On this date: Friday November 23, 1979 is only 8 days before PBS stations around the country (including my own station: KPBS San Diego) began its 12-day holiday membership pledge drive from Saturday December 1st through Wednesday December 12th, 1979 featuring new special programs like "Bluegrass Spectacular", "The Great Radio Comedians", "The Fred Waring Show", "Song by Song: "E.Y. Harburg" and more and encore presentations like "American Pop: The Great Singers", "The Cousteau Odyssey", "An Evening of Championship Skating" and more!!
Good Lord this wouldn't dare be on tv today thank God. Some things have improved over time. I remember that the aids crisis started just a few years later and everything changed. I was a very young kid but I remember the difference immediately when the 80s started. All the free wheeling kind of stuff went away.
I remember the classic Hefty trash bag commercial. When I saw the bag getting more stuffed, I heard the timpani drum bounces.
RIP Dorothy Stratton and Richard Dawson 🙏🙏🌹🌹🕊️🕊️❤️❤️

Very interesting, thanks for sharing other info from that date 🙂
@@meredith_vintage It was my pleasure.
Can youd do NBC Saturday morning commercials 1978 aired during Go-Go Globetrotters?
The funny thing it seems like it would fly more today than back then people have loose morals todays times
I’m surprised this was on regular television glorifying this stuff.
This would NOT fly today. The army of butthurt would go on a REEEEEEE fest...
