Congratulations on being a new bunny owner! :) These cages took quite a bit of work and shipping charges would just be way too much to send to anyone. We also spent about $150 in making them. We do have a video however on how to build it if you're interested in making your own :)
Thanks for your concern. Although slippery flooring can cause splayed legs it's more likely to happen from genetics or muscoskeleton conditions. Three out of four of my rabbits have no problem hopping on the cage floor. Ollie does have hidey houses and beds to give him firm areas to rest and gets lots of floor time on a firm surface. Towels or carpet would be even more dangerous for him as he loves to dig and chew at these which he could easily digest and cause obstructions in his stomach.
I recommend checking the shelters/rabbit rescues in your area, then craigslist or kijiji as rabbits are the 3rd most abandoned animal and there are so many that need a loving forever home.
Honey has one spot she particularly likes to dig in so I always load it up with cardboard and box lids. That way she can dig and shred to her heart's content and just replace the demolished bits during cage cleanings. And it protects the floor of your cage.
They are an amazing breed! Spend lots of floor time with your bunny so they get used to you, give them lots of exercise and space to play, have them spayed/neutered at 6mos. of age and make sure they have unlimited hay!
I need to build a new cage for my rabbits, I would like to build one from a puppy pen like Ollie's because it looks really sturdy and I'm pretty pants at building c and c cages, what size pen would I need to get for two bunnies? How did you attach the second level? Thanks :)
I really love the nose from the rabbits!!! I had 2 once too, but they died and now after almost a year after my last rabbit died I want to have new once... I'm such a rabbit lover ^^
Oh thank you for letting me know! The veggie balls actually have an opening that is wider in one spot, that's where you stuff the veggies in it. It's better for large leafy veggies as small veggies would just fall out of it. It's a great enrichment toy as it makes your small pet work for their food. And two rabbits are better, if you can rescue two that are already prebonded that would be great but otherwise just make sure they're both fixed before introducing them to one another first :)
That really is just preference. The reason I chose tile is because my rabbits love to chew and rip carpet. I didn't want them ingesting any fibres causing an obstruction. It's also a lot messier to clean if they still something on it or poop and pee on it. For me, I love the tile! It takes minutes to vacuum out their cages, then I just spritz with a water/vinegar solution and wipe the flooring clean! If you do use tile just make sure there are softer surfaces also available like a bed etc. :)
Hello :D I love your videos and will be moving to Canada soon (I have lived there in the past, but moved to the US and now moving back in the summer) :) I was wondering when you will be bonding your bunnies, and if you could do a video on that please? Thanks :D
rocky isn't letting you touch anything he's like "don't touch" lol your babies are super cute..i want a bunny, but for a yr just been doing research want to make sure im ready..
Bohamian Princess I know that you posted this 3 years ago, but I just wanted to know if you got the bunny that you wanted. I spent almost a year researching about rabbits and now I have 4 rabbits.
Are they both fixed now? Otherwise it sounds like you're trying everything right. I hate to tell you but sometimes bunnies just don't get along. I tried bonding Willow with Rocky and Honey first so she wouldn't have to live by herself but they hated one another no matter what I did, the fur was flying!
Hi There! Some rabbits just aren't big chewers. Ollie doesn't chew on anything I give him. He's still got untouched willow ring chews in his cage that I gave him a month ago! With these bunnies you want to make sure you have unlimited hay to encourage chewing so their teeth stay worn down (I have a hay video with tips to get them to eat more hay if you need it), you could also try different toys that incorporate treats/hay in them - my website has lots of these :)
I split up the time. Willow and Ollie are out the first half of the night and Rocky and Honey the second half. Also why we have the larger cages since they can't be out when we're not home. On the weekend I split the day up again, half and half. I know it sucks but it can be very dangerous to keep them together if they're really not getting along. Is Bella fixed? Even if Tobi is but Bella's not her hormones could be the reason they're fighting.
It's so odd, our dollar store now is actually selling the same grids I've got but in smaller quantities for a few dollars! I find there's so many differences with pet care between North America and the UK. Willow will always be a mystery too me - the first time I saw an English spot I thought she looked just like one except they're quite a bit larger from what I understand. She does have the narrow face and longer ears but is so tiny. She was a bun I found so I guess we'll never fully know ;)
Hehe thanks but my store is actually not open yet, I am hoping to have it up and running by the early summer. BudgetBunny.ca has some great DIY toys ideas on there for you as well though!
I plan on getting a Holland Lop in July, My question is how should I set up the bunny condo while litter box training? I really want to use fleece, but is that a good option while I'm litter box training??(:
Maybe a bunny proof room would be better for your bunny? :) That way she has tons of space to always roam and play and provides lots and lots of chews and toys and cardboard boxes and hidey houses! :)
My rabbits are diggers and chewers so they would just rip it up and eat it which can be very dangerous. My rabbits get on fine on the tile flooring, Ollie even uses it to his advantage to do a giant leap and slide to the cage door when I've got veggies! :)
NIC grids found at Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart, and Target is what rabbit condos are made out of. You will also need zip ties, and some kind of flooring. I recommend linoleum because its easy to clean :) Then I also recommend putting in a wooden edge made of all natural wood :) Watch budgetbunny's video on rabbit condo building or 101rabbits nic rabbit condo video for more help :)
May I ask why you use water bowls as opposed to the sippy tubes? I LOVE the set-up you have and all your videos, your rabbits seem so happy and healthy =). I've wanted a rabbit since I was 7 and I'm 22 now. Have to wait until I'm out off college in 4 years to get one, but it's going to happen! =). Just waiting for the right time that I can have such a commitment.
love the cage tours, sorry for being so ignorant, but i had no idea you had 4 buns, i thought you had a pair!! We call x pens puppy pens over here, and they really do make great cages and are so versatile! $150 is a lot though! I paid £40 for mine because i wanted extra panels for it, but they are usually around £30 here. Great video. Im not sure that Willow is a netherland dwarf though. xx
I recommend checking your local shelter or rescue. Rabbits are the third most abandoned animals because people don't realize the work and responsibility that goes in to caring for them. You can also check websites like craigslist or kijiji. As well neutering/spaying depends on where you go but expect to pay around $150 for a neuter and $250 for a spay. Also remember that rabbits are a 8-12 year committment, require hours of free range time a day and do best when living with another fixed rabbit.
I have a question for you BudgetBunny. ever since I have rescued my rabbit from a previous owner he has not chewed a thing other than his food and treats. I give him twigs, toys and lots of other stuff and he wont nibble on a thing. Please tell me if I should Do something or try something different. I have had him for 8 months now and I am just curious because most rabbits just chew chew chew. Thanks
I was also wondering what flooring I could use for my walk in closet *for my bunny* I'm getting the bunny in a week or two and I still haven't thought of flooring. Could I use like coroplast..or idk ?
The reason I stopped doing that was because they would constantly fill up on pellets (which has some vital nutrients and vitamins in them but is also very high in sugars and calories) and then ignore their hay which is the most important part of their diet. Now I measure them out. Honey was getting dangerously overweight about a year ago and now looks much more healthy. :)
I'm thinking of getting another bunny because my netherland dwarf past away about a month ago ;( Do you think i should get a holand lop or another netherland dwarf?
i used to give mine unlimited pellets they didn't want anything to do with me (they love pellets ) and I have a scoop I started giving them a half a scoop and they wait for me and I trained them to come to there name:) ( how much pellets do u give your rabbits?)
Rocky nibbles here and there but leaves the pieces on the floor. I buy them at the dollar store so when they get too ratty I can just replace them. I think you just have to know your rabbit. I have 3 who aren't chewers but 1 that is. :)
Spaying helps to prevent hormonal issues among other things. As a general rule rabbits hate to be picked up. They are prey animals so any time they're off the floor it makes them feel like they've been captured. Try to encourage your rabbit to hop in and out of their cage on their own. You could try covering her eyes with your hand when you approach her cage. If she cant see where you're taking her she won't move as much which is safer for your rabbit and for you!
your rabbits are SO docile and sweet! did you buy them from the petshop or somewhere else? i got mine at the petshop and she is such a nervous bunny, and she nips a lot too. poor bunny was destined to be snake food but i just couldn't resist her little face, so i bought the bunny right away without really knowing who the previous owner was. she was older too, six months old when i bought her. its been almost a year i have her and she bites me a lot, is it something serious?
Although guinea pigs and rabbits can coexist peacefully together there are reasons they should be housed separately - the first being their diet. They both need different nutrients and vitamins (guinea pigs like humans can't produce their own vitamin C) which would make it quite difficult to keep on top of if they're living in the same cage. Guinea pigs are also much smaller than rabbits and even an accidental thump or kick with the piggy in the wrong spot could cause major damage.
Your cage looks really neat, but it doesn't work for my rabbit ^^; My first and second rabbits were real chewers to the point of chewing through metal in Fluffy's case (not a lie she actually nibbled on her cage bar so much that it broke from the strain) and so yeah it doesn't really work to make a bottom out of wood my new bunny loves chewing too and will chew right through it X_x
Hi i live in melbourne and i have 4 rabbits how can i get them all to like each other its very difficult to give them what they all need i have 2 sets of boy and and girl and they are all desexed both couples are bonded thanks sandra from melbourne
I think a pair is always best. Rabbits are very social animals and when you aren't home they will definitely be lonely without one another's company. Rabbits should always be neutered/spayed before trying to bond them. If you check your local shelter or rabbit rescue they may already have a bonded pair that is fixed so you don't have to do the work.
They all are except Ollie who can't be because he has a heart condition. Rabbits really can't live together if they aren't spayed/neutered. Just make sure to do your research and make sure you vet is rabbit savvy as they are extremely delicate and considered an exotic. :)
You mentioned your bunny having problems with a sensitive stomach. My vet advised it is best NOT to feed rabbit pellets to rabbits as they cause stasis which you may know can be fatal to rabbits. Makes sense, because pellets are not a natural way of feeding rabbits. Enjoyed your video and your bunnies ;-)
You inspire me. Just got my first bunny a few days ago... I want her to be as happy as your's seem to be. Thank you for the cage tour.
I love when you talk to your rabbits. It's so cute!
Congratulations on being a new bunny owner! :) These cages took quite a bit of work and shipping charges would just be way too much to send to anyone. We also spent about $150 in making them. We do have a video however on how to build it if you're interested in making your own :)
My cage is similar to this but now I have new ideas to make it cleaner and better!
Awesome cages :)
Thanks for your concern. Although slippery flooring can cause splayed legs it's more likely to happen from genetics or muscoskeleton conditions. I LOVE when u r going to show the second level and there up there then u say r u show us ur second level I love it :D
love your cages! id love to have buns indoors but i dont have the space. planning on getting a nice big outdoor cage and run next year x
I recommend checking the shelters/rabbit rescues in your area, then craigslist or kijiji as rabbits are the 3rd most abandoned animal and there are so many that need a loving forever home.
I got mine at the store. I'm in Canada though so I don't know if the US stores stocks different products.
Honey has one spot she particularly likes to dig in so I always load it up with cardboard and box lids. That way she can dig and shred to her heart's content and just replace the demolished bits during cage cleanings. And it protects the floor of your cage.
hi this is the 1st time iv wach your vids and i got to say the really helped me with my rabbit thank you very much

Please keep making your videos!
great set up when we move im going to try to do some of that stuff but we have a feeders and they eat when ever they want

Netherland Dwarf. I believe English Spots are quite large buns and she weighs in at just over 2lbs!
How do you take care of so many rabbits? I have one and its a lot of work. They are so
messy but so sweet.
Hey! I love your videos! I was wondering where you got your rabbits?

So much nostalgia..

My male rabbit is around six months old and is quite dominant,
do you think this will fade as he grows older?
Thank you love your bunnys and your cages there lovely x
are these grids really at wal mart? what section would it be in

I'm planning on getting a bunny and I would like to know if u have a wood floor then how do u keep the POOP in cheak
How old are your bunnies? They're too cute! Love the names of them also!
What do you put in your litter boxes?
Hi! I was wondering what the actually measurements of your cages are? (not sure what the measurement of the cubes are themselves)
Beautiful bunnies!
I would just like to know how tall your cages are. I am thinking of building a 4x5 NIC cage, but these seem to be pretty tall.

How Do You Make Your Ramps ?? Please Do A Video On It.
How you made you cages 0:31 ? Please tell me :)
I love your channel! How old are your bunnies????
im not sure what hay is for feeding or pottying in?

where did you buy your rabbit cage!? :) and how much was it?
Are they holland lops? Well some of them?
yes :)
How do you clean the guinea pig cage, its soooo high!
where did you by this greds?

WHEN WILL YOU DO A NOVEMBER CAGE TOURS?
And where do you get the apple twigs?
Have you tried giving him grass to help with his stomach?
What kind of bunny is willow and Ollie?
great cage tour

Aside from preventing unwanted pregnancies, it helps control radical behaviour in rabits. Also, it can help them live longer I believe.
is it okay if i just get one bunny or would it feel lonely
where did you get the grids
Also tunnel didn't really work with fluffy. She much preferred to jump on it and knock it over rather than go through it the silly girl.
Budget bunny to you have a website I can get rabbit stuff of if you have witch I think you have I'm going on there and getting stuff !
Where do you get your grids from?
where is better took keep a rabbit inside or outside

I have the carrot at 2:48 and the Other one at 3:32

Can u make a vid on how to make a few rabbit toys
