The way you played the opening part is pretty practical and smart, compared to the traditional way everyone else plays it...
How does everyone else play it?
Looks like this is the same way other transcribers recommend to play it.
Melsarion He played 2 notes with his LH at the very start. Other people play the root note (1 note) and the rest with the RH (which I feel, makes it harder)
well the tutorial/sheets I watched/used showed to play two notes with the left hand too.
Not in the video though. The midi/raw sheets only have one note on the bass, 'cause it's nicer to notate that way :p
But I'm sure there are as many covers/transcriptions out there not doing it that way. This song is quite popular :)
thats how i've always seen people play it and im just like 'WHY???? it makes it so much harder to play it like that!' I've always played it 2 with LH then the rest of the chord with RH

Yuri On Ice is the thing that kept me skating. I know it sounds cringy but I had a lot of insecurities I let get to me and when I found this anime it taught me no matter how many times I fall during practice, I can find a way to get to the top.

I've learned around 44 seconds but really slow with the second half of that dont think I'll be able to learn all of it wayyyy too hard

I just started to learn yesterday. I’ve literally been playing it all night.
Never stop believing. I’ve been playing for 4 years now and have finally reached the level where I can play the piece that made me begin playing piano. It was simply too beautiful to give up on. When I first saw it I thought It was too impossible and could only play hardly anything with only my right hand. I finally grabbed it after 4 years and learned a rough version of it (still making errors but it’s being played) and have finally recently finished it with all I have to give to the piece. Please don’t give up on your dreams and keep going because nothing can stop you!

@@rhys8878 Im glad to hear that! Im currently trying to study it again since I quit because my fingers were too short to reach the octaves. They're still too short for me but I'm figuring out what keys to omit. Hope I'll get past the intro soon

I've been picking up a lot of songs quite quickly similar to this one and is that normal? Or is this strange? Exactly! If you’re obsessed enough, you can do anything I promise, I can’t read sight music for shit, and had a teacher for like half a year in middle school so I didn’t really learn much, but I’m a minute and a half in babyyyyy, so let’s goooo, we can do it!!
Even after 3 years of the anime being released, and countless re-watches, Yuri on Ice will always be one of my most favorite animes to ever exist 💕

This is the best song to play on a piano PERIOD it makes me cry there needs to be a season 2
…someday, somehow, I’m gonna be able to play this. It’s gonna take a heck load of time, but I will push myself to the limit with this.
I first watched this about a half a month after you posted it. And I am now able to fully play the song. Took a while but I’m glad I can preform it now!
This song is the musical equivalent to Yuuri's journey throughout the show...
The beginning sounds timid and vulnerable, almost hollow in terms of sound. Then it becomes more full with deeper notes and more complex melodies, which there are many going on at the same time. It sounds more confident and hopeful. The end resembles the beginning, but it feels like a conflict has been resolved in the melody and could represent Yuuri being able to stand on his own without being vulnerable.

This song is so beautiful, it encompasses so many emotions and it's just personal to me. Your Yuri on Ice piano cover (the one where we get to see you play the piano) was my first introduction to this beautiful song. I knew my friend liked Yuri on ice, so I goggled it and found out that I already knew something from the show, "History Maker". It was my favorite song in like 2018 but I never knew it was from Yuri on ice. So, I decided I should watch the show, and oh boy I had such a strong first impression with just the first episode. Yuri, was so relatable to me, and his anxiety was portrayed so well. When I watched episode 7 and saw his performance after his emotional conversation with Victor, it just felt so different than before. I knew the what the sections of the song symbolised, I mean, Victor told us what it meant, but it was only clear after that one performance what the song meant. I relate to the song so much and when I hear it I get drawed in so hard and it's just so personal to me.
Even though I am a beginner pianist, I can't read sheet music, and I've only learned three simple 30sec songs, I want to learn this peice so bad. I know that I should learn slower and easy songs to build up, but like Yuri, I am impatient, so I am starting to practice this song with my little experience. It's crazy, but the passion of the song is begging me to. I've only practiced a little bit, but I can almost play up to 0:26sec with my right hand. I got the basic movement for my right hand, and I am learning to add the left hand smoothly. I can play it at 75% speed! I don't expect to be able to learn the whole song, but I want to at least get this beginning section.

I always think of how much Yuri has gone through and it is demonstrated so well in this song, with the rising notes and dramatic pauses now and then.
