He wrote all three songs himself and it send shockwave in Korea. That's how he got the title "self produced idol" and gain alot of respect from the public and the industry. He changed alot in the Kpop scene. What you see in K-pop right now is mostly influenced by him and his group. The lightsticks, the crazy hairstyle and hair color, groups having to produce their own music etc etc and these are just a few things on top of my head that i can say because there's many more. I'm also an ARMY(BTS fan). BigBang and G-Dragon were THE trend starters and setters in K-pop. HUGE influence, and a bit similar to BTS when it comes to how they made their company, or at the very least it was more of a collaboration. And for those who don’t know, GD was SM’s former trainee, he had been training in SM for 6 years solid, but later on he found out that SM’ style is not his cup of tea, it’s different from what he’d like to do. He did quit SM and joined YG instead so he could produce his own music, best decision ever.

This is all I would add - at one time for several years GD was the single biggest solo idol in Kpop - on top of being in the no. 1 band in all of Asia.
You have to watch their other MAMA performances, you can pick any of them it doesn't even matter. This is pretty much the only boy group I stan, and they have a larger than usual male fan base. Other male idols love them and even the Korean rappers that clown idols give them respect. I would say you're due for a Bigbang deep dive, they built YG and YG himself will admit that.
Actually no.... YG wasn't built by Bigbang, they just didn't blow up before Bigbang. Before Bigbang... YG did have reputable artists in their company albeit not really internationally known but does have a fanbase in Korea and a small following globally at that time. Se7en was the biggest thing to happen for YG before Bigbang. 1TYM, Jinusean, Se7en, they were the OG of YG. YG would tell you they were the foundation of YG Entertainment. Those 3 were the ones who put YG Entertainment into mainstream Korean music, without them, Bigbang, 2NE1 or Blackpink wouldn't have existed. Bigbang replaced 1TYM, and Teddy from 1TYM helped YG produce the new YG idols, and later started YG associate label The Black Label (current Taeyang, Rosé & Somi's company). I'd put it this way and say Bigbang first, and then along with 2NE1 later, blew YG up.

Yes Bigbang and 2ne1 were in the same agency YG Ent. and around that time every band wanted to be like them. The same agency as winner, ikon, black pink, treasure, baby monster. GD or gdragon; leader of the group, accompanied with Taeyang and Daesung performed incredibly and you can see their “POWER” just by hearing the crowd and the idols reaction. Taeyang right now is on tour and Daesung has a TH-cam channel called ZIP DAESUNG were he kind of interviews people in a friendly comfy environment. They reunited on his channel. Lastly he will upload an ep with Rose from black pink. TOP said that he withdraw but we VIP(that’s the name of the fandom) are patiently waiting for him, now he hasn’t released any music but he is an actor and has been in several movies and series in Korea; his latest one is in Squid Game season 2 soon to come out. Bro, BigBang, and G-Dragon are for real, no joke, the idols of idols. It's crazy there are people who don't know. I'm not super into K-pop, but I know a fair bit and am familiar with a lot. I'm also an ARMY(BTS fan).
BigBang and G-Dragon were THE trend starters and setters in K-pop. HUGE influence, and a bit similar to BTS when it comes to how they made their company, or at the very least it was more of a collaboration. And not the other way around where the company made the group. When I say 'made' I mean created success.

And for those who don’t know, GD was SM’s former trainee, he had been training in SM for 6 years solid, but later on he found out that SM’ style is not his cup of tea, it’s different from what he’d like to do. He did quit SM and joined YG instead so he could produce his own music, best decision ever.

You have to watch their other MAMA performances, you can pick any of them it doesn't even matter. This is pretty much the only boy group I stan, and they have a larger than usual male fan base. Other male idols love them and even the Korean rappers that clown idols give them respect.

Actually no.... YG wasn't built by Bigbang, they just didn't blow up before Bigbang. Before Bigbang... YG did have reputable artists in their company albeit not really internationally known but does have a fanbase in Korea and a small following globally at that time. Se7en was the biggest thing to happen for YG before Bigbang.
1TYM, Jinusean, Se7en, they were the OG of YG. YG would tell you they were the foundation of YG Entertainment. Those 3 were the ones who put YG Entertainment into mainstream Korean music, without them, Bigbang, 2NE1 or Blackpink wouldn't have existed.
Bigbang replaced 1TYM, and Teddy from 1TYM helped YG produce the new YG idols, and later started YG associate label The Black Label (current Taeyang, Rosé & Somi's company).
I'd put it this way and say Bigbang first, and then along with 2NE1 later, blew YG up.

Not only the light stick but GD was the 1st to do the finger cross love heart, the 1st to change hair colour for male idols and make airport fashion a thing. As a group Big Bang were the 1st to coin the phrase makne for the youngest member, release solo music whilst still with their group, release nix tapes and were the Korean group to have the highest recorded attendance on world tours. GD was, I believe, to be the 1st idol to write & produce music for his group and their group were the 1st to release behind the scenes videos. ps. any corrections to the above would be greatly appreciated. pss. Yes Bigbang and 2ne1 were in the same agency YG Ent. and around that time every band wanted to be like them. The same agency as winner, ikon, black pink, treasure, baby monster. GD or gdragon; leader of the group, accompanied with Taeyang and Daesung performed incredibly and you can see their “POWER” just by hearing the crowd and the idols reaction. Taeyang right now is on tour and Daesung has a TH-cam channel called ZIP DAESUNG were he kind of interviews people in a friendly comfy environment. They reunited on his channel. Lastly he will upload an ep with Rose from black pink. TOP said that he withdraw but we VIP(that’s the name of the fandom) are patiently waiting for him, now he hasn’t released any music but he is an actor and has been in several movies and series in Korea; his latest one is in Squid Game season 2 soon to come out. And regarding the fifth member he is cancelled like you said for doing shitty things in his nightclub. Hopefully next year we can see all 4 members together doing something great!
