  • Lake Havasu High School students video taped and produced a 30 min production as a class project in 1979. Howie DiBlasi was the Vocational Education Instructor that used the race as a real world project for the students to learn on. Today it is called Project Based Learning (PBL). Back in the day Howie DiBlasi and his student were 21 years ahead of the curve in providing Vocational training for his students.
    Students included Bruce Stedwell,Jim Bible, Hank Eggers, Glen Seifert, Andy Wachtel, Denise Byrnes, James Grahmann, Tom Wahl, Tracy Rogers, Mike Tamson.

    Wonderful! Would you happen to have any videos of Mod VP races in the mid to late "80s as my brother raced then #77 Charlie Anderson!

    I lived there in 78 79. Who else was living there back then. Lot of fun back in those days.

    Amazing video, learned a lot from this. I never knew Walt Yarbrough was from Texas, he is the narrator of just about all of my childhood memories from the races. Jimbo Mcconnell was a stud, and what a polished speaker he was!

    Hey, that's me (blue jeans and dark jacket) at 11:45 walking up to our boat after Tom S. ran it up onto the rocks during driver change. I think Andy W. made one lap before bringing it in with the bottom peeling away. A lot of great drivers interviewed in this production. Fun times hanging with some of the greats that weekend.
