a big reason i’m such a Foley fan in the first place. The sentimentality of wanting to keep even a shred of magic in his stories when others will freely shatter the illusion. We love you Mick, never change!! 👉🏻👉🏻

He just had the height and size that made him look like the movie actor Gunnar Hansen who played the character in the original film. Plus, Rick had a great stint in Mexico as a bleach blonde well before he donned the leather.

A little side info! The infamous Kawasaki Stadium was indeed delipataded, had been around since the 50's and was finally knocked down in 2003 and has since been rebuilt as a small minor league baseball stadium. The great Foley vs. Funk death match in early 95 took place in Honjo, literally the far end of Saitama, I used to live there and still had to Google the place cause it's so far out and a ridiculous place to run a show.

As someone who pays their bills as a professional Japanese historian I just wanted to make a few comments. I really wish I could have asked Mick why he was referring to the Korakuen Hall as being in "southern" Japan.... It sort of seemed like he was saying someone else may have indicated that to him but that is absolutely not the case.
In Japanese History when we discuss geographical issues or use geography we often take the country, including the southern half of what is today Hokkaido, as well as all of Kyushu and Shikkoku and naturally Honshu and we flip them horizontally. In that sense Tokyo or as it was known throughout history, Edo, would be considered eastern Japan... yes, with the horizontal consideration, you could technically say "south eastern" in a sense but I dont exactly think Mick or his friend were discussing say the Heian period or the Sengoku Jidai or the Yuki War etc etc so I dont see where they'd be considering the map of Japan in its historical horizontal usage.
That said, when considering Japan as it sits on any globe, Tokyo would be north eastern Japan. It's nitpicking and probably pretentious dare I say presumptuous but I don't know, I'm just curious, dumb and trivial as it may be. Lol 😆
To close, Mick made an interesting sorta humorous but definitely true comment about the fans/spectators and the yakuza. It is a situation that continues to exist even today (year 2022). Although as of the year 2022 the yakuza on a national level has been tremendously weakened by inventive new laws and dogged, diligent enforcement and pursuit by the authorities, the yakuza has nevertheless not been eradicated by any means and in all likelihood will continue to exist in one form or another for a long time to come, albeit with greatly reduced influence and power as anti yakuza measures continue.
As such, the situation is one where yakuza approach usually small private business, often service industries, and they essentially force the business owners into buying exorbitant amounts of tickets to puroresu cards with the indication that they can then sell the tickets themselves as they see fit, half the time with the yakuza expecting a commission on ticket sales, the other half of the time the yakuza is satisfied just to get rid of the tickets. So that is definitely true, what Mick said, about the crowd appearing as a result of yakuza influence. It is an especially prevelant issue in the rural areas and given the fact that the largest, historically speaking, yakuza family is the Yamaguchi gumi, based in Kobe, the issue was especially prevelant in all of the cases of Super Delfins attempts to launch various promotions [Osaka PRO for instance] in nearby Osaka.

Nevertheless if thats my only small gripe out of that match besides the bomb being a dud they did great ! I only wish that everything wouldve went right with that bomb going off FOR THEM not us fans so much . Because they deserved that ending for an epic famous match we are still talking about 27 years later .

Is it just me? Or does Mick have a tick centered around blinking a certain way every few seconds? I really hope it's not a neurological side effect . . .
    Edit: He addresses it @ 2:02:40 . . .

Watching the king of the death match with iwa Japan and fmw you're dealing with barbed wire fire glass thumbtacks everything under the sun and Cactus Jack was just perfect for this environment fighting against Legends like Terry funk Terry Gordy and just so much more than violence with having like a rare DVD like I have it's something that I really enjoy and I put it on when I want to watch DEATH match wrestling with companies like XPW Game Changer wrestling combat zone wrestling icw who do these kind of matches you always go to where it began with Cactus Jack and Terry Funk

Conrad trying to tell the guy who was THERE how many people were in attendance. Mick calls him out and Connie quickly backpedals “We’ll I know you would have still worked it in front of 200 Mick”
    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Put the money mark mortgage man in his place Mick. Connie is always cappin af 😁 Big man you don’t know, too much Dave Meltzer propaganda got him trying to book his own fan fiction.

Please, those numbers are easily verifiable, and Mick wouldn't have known the difference between 1200 and just under a thousand.

By the way, people who take Meltzer's deal seriously enough to get upset are a weird, creepy bunch.
