White Chikankari with Gota work - Shadow work - Hand Embroidery

Shadow work - Chikankari is a rich tradition. White Chikankari with Gota work adds a beautiful and elegant combination.
Gota work also known as 'Gota Patti' is used in rich ethnic traditional Indian embroidery. It is an applique technique where small cut pieces of zari is applied on the fabric and the edges are embroidered to create beautiful patterns / designs.
This is my all time favorite for ethnic occasions. This design can be easily done on necklines, panels, all over and even borders.

Both Anchor and DMC threads are almost similar yes they can be used as per preferences and choices.
To avoid knot at the beginning I have made a twisted chain stitch.

Yes they do stay on well with fabric glue, the wash should be light and handwash only.
However, they can also be secured with fine needle and thread too.

This material is Voile.
Yes it is always advisable to wash clothes before one does embroidery on it.
