25 years ago when I was a kid, we used to complain about how shitty the streets were in my hometown. The roads are so bad it's a common conversation amongst everyone who lives here. We always assumed everywhere else had better streets for skateboarding. Now that I'm skating again and watching videos on TH-cam I hear everyone from everywhere complain about their streets aiming they are the crustiest. I guess it's not just my city - it's every city.
Inspiring! Thought about going to my hometown and re-tracing some old street routes. Would also have to be cool as the roads can get soft. Central Illinois.
Awesome jays!!! ive been looking for a review on these and knew you were going to deliver with no bs. I'm 47 and loving it coming back after 34 years!! ive got a great park nearby that is pretty transition based but rough and slippery coz of the footy field its boarded by... gets super dusty. i think these might be the wheel for it. Thanks heaps for the review and cheers from Australia!!
@@bennyg949 Hell Yeah! I think there gonna be just what your looking for and enjoy the fun of being a adult kid again on your board. Lets roll when i make it over there🦘🛹❤️
I don’t know how I feel about the 88s yet. They do feel faster and smoother on rough stuff, but I don’t think they power slide as well. It’s not entirely a bad thing though. I never slid out on them like I did with the 93s. You definitely slide the shit out of them on that curb though, so I’m wondering if I need to break them in some more. I’m looking forward to doing more testing on them. I bet they’re fun as hell on a pump track.
Yo! I’ve run those 93s for a good while (since you had recommended them). I just picked up the Andy Anderson Nanos in 97a, because as much as I love the feel of the 93s on rough terrain, they just don’t slide like the 100s and 101s that I was used to. I thought these 97a wheels might get me closer to the feel I’m looking for. Now with these 88s you’re reviewing… Fuck!!! Do I have to dial my shit back to 1988??? Maybe softer IS the way to go. It’s only $$$, I guess. 😹 I’ll at least try these 97s over the weekend and see what’s up. Thanks for your vids, bud. Keep fucking shit up!!! Just turned 50, and I know you’re just 2 years behind. Keep pushing!!!! Keeps me hyped! Much love to you and Jay!!! Onya too, I guess. 👻
So Bones and Powell are under the same umbrella. Bones X-Formula 97a and Powell 97a Dragons (Nano Cubics) feel about the same to me, I suspect some formula sharing. Bones X-formula also come in 99a, which is an overall sweet spot for me. Absorb a TON of vibration but still slides like a true hard wheel. I love the 54 mm Bones 99a X-Formula I have. I'm super hopeful that the next Dragon duro will be 99a, and they'll make 99a Nano Cubic.
@@SkinnySkatesI had looked at some of the X-Formula wheels, but had not picked up a set. I’ll check if there are shapes and widths I’d be interested in. 👍🏼
@PipingAintEasy the V6 is the widest X-Formula wheel, I believe, which is what I'm on. It's their newest shape. It's based on the V5 shape, just wider.
Dope grip job. If I may ask how long is that stretch and warm up routine you do pre skate? Also thanks for the in-depth testing and review. I've skated Globe 88A wheels in the past and it was ok but with all that crust I'd be using 80A bones Filmer wheels. This vid with the 88As though is tempting.
Rough roads? Those would be considered fairly smooth in tne Poconos. All the roads around here are chipped and tarred. Actual loose gravel. I'll have to snag a set of these 88's, didn't even know they were available.

Thank you!✌🏻🛹❤️
these are literally the only soft wheel thats under 90a on the market that can slappy and slide well, they gonna sell like crazy.
