  • Panantukan Online - The Art of Weaponized Empty Hands, launches tomorrow!
In this short tutorial from our course, we're demonstrating how to safely enter in on an opponent throwing a commonly used attack - the overhand. The Vertical Gunting (translated as 'scissors') gets its name from the scissor-like motion made with your hands and arms. The purpose of the technique is to get low, out of the power arc of the punch, and then to cover your head using your elbows. The spearing and crashing effect is produced from the collision of your opponent charging at you.

Yeah, the Gianfranco spearblock! I love this technique. One of the best techniques you can really rely on in a real fight when you are in a pinch under a barrage of wild attacks. Thumbs up!

    Hi! :)
Why are there so few kicks in this style?

There are a few. Mostly low line kicks and stomps. The most important thing is to maintain mobility and balance to prevent falling or getting taken down.
