Spot on! Procrastination often feels like a way to avoid the uncomfortable, but it can actually be strategic when done right. I’ve found that recognizing which tasks to delay and which to prioritize helps me focus on what really matters. Humor also plays a role in combating procrastination-sometimes a joke about how much is left to do makes the mountain of work feel smaller. I found the Sense of Humor Improvement Program by Habit10x really useful in navigating these tricky moments. Stay calm, tackle one thing at a time, and remember, humor can make even the hardest tasks lighter!
This is really hitting home this week. I had gotten better but then reverted back to some really bad habits of late and am miserable for it. And, Cal is only slightly older than my children . Old dogs can learn new tricks, but its difficult.
A suggestion the the editing team: If possible kindly link the episodes to which Cal is referring to. It will help us to land on the correct video. Thank you.
Please add chapter timestamps in text within the episode podcast description so that we can click those in Apple Podcasts and jump around - like on TH-cam (if nat natively supporting chapters). This will help save time!
1:06:00 I read that article by Patchett and almost sent it to Cal. I have been to her bookstore, honestly it's okay, the one I love down there is Landmark Books in Franklin which is about 30 minutes outside of Nashville. Far more bookish atmosphere. Also, years after things reopened, Patchett was only allowing a certain number of people in the store, and had to mask. Pass.
Can someone please help me find the episode he is talking about 5:04? He is talking about the episode on Productivity Basics but I am having hard time finding it out.
Yeah, was confused too. I did some digging and I found it. The original title of the podcast on Cal’s website is "EP. 312 Productivity Basics", and they put different titles on TH-cam to game the algorithm. This is the episode you’re looking for: th-cam.com/video/LxTiFNJdVBI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rcXTwigT_i7ZvKhJ
I'm not the person who wrote in but 'career capital' isn't something I considered. I do want out of the music industry, though, so I may need to start all over again. It's administrative work, though, so I would think I could bring this to a different industry? I'm also partly leaving as a mini revenge/f-you and i think that's hard to avoid in a toxic environment but it's also because I cannot grow here. The seniors above me will always be in that position and they get paid a lot. I get paid pennies. I cannot find any motivation whatsoever to prove myself to people I simply don't like just to be respected. In a new job, fine but not in this one. I was even bullied by one of them years ago and I have to pretend like we're 'getting along' now so it's okay. It's not okay. It's really hard to work with a former bully and I am pretty much triggered every time he opens his mouth or looks at me in a certain way. I also fundamentally dislike them as people.
Can't you finish sponsers in the beginning of the video and leave rest of the video about the actual content.I really love listening to your videos while on a walk. But the thing about hats, ur book in the middle of the video really irritates me.
Just a gentle feedback : the ad for the (terrific) book was very unexpected, loud, with bad audio and frankly a bit cringe The ad was not a bad idea, but the execution is usually better Thanks for this great episode otherwise !
It’s okay to pause new ideas temporarily to focus on perfecting what you already have.

02:14 Causes of procrastination
1. Brain doesn't trust your plan.
2. Brain bathed in distraction.
3. Too disorganized.

I was surprised to hear that 15 pages per hour is not enough. I read like 10 per hour (and I'm interested in the books)...
Thank you!
Love all the videos. Fellow shredder here \m/
Came to watch the video one after listening audio-only SPECIFICALLY to see the VBLCCP hat
I'll watch this later
I want a Deep Life hat! Would love one in black with white lettering.

Great episode. Its so hard to get rid of extra web/social media surfing, though. Especially in Ukraine.
Which video is the productivity basics video that you refer to? Trying to find =)!
I have no regrets

Is TH-cam considered social media? I removed all social media and just left TH-cam

Is DeepStack 3.0 going to be a video for 2025 at some point? I remember the DeepStack 2.0 for 2024.
Is the video deepstack 2.0 available on his channel or it's book

Mann you put so many ads, every 2 minutes it shows an ad. Impossible to listen
Not ‘feeling like’ doing something is a reasonable reason for not acting.

I's in every video, though.
